Agreed. I think the distress of the parents was a big part of it too. Things like constantly popping in and out of the room when they were saying goodbyes, the phone call, the trying to move the baby to the cold cot while they were clinging to life, hurting baby while parents were close by/due any minute, getting so involved in the bereavement pack etc. She was thriving on seeing the hurt she was causing.

Taking the hand and footprints whilst the baby was still alive and trying to take baby from the parents whilst still alive, it was like she couldn't wait for them to die. When she took the prints before the baby had passed the parents probably didn't realize she was not doing it in line with protocol and just accepted what she said.

Long time lurker to this thread, but had to jump in as have experience with NPD. Before we all feel sorry for her parents, could the parents not be partly responsible for how she has turned out? Aren't bad parenting styles part of the cause of Narcissistic personality disorder?

We've had this discussion several times and the overall consensus was that it may or may not the case. And although she certainly shows signs of NPD we actually don't know if that's true.
So, she stated herself in a text to NN that they are overprotective. I think if anything, if she's their only child, a child that they never thought they'd have, then she was adored. She was put upon a pedestal and they bent over backward to give her everything. She was probably suffocated.

This upbringing wouldn't do anyone any good, it wouldn't teach her right from wrong, would give her some sort of God complex and explain a lot of her very childlike behaviours: despite this it's clear that she adores her Dad particularly.

It doesn't really fit for me that they abused her and that they're to blame, she's the monster.

So yes, I feel sorry for them. But as I said, I don't think we will ever know the full reasons why

Nosycowymoos comment has given us a lot more information and we can see things got really difficult and she knew she was being tied in lots of knots hence the request to have a break. I would have loved to have been privy to what went on behind the scenes when she got her break. It's been said NJ speaks quietly and politely so she cannot complain about his manner and attitude towards her. I hope she doesn't pull a sicky on Wednesday!!

No ha ha, inside I guess he was! my gosh all I could think was she was digging herself a hole so big she was about to reach Australia. I can’t remember exactly at which part but he even asked her a question in so many ways she wasn’t answering so he said ok so I’ll take that as you’re refusing to answer. Between that and the changing wording or denying the agreed facts saying she’d never heard it before (even though it was read out in court) it wasn’t good no wonder she wanted a break, she was tripping herself up so many times, I was on the fence… till yesterday

Oh and at one point he said at what point between it being read out at the beginning of the trial and now did you decide you wanted to change your answer and she was just like

It will help explain all poor Lucy’s discrepancies. Except she’s getting tetchy. And trying to be a smart a. Which doesn’t really fit does it.
She was anticipating a police investigation when she wrote her note when she’d only been redeployed remember

That's a really good point that may be a reason for her rushing things because she didn't want to miss out on doing things.

Just a reminder this is what she told a colleague about child c’s parents. They just wanted to get home apparently. But they describe being rushed to put the baby in the cot and be taken away from them despite the baby still breathing. I think they had about 5 hours with him. Who do you believe??? What sounds more plausible??

It crossed my mind too. She definitely wanted to complete that particular task.

The thought of any person on the planet, let alone a Nurse behaving in this way is absolutely sickening.

Ah, as in if she had to follow protocol and wait until the baby (child C) had passed she would miss her opportunity to do it?

Child C collapsed at 11.15pm and he "clung to life for a further five hours plus." so I dont think it would have been near the end of her shift but perhaps she was simply getting impatient that it was taking so long? I think it was unusual how long he clung to life.

She may have been afraid he wasn't going to officially pass away on her shift because it was taking so long but in the end he did pass away long before her shift ended.

Would Letby be aware of operation Hummingbird? Or will it be a case that even IF (and that's a big if) she is found NG and walks, could she still be arrested quite swiftly with regards to new cases or would it be a case as IF (not quite such a big if) she is found guilty, they would just attribute these to her or would there need to be another trial even if she is already in prison? x

The latter. Like Shipman. I think he did have to attend something but it wasn’t like a trial with a jury.

Are you going again next week ? Thank you for your insight it does bring more context that what we get in the reporting.
You said you believe she’s guilty now, is that after seeing her in court and way she answered questions?
Could you see other people’s reaction to her in the room you were in or did people keep quiet ?
