Court breaks after Letby denies overfeeding Child P
Letby denies overfeeding Child P after his brother died.

"You overfed Child P sometime between 6pm and handing him over at 8pm, didn't you?" Nick Johnson KC, for the prosecution, asks.

"No, I did not."

The court has adjourned for lunch.

Proceedings will resume at 2.10pm.

Then to find out later some witch had killed them must be horrific for them, thank god they managed to get the surviving one moved as I am sure she would have went for them too.

I don't want to side track the thread, but if other people are also interested in knowing, could you say a bit about how you put personal feelings and thoughts aside?

I work in healthcare now. It's a basic ethical principle that everyone has a right to a good standard of treatment and care, no matter who they are or what they've done. This fits with my own values, so I'm confident I can uphold it. But in the legal sphere it looks like a much more challenging thing to do, because you're actually involved in establishing whether the person did what they were accused of or not. I think I'd find it much more difficult to step back from my own opinions and stay clear-headed in that situation, so I'm interested to know how you develop the skill and if it gets easier with time.

Today’s reading is absolutely draining

it really is. We knew the last few babies were some of the hardest reading earlier in the trial so I was expecting it to be really difficult under cross examination, but it’s been worse than I thought. And I don’t really feel that NJ has needed to progress from first gear today as the facts present themself - though I do have a weird feeling that there is some more difficult/shocking stuff to come before he is done with her. extra love today to the thread fam

I sometimes wonder if she's just blatantly lying, or if in her twisted mind she's convinced herself she's telling the truth.

Urgh grim reading catching up today. The triplets are her undoing. They were doing so well. It’s clear why she stayed late. Even Noname thought it was odd clearly that she’d stayed that late. She’s just pure evil.

Child O died in his parents' arms after being baptised

Child O was baptised and then died in his parents' arms at 5.47pm on 23 June 2016.

In her nursing notes the following day, Lucy Letby wrote "peripheral access lost" in relation to why the infant required an IV.

A doctor has previously told the court this was not true.

"That is [colleague]'s opinion," Letby tells the court.

Letby is accused of injecting air into Child O.

"Why were you making an untrue statement in the form?" Mr Johnson asks.

"I don't believe it was untrue at the time."

"Is it just a coincidence you were making this report pretty much at the time you had been removed from the unit?" Mr Johnson asks.

"I hadn't been removed from the unit at this point."

Letby says she was removed from the neonatal unit in July.

"You were very worried they were on to you, weren't they?"

"No."

This is so heartbreaking to hear

Today is really tough. I cannot imagine how the parents feel. I'm keeping up with goings on at court via you lovely ladies, whilst I do a job application.
I don't know why these two babies today have got to me so much, I feel really sad. They must have been in so much pain. I wonder how much the surviving triplet knows? I wonder if they know they are one of three little miracles.

I used to manage a chemical lab and had to fire a chap who filled out an incident form to cover up for not doing something. Not the cleverest way of covering your tracks!

Oh that will deffo be what caused the impact trauma to the baby's liver. Let her go home now tbh, case closed.

Even her response to a nurse messaging her saying “ Fu*cking hell what happened”
any normal innocent response would be along the lines “ OMG I know what on earth is happening … something is wrong, I’m going to raise this higher”

Not one ounce of concern or question in ANY of her messages.

I've been involved in many emergencies in hospital, I have never seen anyone casually stroll off for anything, let alone slip outside for a fag. What a ridiculously stupid thing for LL to say.
