It should settle you, I don't know anyone who hasn't done a lesson before their test. It's a chance to get comfortable and also practice manoeuvres and make sure your mirrors are adjusted correctly for you.

My 17 year old brother was learning with him too but he suddenly sacked him and he’s waiting to learn with someone else. I’m wondering what he’s said to him!

2nd lesson done and I feel so much better. We did roundabouts today and I drove home on a 60 road I feel like I’m picking it up so well which is great.

Good luck with your test and if you don't pass, find a new instructor and report him. That isn't right.

Thank you both. Usually I would tell anyone to stfu but for some reason I couldn’t say it, I was making loads of stupid mistakes with my gears and speed. I’ll be dropping him if I fail.
I wonder if he is deliberately trying to put you off before your test, so that if you fail you then have to spend more on driving lessons? He sounds horrible, I really hope you pass your test but if not definitely find someone else, you shouldn't have to be putting up with that.
That’s so crappy, I’m sorry you have to be in that situation.
It’s easy to accept being in a car with an instructor as normal but it is actually quite a vulnerable position to be in and it needs to be a supportive safe space for you as a student. It’s hard to call people out on inappropriate behaviour in that setting so i hope you aren’t feeling bad about that aspect.
I hope you will pass your test and if you don’t it won’t be hard to find someone better to help you.
I’m not actively doing lessons at the moment but I think I will look for a new instructor as my last one said some things that made me very uncomfortable and like you it led to me making silly mistakes and feeling less in control.
The things this man said weren’t sexual but very weird and made me uncomfortable- jokes about disability and my children dying ?!?!

He needs to be reported to DVSA, they are the ones who provide him with a badge to instruct. Absolutely unacceptable behaviour.
Yes but also the police. It’s gone way beyond just reporting to the DVSA.

It is harassment. He is probably teaching persons as young as 17 as well. There is something seriously wrong with him to openly talk about that

He’s a 63 year old man (works for himself) and I know he teaches a lot teenagers. My own 17 year old brother took lessons with him but he’s dropped him, he wouldn’t say why but I wonder if he’s said something inappropriate to him.

if you're able to practice outside your lessons I found that really helped me. Plus lots of watching DGN driving school on YouTube- Status
