If it is Alan at the Priory Roehampton, he has a Postgraduate Diploma in in Addiction Psychology and Counselling. He's described as a Psychotherapist. I'm not sure if that makes him particularly qualified or not in the realms of being good enough for court?

I think KP did mention a consultant, so not sure if she's seen someone on the NHS too.

Not that I know much about this but when my middle lad got diagnosed with a mental health problem, severe anxiety disorder, he was referred by the GP to see a consultant psychiatrist ( needed for a diagnosis) .
He had been seeing a psychotherapist for a couple of years before his diagnosis , but she was not able to diagnose him, only treat him with listening therapies.
This is Ireland, but as far as I know here you need to see a consultant psychiatrist to get a formal diagnosis.
