He’s in retail banking isn’t he? The bonuses he’d get will be tens of thousands which I appreciate is a lot of money, but after tax etc isn’t life changing. It’s enough to do the house up but not maintain this bizarre facade. I'm not listening to Lorna, I've pointed out he's only in retail & tbh he's in a non technical role so won't be earning mega ££. But a £10k-20k bonus would be like 10 - 15% of his annual salary which really isn't an unlikely scenario. And because he's in a non technical role & likely a hugely overpaid relic of the old school, he's at high risk of redundancy too - so should calm down on the old barclaycard.
For his age and the lifestyle they pretend to have £10-20k is a very small bonus. I know that’s a lot of money for a lot people but in the grand scheme of things it’s duck all.

re OAP’s salary and bonus, im 36 and work in finance, not showing off, but my bonus this summer was more than £20k and it all went straight into my pension rather than my bank account. The tax man usually takes 40% and if I were to buy a Chanel handbag that wouldn’t leave all that much to save. I suspect he is pretty stretched financially having to fund LL’s ridiculous bag babies and Is hanging on for for dear life until the generous redundancy payment comes. First £30k is tax free after all...
