The anti c section brigade always say “it’s major abdominal surgery”, like a mantra, like it’s too horrific to contemplate and should be avoided at all costs.

Guess what? Labour and vaginal birth is horrifically painful, often traumatic and - potentially - irreversibly damaging to your pelvic floor and tina.

Having experienced a birth injury, I can confidently say that recovering from a c section was a piece of cake compared with recovering from a birth injury, and I would have done it ten times over rather than experience a single contraction ever again (not that I did - I have two kids 😅).

I don’t want this thread to turn into Mumsnet yet again, like the barbed remarks about Kate stopping breastfeeding the other day, but it’s pretty crappy to say she didn’t have a justifiable fear of natural childbirth and needed to “give it a go”.
As I presume that is aimed at me, I would just like to clarify that 1. It IS major abdominal surgery whether you like it or not and 2. 'There is no anti c section brigade' on this thread.

Its called tokophobia, its real, very real. As real as my fear of heights. Many of us have fears around giving birth but know that it has to happen, for someone with tokophobia its crippling.

I kind of think kates damned if she does damned if she doesn’t. Everyone wants her to get the help she needs but then she gets called out for having it. I’m all for getting granny round/hiring a doula - whatever you can do that helps! On a personal note I wouldn’t have been able to sleep through the night while someone else was tending to my newborn. I felt incredibly possessive of my little one in the first few months. Also the vest thing is annoying me too - layer that little girl up please 🥴

I feel sorry for Kate - her baby has been in & out of hospital in her first 3 weeks of life, it must be terrifying for her.

I was VERY lucky that my baby slept - but a friend of mine had a baby who didn't & she was almost going crazy with sleep deprivation. She got in a night nanny to protect her mental health, she needed sleep. I don't blame her at all.

My brother in law was 42 when his first was born. It was like watching a car crash in slow motion.
My dad was 50 and his wife 40 when they had my little sister. I was 24 at the time so it’d been a long time since he’d had to do anything baby related

I hated the newborn stage my baby cried all day & just wouldn’t settle the same at night.
I was a wreck if I could have afforded help then I would have jumped at it.
You do what you have to do to survive those early months 🤷🏼‍♀️

The mum shaming & sanctimony on here is unreal. Wow.
Oh I don’t know, I think considering it’s a non rave thread most of us (me included) have been quite supportive and sympathetic to Kate. I guess anyone who posts their life on a public platform is going to get people commenting on things.

I spent hours and hours scrolling the internet and putting everything else off. I did have PND and it was my way of shutting off. No one knew I was depressed until I spoke up 2yrs later.

Cut a bit of slack. She was against having kids, now she has one during a pandemic without close family support and she was back & forth to hospital at first. I just think as a FTM, these first few months, you are more vulnerable than you even realise.

To sum up my thoughts on Kate:

1) I can totally understand how she is struggling. Having a newborn is beyond hard.

2) I don’t blame them for doing the MTV show. It no doubt pays very well and who can blame them for wanting to earn money?

3)The dog sick photo and bra photo were both rank

I hate this whole Instagram thing of sharing the most hideous things, Charlotte Dawson waving a poo explosion, Kate’s nipple pads and dog sick they can keep all that thanks.

Can't have sympathy that she is doing it in a pandemic or for anyone who has a relative newborn, was a bloody pandemic when they got pregnant. Totally different for those that had babies last year. Also I know we shouldn't put our lives on hold because of it, although you could argue we have had to, but should have at least been a consideration that you would have to care for a newborn without support 🤷‍♀️

Reality is always different though innit. What you thought life would be like, and what it actually ends up as.

It’s just so gross! I also hate it when instagrammers post a photo of themselves crying. If they genuinely were upset they wouldn’t think ‘oh! Must take a photo’

I mentioned the clothes situation politely to Boj and got a firey response and blocked. They both need to grow up. Adults in the 40s behaving like teenagers but with the care of a newborn. Frightening and also a bit sickening.

What did you expect though? We all know how annoying it is getting unsolicited advice and wellmeaning guff said when you have a baby.

Honestly, it just baffles me how easy and often Mums will berate and judge other mums when we all know how tough, crappy, boring and relentless it can all be.

He’s as ridiculous and irritating as his stupid nickname is. You were offering genuine advice, Noa isn’t adequately dressed a lot of the time so they need to take note.

I don't actually care how he feels and what he says to me, I'm just concerned about the kid. It's not guff, Noa will end up with a cold-related illness.
