His subs are impressive but his actual views and engagement are tit for that subscriber level. I can't imagine shorts bring in that much money compared to vlog ads
Oh definitely, imagine how embarrassing it’ll be if/when he reaches 1m subs and he’s still getting between 10-30k views on his regular vlogs.

Unless they're paying bank on those shorts, JoJo's probably going to end up regretting letting the opportunity in entertainment pass him by.

Youtube shorts/tiktok/reels etc I always think of as the social media version of junk food. Quick and fun to consume, but quickly forgettable and on to the next thing. People consume a lot but also move on very quickly with little investment or loyalty

I’m guessing he buys his subscribers for them to be multiplying so quickly. On his livestreams, only about 500 people at the most watch and only a few thousand watch his videos. Who are these people subscribing and not watching? If you’ve newly subscribed to someone, surely you’d watch their videos, at least for a while? It just seems a bit suspicious.
He had a YouTube Short last week with 20 million views so far and several in the last few weeks with several hundred thousand views each. It’s not unexpected that many of those viewers are then subscribing to his channel. However, it’s evident that they are subscribing to watch the Shorts and not the long form videos, so the regular videos have much lower viewer counts.

He’s had the same problem for a long time getting his TikTok followers (now 700,000) to go over to YouTube and watch the long videos. His short videos are more popular. He’s really good at creating popular short videos.

Google/YouTube does pay for the Shorts. Unsure how payments get calculated. Seems Google/YouTube wants to capture some of the TikTok audience.

“The YouTube Shorts Fund is a $100M fund to reward creators for their dedication to making creative, original Shorts that delight the YouTube community.”

The entertainment position would have provided a decent set of benefits, including health insurance. Guess he prefers a less scheduled lifestyle.

I can't imagine the Shorts pay at the same rate as the longer videos. It just seems awfully risky, especially since, as much as it pains me to admit this, JoJo really would do well as part of the WDW entertainment staff.

That fund doesn't seem a lot when you consider how many people are on youtube and how many shorts there are

It's probably just a reflection that I'm basically stuck at home while I recover from my surgery, but I've actually kind of been enjoying some of JoJo's recent videos. Like, yes, I know he's a sociopath, but he's been an entertaining one.

Or maybe I'm just living vicariously for all the time he's spent in Epcot. I was legit impressed he managed to hit every ride.

Maybe what he can get off a few million views on a short is not far off from what he earns for a few thousand views on his long form videos.

No I agree with you. I think he's realized that gaining subscribers doesn't necessarily mean more views for his vlogs, so he's trying to put more effort into that side of things.

Hi, JoJo. I know you're reading here now.

$17 for 30 million views of a short isn't going to pay your bills.

That’s all he got? Wow. That’s a far cry from the $1.5m social blade says he gets yearly. I wonder if Tik Tok pays better? He may as well stay primarily on there if so.

I never believe those websites. At the end of the day, Jojo’s sharing a mouldy apartment with two other guys. None of the Disney vloggers earn that sort of money, not even the ones who have been doing it for 10+ years.

Just to say social blade can be pretty accurate, and sometimes under estimate.

However I wonder if the new youtube shorts have thrown off social blades algorithms as if it just uses views to estimate and can't differentiate between normal vlog views and shorts which pay much less

If someone is earning 1.5m a year and they are renewing a lease on some crappy frat house, then there are some serious problems.

If true, he could literally buy a nice villa outright for cash for a years work, and be set for life. At least, that's what I would do..

He better hope he has a few more $17 shorts if he has to pay off a bathing suit and an incredibly expensive dinner at Citricos.

I’m sure he still has many, many positions that he hasn’t used yet to pull the sword from the stone, and many, many more characters to dress up as doing it to keep those $17 shorts flowing. He can always go back to lightsabers and annoying Chewie if it’s still not paid off by that point.

He hasn't been nearly as insufferable as his bratty roommate the past few weeks, but yikes at his tone deaf IG stories today... Not really an ideal time for a "Let's make this a fun and joyful weekend!" post.

Like, your whole living is centered around social media, is he that blinded by his bull brand of toxic positivity that reality is nonexistent? Disney and Universal themselves have even addressed it with support for their employees so how could he not have seen that?
