They were able to convince a jury with Beverly Allitt, who was partial to the old insulin. They also convinced a Jury with Shipman, who liked his opiates - namely Diamorphine, which is also known as heroin.

Diamorphine, once it’s in the body, is rapidly transformed into morphine. They explained this process to the jury, who understood, and convicted.

I will bet my house on this - with anyone willing to actually complete this bet in a legal fashion. Because I know I’ll be keeping my house

She’s going down.

I wonder if the salsa texts are to show she’s done this and just doesn’t care? She’s left work, knowing she’s set this baby up with a TPN bag poisoned with insulin that she knows has the potential to kill at worst or make the baby extremely poorly at best and rather than sitting at home feeling guilty or regretting what she’s done, she’s off out dancing with a colleague. It shows she’s completely removed from any kind of normal emotional response to what she’s doing.
That was my thought on this. She's set that bag up knowing a baby is going to slowly die and she's fucked off to Salsa, to what kill the time to stop herself excitedly checking her phone for updates? She even texted her colleague on her way home for an update. Absolutely chilling.

Someone did it. If it wasn’t LL, it was someone else. All fingers and stats point to LL.

I know not everyone sees it as simply as that but I do. Lock her up and throw away the key.

This is how I see it as well. Someone harmed those babies, no doubts about it and currently all the evidence points to her.

Judging by the state of some of the facebook comments, that would not be a very wise bet to make tbh.

The Facebook mindset comes from a combination of factors:

1. limited intellect of the contributors to the group
2. Herd mentality (she’s a woman too, she couldn’t have done this)
3. She doesn’t LOOK like a serial killer
4. I suspect there are a few perverts on there, that just love serial killers.

Imagine buying a new car, and it breaks down the second you drive it out of the garage, and the mechanic says “but it looks so new, it couldn’t be broken”

or you go to a top quality restaurant, and your meal looked beautifully presented, but you got food poisoning. “Oh no, it couldn’t have been the food I ate there, it looked too nice”

This hardwired concept we as humans have, that how someone looks = their personality is an extremely dangerous and flawed aspect of evolution.

NEVER judge a book by its cover. If you play with fire, you’ll get burnt.

And what makes you so sure that there won’t be people exactly like that on the jury?

I find it crazy that there’s just the two lawyers on this! I know they will each have a team behind them working on things but this case is a colossal minefield! The research they must have had to do is immense.
They each have a team and we sometimes hear from other members of the prosecution team. Apparently there is quite a lot of legal staff on both sides - it was noted in the podcast.

I do think that there will have been many cases of her harming babies for small, undetectable amounts of times. We’ve already heard from a nurse that said Letby wouldn’t call for help when one baby deteriorated but the nurse can’t recall which baby it was so they may not be in this case.. I believe she shouted at her for seeking help.

It’s effectively another caught in the act moment.
There’s more than one occasion she delays/doesn’t get help/tells others not to get help. She actually has done it multiple times we will hear about. Only catching up on today now so little behind

Gonna be honest, I have my doubts she will even go down for the insulin stuff. For me it really hangs on the c-peptide levels and proving that the insulin was deliberately administered, but that sort of thing is actually really complicated to understand. I’m educated more than the average person in this area and even I struggle to understand the science behind it to be honest, that’s why I think it will be really hard to convince a jury of her guilt.
See I disagree, I think for the reasons you stated above is why we can absolutely make allowances for why the doctors and staff at the hospital didn’t take the readings further at the time. And can rule out negligence on their part. They wouldn’t have necessarily understood the results or connected the dots because it is a confusing science. However, an expert and specialist in the subject area would absolutely be able to interpret them without any doubt. If what we are suggesting is correct, I assuming the prosecution will call someone to give evidence concerning the readings and clarify what they mean one way or another.

In the BA case, the doctors didn’t understand the results but a specialist they brought in could and was what kick started the proper investigation and made them realise that they were dealing with a SK.

(My musing’s now and not necessarily in reply to you)

The part I was struggling to understand though, was the difference between one of BAs victims insulin levels and baby F’s. BA’s victims levels were in the tens of thousands but baby F’s were in the thousands (still high but comparably much much lower). So if you compare them perhaps there is some sort of doubt, BA’s victim there was no doubt. I was scratching my head about it tbh. I know Letby could have given the most tiny amount but it still didn’t make much sense to me. Why would she ? If she wanted to murder baby F. However, we know that insulin has a short detection life and is broken down by the liver quite quickly. BA’s victim was administered an adult syringe full all at once! Letbys alleged victim was drip fed the insulin over a prolonged period of time. So I am thinking because baby F wasn’t given insulin in one single shot the levels wouldn’t be comparable to BA’s victim. Very clever really if is she indeed guilty

@OldBlondie Going back to insulin and c-peptide, I was trying to think of an analogy last night to try and explain it. I thought of fire, the light of a flame being insulin and the heat being c-peptide. A real flame (insulin) would always let off heat (c-peptide) they go together hand in hand you can’t have the light of a real fire without the heat, and therefore, real insulin without c-peptide. However, if you have an artificial flame you would still get the light source (synthetic insulin) but no heat or at least very little in comparison and not from that source.
Excellent analogy, thank you so much for taking the time, I think I’m finally getting what you and docmum have taken the time to really clearly explain, so thanks to you both again. At least for the next insulin you’ll not have to explain it all over again on the plus side 🤣

Lucy was still going on nights out with the nursing team in January 2017. This was after being moved to admin duties I believe? If so, she’s clearly on good terms with them all despite the accusations.
Just because that photo was posted in 2017 doesn’t mean that’s when it was taken. JJK has reposted old photos loads of times in her fb profile if you look through them all. But yes they were good friends at a point it seems

LL, like all psychopaths, will have worn a ‘mask of sanity’ and will have manipulated her colleagues.
I’m absolutely convinced she’s a psychopath

It was taken then. I went down a rabbit hole and its on several accounts.

Ah I wasn’t aware. What podcast is this please? I’ve seen it referenced a few times so would like to have a listen.

I agree. I think the insulin stuff is becoming more over complicated than needs be.

Bottom line is, the insulin has been proven to be synthetic & there’s no way it was an accident. That’s all anyone needs to know really.

Someone did it and it’s looking likely to be LL.
I agree also there’s two posters on here that have explained it really simply on why it can only be synthetic insulin. It doesn’t have to be over complicated for the jury. Once they understand it can’t be synthetic (which the expert will break down and explain for them), and they realise it can’t have been done by accident/mistake, where else does that leave them? That there’s two poisoners, and I don’t think there’s anyone that thinks there’s 2 separate poisoners on that unit. That really is it with this one

They were able to convince a jury with Beverly Allitt, who was partial to the old insulin. They also convinced a Jury with Shipman, who liked his opiates - namely Diamorphine, which is also known as heroin.

I agree, I think she’s going down too and would also bet my house on it. There’s just too much for it to be bad luck/coincidence. Can’t wait to see @MmmB777 black and white spreadsheet on it 🤣

When you put it like that 😱 chilling to the core it really is

Doesn‘t seem like anyone is so far, is court in session today?
Does anyone know who is reporting today please?
I haven’t found anyone and I’ve searched everywhere, the journalists haven’t even responded to people asking on Twitter. I PMd Dan and he hasn’t replied yet either. Wonder is it a half day? @Tofino are you able to check if they’re sitting today, I don’t have a clue how to do that

Is mmmb777 the same guy on the Facebook groups who spreadsheets everything? I must say, that takes dedication. I wonder what he works as, having all that free time?

I’ve just watched the Tiny Lives episode 1 documentary that someone recommended. It’s really fascinating and gives a good insight into what goes on for people that don’t have much awareness of that area.

I think the more people that watch things like that, the more people will understand that these babies don’t just collapse. There are signs and they go downhill generally beforehand. They also quite often recover, even if they have to be resuscitated.

You can also see why the doctors make some of the decisions they do. It really is a balancing act trying to progress these babies so that they are fit enough to go home.
