To me, the note appears to have been written at different times. Most of it on the left appears to have been written in a storytelling style, all the self pitying “me me me” crap “I feel so alone how can I get through this” blah blah (nothing about her patients & families who she apparently cared about so much she facebooked stalked them on Xmas day of course!) Then, on the right of the note, it’s more statements, Confessional, blunt; I KILLED THEM, I AM EVIL, I AM AN AWFUL PERSON I DID THIS ON PURPOSE Like she’s re-read her ramble & corrected it to reflect the actual truth of the situation 🤬

I feel like the note has overlooked the fact she took pictures of two dead babies. A picture, on her phone.

I know what I’m thinking today- the defence prosecution opening hasn’t made me doubt much. I remain open minded though.

I think some people are desperately wanting there to be a not guilty, as the thought of her actually committing these murders is understandably terrifying. However, my full thoughts are with all the families, god knows how they will get through this.

The jury would have to believe someone else wrote the notes and planted them in her house.....
Not necessarily. Several healthcare professionals have had their mental health severely impacted by suspicions and accusations- many have taken their own lives to later be found innocent. I think unless you've worked in an environment like that it's hard to really understand the toll it can take even if innocent.

I'm absolutely not saying I think the letters don't suggest x, y or z and as I said, I have my own thoughts about whether she did it so im not a cheerleader or trying to claim she is innocent; but in a 6 month trial rather than knee jerk claims of guilt the system rightly expects people to consider all of the evidence when making a decision. The defence hasn't tried to claim that someone else wrote them or that they were planted or whatever which is quite telling.

To my mind, the evidence produced so far is overwhelming. I don't believe for one second that she's innocent.

"Sometimes, things have gone wrong, or the necessary standards of care have not been met, irrespective of anything to do with Lucy Letby. For that, she should not get the blame."

Oh come on Ben, even your own client admitted to the police that some of the things that happened to those babies could not have been accidental.

you’re on a mission to prove her innocence 🤣
No I'm not. I actually think she's done something. I'm EXPLAINING what contexts you could take from that. I'm clicking ignore on you because you're being rude to me. Just because I don't fully agree with what you're saying ... bizarre.

"I killed them on purpose because I'm not good enough"
Do we even need a trial. I feel ill reading that.
Playing Devil’s Advocate here, but could she have been writing down what she thought people would think of her or say about her having just been arrested?

People were saying the opening statement from the prosecution was weak/circumstantial at the start though…. I’m personally not ruling out another bombshell 🫣

Her barrister will have seen all the evidence in advance. The notes aren't going to be a surprise to him.

The defence for me…. The most damning thing is him going through each baby….
Baby A- ‘this could have happened’
Baby B- ‘well yes what was found was odd but XYZ could have happened’
Baby C- ‘well that baby had breathing difficulties anyway’
Baby D….
One baby is a tragic tragic accident
Two babies- there’s a huge question mark over what has been going on and negligence potentially by the hospital
But THIS many babies…. There cannot be any doubt. This is absolutely not coincidental or bad luck or even negligence. And in such a short amount of time??? Coupled with the notes she wrote? The defence would have to provide some seriously seriously good evidence to make me think this woman is innocent. And even then I’m not sure I’d be convinced.
I have twins myself… they are 5 now. It hurts my heart to think of either one of them growing up without the other- even if it had been an accidental death.
this is all quite literally, unbelievable

so just for context, when she wrote these notes was she working in an admin role in the office and was under investigation for murdering these babies? how did she go about her work if she was under investigation? why wasn't she immediately sacked?
You can't "just sack" someone, even in a very clear gross misconduct case the employer still has to go through a proper process, failure to follow this can result in the dismissal being deemed unfair, and the person could go to a tribunal and end up being reinstated. Moving to a non-patient facing role is quite usual in healthcare settings as an alternative to suspension while an internal investigation is carried out.

Not to jump on you. But the above phrase can be quite hurtful to those of us who have experienced prematurity (**and indeed NICU with a full term baby) and the fear that runs along side it.
It's not just premature babies who require special care, some babies born at 40 weeks can have a far worse time than someone born at 26 weeks, and ultimately pass away in special care.
Science has advanced in such a way, that there are many children born at 22 weeks who live to tell the tale.
But to use prematurity as an excuse for their passing, instead hospital failings& gross medical error, and or murder by Lucy or someone else is another thing.
Again this isn't jumping on you. Just asking in future to be mindful of how you word such sentences, it's such a sensitive topic on the whole.**Edited to make sense as I'm not good at getting my thoughts across and I'm still full of the flu😂
I am so sorry for any upset I may caused. It truly was not intended.

Veering towards innocent atm. I feel those notes are from a desperate person who’s accused of something she didn’t do, feel sad scared and alone. Reads a bit like I couldn’t save them so feels guilty

Also I know the murders seemed to have stopped now but if she’s innocent the real killer might be laying low to frame innocent person? Or has moved to a different area of country/hospital and it’s still happening 😥

Im still on the fence. The defence have done their job well today and literally have just put doubt across everything. No need for anything else from them at this stage in proceedings. I also aren’t reading too much into the notes she has written - obviously she was going through a mental health crisis having just been ‘accused’ of the most horrific of crimes (whether she’s done them or not).
An interesting point I picked up on was that she walked in on a Dr discussing the care of Child Q in the equipment room - by this point she would obviously be aware that there were concerns about her care and practice on the ward so maybe she had started to keep things such as hand over sheets (not saying it’s right) but maybe she thought she could reflect on these cases. Almost come up with her own defence as to why things had happened to that child. I’m probably not articulating what I’m trying to say very well. I simply mean if she knew what she’s was being accused of she’s thought she best keep some kind of record herself.
