Is there any other medical reason (and yes I’m sure this will have been looked at), that a baby who perhaps has been outwardly seeming to do well could suddenly deteriorate after receiving fluids/feeds etc? Can a sudden influx of something create an imbalance in their tiny bodies that they don’t react well to? Thinking back to the baby who’d had no fluids for 4 hours.

Even more horrendous it certainly is going to be the further we go on. And you are right I also think the coincidences will stack up to be so high they can’t be explained away, with lots more and contradictions that also can’t be reasonably explained away either

I completely agree with this. I can definitely see her looking down her nose at any NQNs who started on NICU and perhaps tried to undermine them.
I've found in healthcare the older nurses can also be the bitchiest and the cliquiest (is that even a word)
There's one nurse on my old ward who was the worst for this, infact she nicknamed me appendix when I went off sick with appendicitis. She was the organiser of all the ward outings and get togethers. She was a real old school nurse, she also drove a fiat 500. She was our old basic witch
My best friend in the world however is 20 years older than me and is the nurse who took me under her wing when I first entered the big bad fiesty world of nursing, she's my cool work Mum who drives a golf
Yes this! Her coming across as frumpy is not relevant as such and I get why people are saying that, and about bringing her parents into this. But it’s painting part of the bigger picture, and you’ve said it perfectly what I think some of us were trying to say about her dress sense and not really any friends her same age so dressing like she’s older etc.
But this is business as usual on a NICU, when they say unexpected they mean unexpected in the setting, so taking account of the possibility of stuff like this.

See the phrasing of ‘unexpected’ really bothers me somehow. Maybe it’s just because I don’t work in that setting. But to me, if something was to be ‘expected’ then presumably you could prevent it. Of course there will always be anomalies and things that happen unexpectedly.
I also keep circling back to the whole unexpected ‘if you don’t know you can’t know’ idea - if these babies weren’t being monitored appropriately, temperatures taken when they should have been etc, then of course any ‘sudden’ decline would appear sudden, because the subtle signs had been missed. Indeed in some of these babies we ARE hearing of deteriorating signs that seem to have been overlooked.

It’s not that I don’t think it’s relevant, I’m fascinated to be truthful. It had just gone a bit year 9 and I felt sad for all the nurses who aren’t murderers but get crap breaks because people don’t like their boots.
I don’t think she’s really interested in clothes but she maybe lacks enough confidence in her looks to care, if that makes sense? The photos we’ve seen are presumably from her own socials so chosen by her, the face pulling is a bit “I’m mad me!” which I think often is a cover for “if I do this it doesn’t matter that I’m not pretty”. I mean I’ve done similar myself, just put my hand over my face when sitting next to a professional model at a wedding for example.
Doesn’t insecurity sometimes make people cross rather than sad? And adoring parents whose opinion isn’t shared by the wider world. Like an incel type mentality. I dunno, she’s an interesting one. Lots to speculate on. Anyway, best go do some keys to justify my tit house

It seems that most of the babies were being administered things like saline and glucose which shouldn’t have caused a problem. The volume would have been very carefully worked out by weight for each baby so should have been appropriate. Unused lines are flushed at regular intervals, I’m thinking every week or so for older children, not sure about neonates, to keep them patent and guard against clotting, so 4 hours is well within the time frame.
If a specific drug, that could cause an allergic reaction, was being administered this should be known and increased obs ordered.
I don’t think anything is ever 100% in medicine so there is a possibility of a very unusual event.

My wife dresses like a 15 year old boy who likes heavy metal, she's tall and chunky and lovely as squishy. She doesn't care about fashion etc, never has nor will.
Doesn't mean she'd kill anyone for being different.
But if she was on trial for murder I fully expect she'd have people asking if she was listening to marilyn manson and lighting fires in bins.
(Neither of those things has she done. Just asked her to double check)
If you're on trial everything about you is questioned, is your home immaculate? Are you so glamorous that you're secretly riddled with insecurity and over compensating?
Do you look so ordinary because of fear of standing out?
Are you in debt for designer labels or are you dirty in unwashed clobber?
Everything will be scrutinised to try and paint a picture, please nobody get offended.
My fashion choices are a joke and my wife asks me, "off to a hoedown are you jess?" If I'm channelling my inner cowgirl, but if I was on trial they'd be questioning my boots and studded belts to paint a picture of my personality.
This is such a sad and serious case and I know joking around through such a case isn't everyone's cuppa but it's such a triggering case for any of us, parent or not, a light hearted chat or bit of personal experience etc kind of make these threads feel less glum.
I personally cant cope with hearing about the babies families etc but I'm hugely invested in who lucy is. The actual crimes and those poor parents hurts the soul, but I'm very intrigued by LL as a person.
