I think you might be right about it becoming westernised, or americanised. Just like Müller became Mueller, the US special counsil against Trump.

It just sound a little odd to my ears.

Aw, I love that the German comms keep mentioning Bae with high praise.

That was so nice.

And it's weird how the one of the American announcers says Puh-LISS-ick because I'm used to PUHL-iss-ick (most common and I think closest to the way he says it himself) or PEWL-iss-ick from English announcers (but also one of the American announcers is saying it this way, too.)
