This definitely happened. Did Liam’s dad tell your sister’s friend personally why he was flying out? Over a coffee in Pret in the departure lounge maybe? 🤔
?
you’d notice someone getting escorted at your place of work

It must be a weird situation for the rest of 1D. The expectation of the level of grief is at odds with the reality of their relationship with Liam.

It’s like being expected to publicly grieve and declare love over a workmate you spent an intense amount of time with years ago but don’t really know any more.

Entertainment is such a bizarro world.

As someone who had a bipolar partner it screams bipolar to me with how he acts, periods where he seems to be getting his life together and then it all falling apart again and him acting erratic. Not uncommon for them to go to drugs and alcohol while in a hypo/manic and he seems like he’s not been in a good way for a while now.

My ex was very similar in the way Maya has described him to be, but then could also be the loveliest person when he was stable. But he’d get manic and angry and do horrible things then come back down, go in to depression and be sorry and say he was going to kill himself. Also the interviews where he is very full of himself is prime bipolar behaviour with the feelings of grandeur.

It is sad, his girlfriend left 2 days ago and her tik tok made it seem like she had definitely had enough with whatever was going on, and when someone is manic you absolutely cannot get through to them, but her leaving would’ve sent him even worse (not that she is to blame in any way, as it’s a bloody difficult place to be in when someone is like that)

Judging by his behaviour leading up to this I think he was definitely manic (and that can be bought on by stress such as Maya exposing him) and on drugs and either it was an intentional jump to end his life or he may have truly believed he was invincible and could just fly off that balcony (extreme I know but witnessing someone in a bipolar manic is wild and the things they truly believe about themselves you just can’t comprehend)

Very sad for all involved 😔

I’ve just had sky news on, where they’ve been interviewing various music journalists, who were basically saying this brings home the tragic reality of what so much limelight at such a young age can create. 2 minutes later the news reader asks ‘with liam dying maybe they will bring Xfactor UK back’

Just ignoring everything the journalists had said about safe guarding etc 🫠

I know it's been a long-time since his first foray into X Factor, but crikey - the idea of putting 14 year olds under that level of scrutiny (it's hard to remember just how big X Factor was 2008-2010) is almost barbaric.
Remember when Louis did a live performance a day or two after his mum died? Simon Cowell and everyone were like 'He *wants* to do it' but it was so clear at the time that the performance should have been pulled, he was in no fit state. All they ever cared about was ratings.

Everything has to be a conspiracy theory now 🙄

Not just someone high and not in complete control of their actions who made a grave error in their behaviour.

All these celebs leaving tributes, I bet we don’t see half of them at the funeral. Just seen Katie Waissel on channel 5 making out they were best mates, he didn’t even follow her on Instagram.

I’m not even a 1D fan, but Louis’ and Zayn’s posts have choked me up 💔

I think the two of them in particular have been in dark places themselves and it has probably hit them really hard.

My thoughts are with the poor young boy having to be told that Dad chose drugs/alcohol over being a parent to him.
I’m very far behind in this thread but a lot of people on here clearly do not understand addiction issues. As someone who has dealt with them personally, you cannot just switch it off. No matter what. Go and do some learning.

I watched 2 recent podcasts with him on one with Steven Bartlett & one with Jake Paul & in both of them I just felt as if he was a lost soul, I got the impression that he thought he was a 'bigger star' than he really was, as if he was in the same vain as Harry Styles, he was touted when he left 1D as the next Justin Bieber, but nothing really came of it & that must be hard on your well being, even watching the podcasts I felt as if the way he was was only going to end one way, 😔, but no disrespect to him but for GMTV to call him a 'music legend', & he 'set the marker down in music history' really???? He was hardly a John Lennon, Prince or Michael Jackson , but at least now he is free from his demons 😔

losing a parent at any age is tough, I was lucky though as i've over 30 years of memories. Poor little Bear wont have that.
it makes me sick knowing his family could've found out via social media
It hits home for me cause my child’s dad died at 32 suddenly she wasn’t even 2

I think the power dynamics between Liam/Cheryl are a bit murky (I didn't realise until I googled it just now that he was as young as he was when they got together - 21/22 from what I can work out?) but I don't think it's as straight forward as 'if the roles were reversed it would be unacceptable'. I certainly don't think it's comparable to Schofield, or even Flak when she dated Harry when he was 17 and she was in her 30s (?).

With the latter examples, the power imbalance is huge, not just with respect to age but with where all the parties were in their respective careers and the influence they could have over the other. We now know that CF had long standing MH issues and would not have been easy to be in a relationship with - especially when you're 17 and in the biggest boyband ever (I'm not sure where they were in their trajectory at that point, I imagine Harry was already way more famous than Caroline but had no experience managing it all, and was still a child). Thankfully it seems H was actually pretty grounded with a strong support network around him, which potentially protected him from what could have turned into an abusive relationship of sorts.

However with Liam and Cheryl, I won't pretend I'm totally comfortable with it and the armchair psychologist in me wonders if it speaks to some insecurities in Cheryl, but I do think the power dynamics are different. Yes, they first met when he was 14 which has parallels to Schofield but, unlike PS, there's no evidence of her having any contact with him (beyond what would be professionally appropriate) between then and when they got together. There's no tweets/snaps/leaked whatsapps between the two back when he was underage which would to me suggest grooming. That isn't to say they don't exist, just that I haven't seen anything like that.

From what I understand, they got together after 1D performed on the X Factor. By that point all the boys were in their prime, biggest boy band in the world etc, Liam probably thought his star would never fall. Yes, he's a lot younger but he's not the same 14 year old lad who had her poster up on his wall all those years ago, he's now got the career and networth to match, if not surpass, hers. This important to understand because power dynamics are about how we stay trapped in unhealthy relationships - Liam always had the power to leave, and he did. I agree he was young and vulnerable, and if Cheryl was my mate at the time I would be questioning 'are you sure this is who you want to have your children with?' but I haven't seen any other evidence that would suggest to me it was an abusive relationship. To the contrary, Cheryl and Bear could have been the best thing that ever happened to him if he could just let himself be happy and loved. All of this said as an ignorant bystander of course.

He must have been in Bear’s life recently - this was before the release of his latest single and has just broken my heart.

as someone who lost a parent through addiction you can’t ever let yourself believe it was a choice, it’s the hardest battle to have in your own head and if you let it win then it’s a dangerous place to be for your own happiness and future. Not a huge fan of Cheryl but I think she will handle this in exactly the right way with Bear.

I hope people are looking out for Maya Henry.

You just know after her open and honest opinions this week that 1D freaks are going to blame her and go after her.
I can’t stop thinking about her I really hope she’s okay because she’s gonna get more hate than ever before. In no way is this her fault

I know this sounds a bit ridiculous, but i feel like this news has hit me hard even though I've never been a 1D fan. I think it's because my own son who is only 9 and has AuDHD is already showing signs that I think he will struggle with his mental health. i find this like this just make me so worried for what the future holds.

I haven’t followed the Liam Payne stuff at all and I don’t know anything about Maya Henry. I don’t know what he’s accused of doing.

But I’ve absorbed over recent months that he was behaving erratically, wasn’t in a good place and pretty obviously was spiralling into drugs.

I’m not sure what his ex was hoping to achieve by giving public interviews about him to what looks like a couple of teenagers.

I’m not defending him or attacking her but I think if someone is struggling and in a dark place, then you should be the bigger person and not stick the knife in.
I can understand your view, but on the other hand, she is allowed to tell her truth. She claims to have been abused by him - why should she keep quiet on that.

Louis & Zayn wrote such lovely tributes and added really lovely photos of them with Liam. Harry's read like a standard PR statement, which is fine, they obviously weren't close. But his, or his PR, choice of picture annoyed me. The color has to match his Instagram aesthetic and it's of the back of Liam's head... So it could be anyone really. It's like they didn't want to tarnish Harry's Instagram aesthetic with a picture reminder of 1D. That's so disrespectful. Just don't post anything at all then

It's dehumanising and we all deserve some dignity in death - people who take photos or videos are ghouls with no souls or conscience, imo.

Liam seemed to hint that he is bipolar but who knows what was going on. Mental illness sucks and it's so sad Bear has lost his dad. Absolutely tragic. Couldn't believe it when I read the headline.

I'm making a conscious effort not to look on social media so I don't see anything, I find all that stuff so upsetting - he isn't a thing to gain clicks, Likes or paparazzi money from, he is a human being.

He had a crack binge there's a crack pipe on the hotel room picture. Crack can make people do mad shit and develop drug induced psychosis. I hope it was instant for him.
