Also that tweet is saying as if nobody believes she is guilty , from what I've seen most people are calling her evil and believing she has done it
When a white woman goes missing, or gets murdered, or commits a crime, there's always one who pipes up at the worst time ever to play the race card. She's a white English woman who to our knowledge has not targeted babies by ethnicity or race. Everyone wants her burned at the stake before the defence has even spoken. People who think she's going to magically come out of all this smelling of roses just because she's white are deluded.

Six people in this country have committed crimes so fucking heinous that they needed entirely new identities and appearances because someone would have most likely killed them in broad daylight. The Edlington brothers, Maxine Carr, Venables and Thompson, and Mary Bell. All white. All conjure up such disgust in the general public that the High Court genuinely believe some random individual would kill them on sight.

I remember in A Level Psychology, we were shown a video of people participating in a focus group, and smoke was put under the doors, and the researchers waited to see who would stand up in a room full of strangers and be like 'yup, this isn't normal, building's on fire, let's get the fuck out of here'. People don't like to act alone and don't like to be the one who stands up and fights. So the fact these six white English people have done such vile things that the government genuinely believes another individual would kill them on sight.....yeah. White isn't a get out of jail free card.

I’m glad I’m not on trial with many of you on the jury, it seems many have decided guilt before hearing both sides of the story.

The prosecution are doing what they are employed to do, make LL look guilty and saying that the poor children that lost their lives were murdered and that there were attempts to murder others. As tragic as the loss of life and permanent disability is from these events, there is the possibility that there are different reasons for the tragic events and we all should keep an open mind.

I hope the jurors keep this in mind and haven’t decided upon guilt already. Regardless of anything else LL deserves a fair trial.

So far much of what has been presented indicates an increased death rate while LL is on shift, correlation does not mean causation though where statistics occur, so do anomalies.

While many of her actions were unprofessional (texting colleagues, Facebook stalking, taking notes home, etc.) these are all things I’m aware of happening in a healthcare setting.

Lastly, if innocent, the deaths of patients (especially babies) may have deeply impacted her deeply, her looking up the family of a patient that passed as soon as she wakes could possibly just show that it was in her mind and she was sad about it.

The 2 things that have got to me so far are the little baby who had the banner and cake for reaching 100 days and baby I. All the babies are obviously tragic and sad but those 2 have got to me 💔

So she has been under suspicion, moved to days, gone back to nights and then had supervision of a student. Okkkk. Some good procedures in that hospital.

Fascinating case. My Dad had a colleague in med school who joked about hurting patients when he qualified. Dad recorded him twice within 2 weeks saying it and handed it into the head of the school and the Gardai. He was expelled from med school after a full psych evaluation. Best thing my dads ever done.
Something similar on TikTok happened where a student doctor had joked on her account that she deliberately hurt a man she was injecting a needle into by inserting it incorrectly, because he said something politically incorrect. Thinking everyone would praise her, no several people reported her to the hospital where she was training, as what she did was assault and lashed out at a patient who didn’t behave the way she wanted them to behave or they said something she didn’t agree with. Massive red flag especially at the fact she was just starting her career in medicine.

I really feel for those parents of the babies having to sit through or listen to the case. It's bad enough and painful enough just listening to the news reports.
This is what gets me, thinking of the poor families. The first death happened in 2015, that’s 7 years ago now. In my head I imagine the babies parents accepting their baby died of natural causes and spending years building their lives back up despite grief and trauma. For some parents, this grief may have been the end of their marriage or relationship (I know this is a weird point but my close friend lost her 2 year old child due to hospital negligence - not at all related to this case - and the grief actually lead to her and her husband divorcing). You never get over it but they would have built up a level of acceptance and (I hope) found happiness and new perspectives.

To then be told actually, this may not be the case it may have been because of this evil woman. 2 years ago she was arrested so for 2 years they’ve probably been going back and forth now, reviewing their hospital experience, a mix of anger, sadness, guilt, maybe even feeling they didn’t protect their child. And now they have to listen to the gruesome, evil things their innocent, helpless child pursued in court. Have to explain what they went through all those years ago and see this case all over the news and social media.

Those poor, poor parents. My heart truly breaks for them. I’m so lucky to not know what it feels like but I can truly imagine how difficult it was. I mentioned my friend, her gorgeous baby had a brain tumour that was ignored time and time again by doctors no matter how much they persisted and fought for him. Her strength was amazing but my god, how hard it was.

Has any info been released on her background/family life?

her parents have a pretty big age gap of 10+ years iirc
That makes no sense… if having an age gap in a marriage was any way responsible for creating a possible baby killer, then a very significant amount of people on this planet would be blood hungry.

This is almost as ridiculous as the time someone said in the Sarah Everard case that they knew Wayne Couzens was a psychopath simply because he was bald 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve been reading around this quite a bit and what I thought was interesting is that, although she’s been a nurse for 7 or so years… they can only legally investigate one year (where the peak deaths occurred) by law. Otherwise it’s classed as “trawling” and that can be used against the police investigating the case.
So she could have potentially (if guilty) murdered or tried to harm more babies around the time they’re investigating.

I think that’s so incredibly sad for those who may have lost children under her care outside the time they’re investigating

Some of the comments here show a real misunderstanding of the criminal justice system.

For a start, so far we have only heard the facts as the prosecution allege them to be. The defence haven’t opened their case yet. So there will be more to come. People deciding that she is innocent or guilty at this stage without knowing all the relevant info are jumping the gun. The comments saying ‘she doesn’t look the type’ are a bit concerning- would people think she looked more the ‘type’ if she was less attractive or a different ethnicity?

Also, in order for the case to even get off the ground, the CPS have to decide there is a realistic prospect of conviction. That means they have to have evidence. They have to think that it is worth putting it to a jury whether she is guilty or not guilty. That is a pretty high bar. There will be weeks/months of evidence, including expert evidence from medics etc.

Finally, just a reminder that for her to be found guilty on some or all of the counts against her, the jury have to be satisfied beyond reasonable doubt. So they have to be 99% sure she was responsible. The burden of proof is on the prosecution to show she was guilty.

I’m starting to think maybe she hasn’t done it. The hospital was failing 21 years ago when they flooded my relatives lungs with milk and it’s still happening now.

You mean their ADULT DAUGHTER.

I’m sure they needs lots of support but holding hands going in and out of court for six months? No that's not contrived at all 🙄

More like they’ve been told to hold hands to make them look like a loving family who couldn’t raise an evil daughter. All part of helping Lucy look better and I don’t care for the aesthetics behind it.
My parents have been married 50 years, have 2 grown up daughters, grandchildren and still hold hands daily. As a teenager i found it awkward, as am adult adorable.

Always assumed they just genuinely love each other but apparently covering something my sister must have done 🤷‍♀️

I really want to believe she's not guilty, but I also want to believe she's guilty. This is such a crazy, sad case.
I will say though, I think my unconscious bias is showing sometimes. Her being the blonde-haired, blue-eyed, angel of Chester saving sick babies as the face of the unit does this case no favours. Everyone loves a blonde-haired blue-eyed girl a la the 'Missing White Woman' phenomenon. We see that shit and think of our little siblings and their big eyes and baby blonde hair and we see innocence. A seemingly middle-class family and previously stainless record cements that.

She's obviously not an Allitt type - if she was, they'd have brought up all the Munchhausen shit by now. People with Munchhausen by Proxy tend to be munchies themselves first. No university friends, no childhood friends, no family members or neighbours, no colleagues or ex-boyfriends have said anything about her. Good or bad. Usually we get a 'she's such a lovely girl' or 'they were a loner'. Not a peep. This is the kind of case where everyone wants to come out of the woodwork and talk shit through any channel that'll take them, even if there's an embargo, it gets out sometime if someone really has an axe to grind and wants to make their mouth go.

She's obviously not insane. If she was, we'd be hearing about things being held up with constant psychiatric assessments and reports, or her being held at a secure unit/hospital whilst awaiting trial. If she did it, she will have been considered to be in sound mind.

If she did do it, I don't understand why she got so fucking sloppy. I don't think she's a sociopath. Sociopaths are way less intelligent, way more chaotic and disorganised, and typically can't stick to the kind of schooling and hard work Lucy would have had to do to get where she was. Her behaviour screams more psychopathy than sociopathy, so that's why I find it so crazy that she got sloppy! It makes me suspicious for her,not against her. Multiple tries on the same babies, trauma and violence instead of her usual quiet methods she began with (that were working pretty well sadly). The deaths would have been more spaced out. She would have put way more effort into alibis, she'd have known not to shit up her search history.

We're not talking about a stupid woman here. Nursing requires so much academic study now as well as vocational training, and the work she did on top of that to get into the specific job with the specific responsibilities that she was undertaking means she obviously had the mental capacity to know how to cover her tracks.

A little bit of me wants to believe that the evidence was in her house because she was piecing together some grand conspiracy of higher-ups trying to cover up inadequate care and incompetency. This is the age of inquests which have decided thousands of mothers and babies have died needlessly due to NHS and NMC bullshit. So many hospitals have too. many. NICU and maternity. Deaths.

And the prosecution dropping a few sneaky charges to make sure no recovered babies they couldn't tie to Lucy taint their case? I'm just uncomfortable.

I'm the worst for Facebook stalking. I start off stalking one of my boyfriend's friends he wants me to meet, suddenly I'm stalking the sister of some dude she went to secondary school with. So that's pretty common saddo behaviour.

With how damning the prosectution have been, the defense have got to have something up their sleeve, otherwise it's guilty guilty guilty.

"As he walked in, he could see Letby standing over Child K's incubator. He could see Child K's oxygen levels were falling. However, the alarm was not sounding and Lucy Letby was making no effort to help.
"Dr Jayaram went straight to treat Child K and found her chest was not moving, he asked Letby if anything had happened to which she replied, “she’s just started deteriorating now”.

12:48pm

Dr Jayaram found Child K's breathing tube had been dislodged.
Child K was very premature, and had been sedated and inactive. The tube had been secured by tape and attached to Child K's headgear.
Mr Johnson: "It's well recognised if you handle a child you can dislodge the tube accidentally, but any experienced staff member would recognise that.
"Dr Jayaram was troubled as the levels were falling and Nurse Letby had been the only person in the room."

This is too much … and I’m sure it’s going to get much worse.

I don’t understand why people are passing such judgement on the people that believe she’s guilty. We’re all entitled to our opinion. I think she’s guilty, thought she was as soon as I saw she had been arrested multiple times. Reading the court transcript on twitter by Judith has only further made me believe she’s guilty. I’d be interested to see what defence she has but I think a lot of the things I’ve read today only have one clear denominator and inexcusable. My heart goes out to the parents, especially if they see people defending LL, that would break my heart further.

Can’t quote it now because the threads locked but @Lucyxxxx its a reply to your comment about thinking she’s the scape goat. I think the opposite! I don’t know why but I think she’s done this. It’s the digging up her garden for me why on earth would they do that

Sounds like a lot of work, thank you in advance x
Yes I’m wondering if I will live to regret taking it on! But I’m motivated as it will help me too.

I will be keeping it as a high level summary, I will probably just leave it at opening statements for prosecution and defence and not get bogged down in the evidence.

I’ve made a start anyway. I’ll ask for the pink button to be added.

Just out of interest, the people who think she is innocent at this stage, is there any particular reason why? I’m all for innocent until proven guilty etc, just wondered if there’s been any point so far that people have been like no she can’t have done it
I don't think she's necessarily innocent...I just don't know if she's guilty, it's a very different thing. I think the circumstantial evidence at this stage is overwhelming and I can see why it all points to guilty for many people, but I've also heard stuff that I think could be easily explained away by a defence. Funnily enough, it's the strange behaviour that so many people think is damning, that I think might be nothing. For example, the searching is unprofessional but could easily just be no more than that. Also the bathing the baby story could be one of those things where the parents memory of it is worse in hindsight, with the knowledge of the charges against her. It's fairly normal for someone to smile when being sympathetic and trying to support, also, we have no proof that the conversation about the first bath was initiated by LL, it could have been her trying to help by initiating positive memories (funnily enough I work with SEN children and we do a class where we help them to think of how to support a grieving friend and talking about good memories is one)..perhaps she just has really bad bedside manner (we're less forgiving of that in woman.)
All this doesn't mean that I think she's innocent...I just think that to convict her of such heinous crimes is going to need some rock solid evidence and it will have to be the medical side of things (so the Drs concerns are far more telling.)

A failing hoapital with already poor care practice provides opportunity for someone with ill intent towards the babies to harm them and not raise suspicions at least for a while
