There's a risk taking element with most serial killers, but especially the health care serial killers so I wouldn't be surprised by her attempting to harm a baby minutes before their mother is due there. Could also have been tactical in that she could try to aportion blame on to the mother, or gives another reason for the demise of the baby.

I think she was maybe caught on the hop. Was there some EBM stored in the fridge? How long would it/could it be stored?
She recorded the feed was ‘omitted’ on a Dr’s advice but the Dr has no recollection of this.
Mum phoned dad at 09:11pm.
Would she be so brazen to hurt the baby when she knew mum was to arrive at any minute? 🤷‍♀️
A mom on the same NICU we were in bought expressed breast milk in every day, as they would use most and it helped keep her supply going fir when baby would come home.
The babies would all be weighed every over day and their weight determined how much milk they were given, tube or bottle fed and then this was divided for a feed every 2 hours over a 24 hour period.

It could be altered though, my son was nil by mouth for a while and then was suffering a lot of vomitting, so they did reduce his amount that day and slowly increased up again.

I think it can be stored as long it was stored properly, but I think we only had a fridge, so short term storage.

As horrible as the post is going to sound, I think she was experimenting so had no idea how this baby was going to react/present after what she did so I think that’s why she’s also not thought much about how close it was to mum coming. I’m not sure she banked on baby reacting how they did & I do think there was some fascination in how they reacted to what she did so in my mind, I can completely imagine her losing all sense of time/whoever was due to come & literally just be stood there almost in awe of what she’s just done ☹

I don’t think she timed things deliberately either. I am guessing the feeling of carrying out the act, the babies reaction then watching chaos unfold must give her some sort of adrenaline rush so I don’t think she pays attention to the minor details

I feel unwell even thinking like that

Yeah it will be about opportunity and the risk will just be extra kick. Really any parent that had left to go get food could have nipped back unexpectedly. Think how many babies that were potentially saved worse fates by someone walking in 🙈
She knew the babies she poisoned would have blood tests too and the risk that would pose in terms of being caught and stopped. It’s just too much of an addiction.
The baby had dried blood round it’s mouth so it’s likely she inflicted that some time before mum came and baby was still unsettled or she may have just caused poor baby E harm in some other way too just before Mum came in. She could have been doing all sorts to those poor babies 😰

Do you think this is to investigate any more possible attacks prior to our babies or to deal with the aftemath of the court case?
More attacks. ☹ 3 years woww. They must be going through every baby she's been in contact with.

I know Lucy can’t speak to her barrister whilst she’s a witness, but I wonder how the calls with her parents are going. How are they reacting in court too, as I know they have attended every day.
They were broken, we briefly said it must be so hard for you. The family friend / Lucy’s friend left in tears

Ohh was it an older woman (older than Lucy but younger than parents) with short dark hair? I did see someone with her parents but I hadn’t considered it was a friend actually, I thought maybe legal person / some sort of liaison (don’t even know if that’s a thing!)

I might sound like the worst mum in the world but unless there was solid concrete evidence that my kid hadn’t done it I don’t think I’d want anything to do with them

Maybe it’s the one that would be pleased she’s back for Christmas too. From the texts with her mum.

To be fair, I’ve not really thought much about how people close to her must be feeling. But it must be awful, especially listening to this cross if they’ve always held onto the hope that she is innocent. Likely in phone calls she’s been telling them “I’ve not done it, you’ll see when I get on the stand, I’ll prove it, they’ve got no evidence etc” when actually, her taking the stand has likely been a huge reality check for them 😩

I do feel sorry for her parents. I couldn’t imagine finding out your child has done something so evil and wicked

Her poor family. They too are victims, and their pain as they are forced to confront the truth of who their daughter is must be dreadful. What a quandary to have raised and loved Lucy, to see with their own eyes the reality.

I do feel for her parents too. Especially with their age, I mean the immense stress of their daughter being a potential serial killer could trigger a heart attack/stroke. 😔 Then how would Lucy feel? Wonder if she would feel anything or if she views her own loving parents as only puppets on her string. I do hope they are ok. Of course the parents/families of the babies are the main focus and as they should be ❤ but I can’t help but feel sympathy for her parents and family. How they are feeling must be indescribable. 😔

I feel sorry for her parents, they will be grieving the loss of their daughter as they knew her but also they will have to live with the the repercussions of these horrific crimes. Their lifes are ruined too.

They look like normal loving parents. But we will never know will we?

That's the thing that people like LL will never understand or care about. Her victims go far and beyond. You've got all those poor families and babies, the surviving ones that may have to deal with their own trauma or survivors guilt, people potentially knowing who the babies are and that being their life forever more.

The families that will always wonder if they may have had LL caring for their babies. The nurses, doctors and professionals that will question if they did enough. Her parents for wondering what went wrong or what could have been different. Her friends who stood by her unknowing of her actions.

The police that have had to investigate this for years and will have seen and heard things no one should have to. The courts. The lawyers. The jury who've had to listen and process with their heads, while silencing their hearts but remembering they are still human.

The people not involved but have been triggered by this case. Those with babies in neonatal or any hospital care, wondering if they are truly safe. The prison, court and health care workers that have to do their job while questioning how there can be someone so cruel in their midst. The public that can't comprehend how someone could do this, and hug their kids just that bit tighter every night.

This case has hit us all hard and it must be beyond frustrating for those involved to see that LL has only ever shed tears for herself, not all of the people affected by this. Her continuing to behave in a way that shows she only cares for herself is not surprising, but just as sickening.
