Going into the video all I could think was: "Who TF paints a kayak?" But I have to be honest, it actually looks really nice. K herself is still ridiculous tho, and the video is weird. #endofdispatchfromflavellland

I agree it looks nice but it is just the kind of thing someone who has no other responsibilties has the time for. I couldn't believe how many patreons she has

I’m watching out of boredom. Her demeaned is so odd, she spends most of the time talking to camera looking at the floor, she doesn’t seem happy and I am finding the dynamic between them increasingly strained, at one point she asks him when they got the kyack, he says last year (or something, I was hardly paying attention) and she asks no what mese? as if anyone (him included cares). It is so funny hearing the conversation between her and her dad, he has a very strong australian accent, obviously totally different from hers.
She is still claiming that garden party they had was her church wedding
You piqued my interest so I FF through. Why she is wearing a flowey and floral dress to present this work is beyond me. As you mentioned she seems awkward overall. And who cares when they bought the kayak...pre covid or whenever.

I wish she would pick ONE language (Eng would make most sense given her subs) and stick to it. Sometimes both in direct translation, sometimes Eng, sometimes in Italian, like this video. It's annoying.

Agree the difference in accents between her and her dad is striking.

As per her reply to an IG comment, she is currently in "northern Italy." I hope she isn't stinking up my corner. 😑😅 I wonder if she is in the Dolomites again, or perhaps on her way to Austria (in her Where to Honeymoon comments she told a sub she wanted to do some organic berry eating trek with her sister.)

👿"ORGANIC BERRY EATING TREK"😈
What pompous piffle on a par with her 'international bridesmaids'. Think we should compile a Flavell glossary asap.
No sense of irony whatsoever -God she must be so much fun to be around. Why can't we see Guido on his horse or summit??🐴

This was uncomfortable to watch. Nah this was ridiculous the the kayak looked nice plane white, quite chic really.
The result was quite kitschy cute, it’s just so much effort for something they will probably use twice! She drags that 40 kg boat all over the place in the heat, surely her efforts could be going into something more interesting, Daddy must busy finishing the chicken coup. On that, did anyone else find it creepy watching the shot where her Dad is leaning over her while she painted and the fact she calls him Daddy? I stopped calling my Dad “ Daddy” when I was about 10.
The kayak painting is not interesting content. She never lets the photography/ scenery speak for itself. Explaining why she did everything spoils the effects . 🤦🏼‍♀️
It would seem the heat has overcome her judgment. Hard Yakka KyLIE‘s reasons for jumping back and forward in time, skipping from one conversation to the other, shouting to off camera Daddy and Gweeds do not ammount to artful cinema .
If this is living the cinematic life I’ll stick with mine thanks .
Kayak looks quite cute though what did they name her “Me time” good ship “Squids” or maybe “Patreon’s Purse” ???
More Rouje dress advertising
I too would much prefer to see Guido astride a big black horse than in black bike shorts complaining
two wet arses, no fish from me 🤌🏽🐟

We really needed to watch a couple of minutes struggling with plastic in the wind.

Thought it quite funny how her accent disappeared when talking with her father.

Used the kayak once, previously; argued against buying it in the first place, couldn’t remember when it was.

ALL CAPS; “CHURCH WHERE WE GOT MARRIED”. When did THAT happen ? Certainly not at the garden party.

She strikes me as someone who is humoured by the rest of the family as they go about their daily business.

She seems to have had enough sense to read our posts through the week about how heavy the kayak would be with tiles glued on; I was looking forward to that !

How many St. Anthonys are there? I'm confused. Just looked it up in The Catholic Encyclopaedia and can find two. St. A. of Padua, which I knew because of the Santo in Padua 💕, and St. Anthony the Great with a Feast Day in January, so is there another? EDIT Just seen a list in Wiki. there are quite a lot!

@Spirit of place a spoof paper on fish might be fun. Am a tad concerned, though .... from Pulcinella to Pachyderm to Pesce ... is this the sign of a versatile intellect or Jack of all trades and master of none? A bit like K. with her many specialisms. 🤣
Thank-you @Spirit of place @PlinyinTorquay for wishing me buon onomastico, as I’m from the south we celebrate on January 17th for San Antonio Abate, who is one of the most beloved saints in Campania (and one of the most interesting as an early ascetic in Egypt). There are two paintings of him in one of my favourite little churches in Rome, near where I live.

I enjoyed your piece on William Hoare @PlinyinTorquay and how he studied in Italy for nine years under Pompeo Batoni in Rome, one of the most personable portraitists of aristocrats on the Grand Tour. I pass the house where he lived in Via Bocca di Leone 25 every day. The Venetian artist Rosalba Carriera is wonderful, her subtle pastel portraits are brilliantly expressive and full of feeling.

“As interesting as watching paint dry“ is literally the theme of Kylie’s new vlog🤦🏼‍♂️ What a pointless exercise. Why recreate your bathroom stencils on a canoe? 😅 What an ego she has to expect people to watch this boring stuff! It all seemed to be about showing off: her amateur painting, speaking in her odd Italian, the digression into a pre-pandemic picnic with G, the neighbours’ watermelon and bread at the end...

It’s quite funny watching how she has taken on this new softly-spoken and demure persona (all that looking down @emm 🙄) for Guido and also is now taking on a strange Tuscan intonation when she speaks Italian. She is becoming even more of a simulacra of a simulacra of a KyLie that never existed🧐

I don't think that she has any idea what to vlog. She's all comfy on the country estate, bulging purse splitting at the seams, hanging with Gweeds and daddy. I mean what does Kylie actually do when she's not filming herself? She doesn't seem to have any interests other than showcasing Kylie version 3.2 ,or whatever we are up to now, once a week to her little community of diehard fans. I think she is as bored as us.

I am glad that you find her Italian odd, @Antonio, I was wondering how it must sound to an Italian. I find it incredibly irritating that she insists on speaking Italian as though she's doing her subs a favour...helping them learn the language, or appeasing the Italian speaking followers, of which I am sure she has pochi, when she is only doing it to show off. However it comes across as very unnatural imo but then that actually also applies when she speaks English

Yes @emm and @Denise0211 she seems super awkward and her stance is weird. For someone who claims to have a been a tv host it's interesting that she appears stiff and as though she is trying really hard to seem relaxed and as though she is having a great time.

Dear all, I have been following your discussions of art, Italy, travel and culture with great interest and have decided to join! I, too, am a refugee from the Kylie Klogs and could not believe I was the only one who thought her pretensions and view of Italy were often preposterous. Thank-you for the collegiate tone of the debates and the insights into the real K!

I think she is trying to bore us into extinction but keep going as the journey and digressions along the way are more interesting than her as the destination!

Can you add or edit your post or does it just repeat like mine above?

you can edit but only for a couple of minutes after posting

yeh it is also weird that she seemsto have become more awkward with a worse "presenting" style over time, the latest video looks like it is the first time she has been on camera. I genuinely think her and guido are having some relationship issues, it must be difficult being in the middle of nowhere with no way to independently leave as she can't drive, if I was her I would be using this time to learn rather than needlessly paint kyaks and cars

@Felicitas ... Flaming June, Sir Frederic Leighton.

@Rina Valtellina Yes, I really don't wish to watch somebody paint a kayak so I won't. Trouble is, I have nothing on-topic to contribute.
HOWEVER ...

on the subject of Rosalba Carriera. We had a beautiful painting by Rosalba in my last museum which I will share with you ... It's a very fine pastel portrait of Gustavus Hamilton, Lord Boyne. https://barber.org.uk/rosalba-carriera-1675-1757/. @Alessandro , I imagine your 'rakish' character, on your profile picture, would look something like this if he were going to Carnevale in Venice 💕

more to follow ...

@Antonio I am very interested in Rosalba, especially in terms of my ideas on last works of aging artists. There is this very poignant last self portrait of Rosalba in the Accademia, Venice, which she is said to have made after she had a painful procedure for cataracts and before she went blind. I've been exploring it in a paper called "Darkness in the Age of the Enlightenment." When I presented this paper, someone in the audience fainted.

Darkness in the Age of the Enlightenment: Rosalba Carriera and Cataract Surgery in 18-C Venice

There is a poignant and defiant self-portrait by the Venetian miniaturist and portraitist Rosalba Carriera (1675-1757), now in the Gallerie dell’Accademia, Venice. Traditionally it is held to have been made after she had temporarily recovered her eyesight following the removal of cataracts. This paper analyses Rosalba’s final self-representation and interrogates it in a number of ways: using the portrait as visual evidence to appreciate how it related to issues of Rosalba’s subjectivity and self-perception in the face of excruciating surgery which eventually resulted in blindness; understanding the artist’s disability in terms of the painful medical treatment which would have been available to her at the time, and in the light of the notes of the surgeon who operated on her on two separate occasions in 1749; through the examination of an eighteenth-century engraving depicting cataract surgery, and by considering cognate examples of contemporaries who underwent similar procedures, for example the composer George Frideric Handel and contextualizing blindness in eighteenth-century historical, philosophical and ideological frameworks.

@Antonio, St Ivo is one of my favourite churches in Rome. :)

I'm Catholic but crap at remembering them. 🙈 My ex was Francesco...everyone assumed after Assisi, but rather di Paola in Calabria. I enjoyed visiting that church overlooking the sea.

I'm happy you mentioned Kylie's strange Tuscan intonation. It drives me up a wall. "Sono andaTHa" "mi piashhe" "alluuura". If she begins aspirating her C's my eyes will roll out of my head. I get it is Guido's influence and her surroundings, but she seems like a try-hard.

Re: her Italian accent - not being Italian I didn't want to comment on it before an Italian did so it IS weird - the chameleon that she is wants to be Tuscan now - & all that changing mish mash of language and subtitles. The try-out on the lake as if it was an adventure up the Nile plus the close-ups of her face eyes narrowed & whitened teeth bared (try doing that in front of mirror, grotesque) the dress she has to keep closed in case we see her legs, so demure, only midriffs allowed....where is she going with all this? Her family do seem to be tip-toeing around her - the cinematic star 🌟🌟🌟 and grifter.
Btw she has earmarked a vlog about being sober in the comments to a girl with drink issues. If I ever watch that I def will not be sober at the end of it.🤢
