I don’t believe it was BG purely because as PP have said he’d have had to be there for hours waiting and I reckon loads of people would have said early on “oh I saw a guy hanging around outside there for hours”.

And while he’s definitely a massive wrong one it doesn’t fit his previous crimes at all, to go from sexual offences to just executing someone. I think the police needed someone to nail for it and he was a convenient local creep with the added “bonus” of criminal events in his past. Just like that landlord they tried to fit up for murdering a tenant and it turned out it wasn’t him.
Also, he went to the HAFAD Centre 20 minutes after the murder. I doubt he could have done that so soon after a murder?

Mrs Bicknell said George had been to the centre at 11.50am on the day Ms Dando died, 20 minutes after the shooting.

The prosecution allege that George shot Ms Dando, then changed his clothes and went to Hafad to establish an alibi. He has denied murder.

I also read he was questioned about the murder of Rachel Nickel on Wimbledon Common, so I can imagine he did want to establish his alibi which is why he went back to the Centre a few days later asking them to confirm what time he had been there?

Yeah it just doesn’t add up at all and the one particle is so ridiculously flimsy it screams fit up.

I get that his “if I did it” comes across as weird though he’s probably desensitised to it all after two trials - but he has a point, if he had there would either have been way more stuff to find on the coat or they’d never have found the coat. Not found the coat with one particle.

He’s also hardly a master criminal having been caught so many times previously too so I’m not buying he managed to almost perfectly launder the coat apart from the one particle, surely he’d just chuck it out, it’s not like he didn’t have time.

I watched and enjoyed, but didn't think it particularly revolutionary or providing any new insight.

For me the big issue is she wasn't living there at the time and only people close to her knew she would be there again that time. So either her ex, her fiance or her manager hired a hitman as they only knew her routine and evidence shows she wasn't followed.

Or it was Barry George who just happened to get 'lucky'. There were so many issues with him
Yeah exactly, I said this on another thread. It’s surely significant she was doing this adhoc day, so whoever has hired the hit knew she would be popping to Gowan avenue.

I have never believed that Barry George was guilty. He’s an oddball and deeply unpleasant by the sounds of things, but that doesn’t make someone a murderer. It had all the hallmarks of a professional hit job. I also didn’t like the ex partner, and neither did Jennie Bond going by the way she reacted to him being mentioned. One of them had said he was controlling.

Firstly, we can’t ignore that the BBC were possibly aware of Saville crimes for the majority of this time there. No one spoke up or attempted too.
So if it is indeed the case that Jill Dando had plans to put this, then they would stop her and silence her. And still today people would deny knowledge.
I agree with the lawyer of Barry, in a case like this the evidence is usually there in plain sight. I fully believe that Barry did not have the capacity to commit an assassination type murder. Also I don’t think the perpetrator acted alone. It was planned. I think he ex knows more than he’s letting on.

Let’s face the honest truth, more will come out about the operation yew tree scandal. There is still information we do not know as the public. And that’s the issue. Other people, high up are connected to the case and savilles ring.

An intelligent person would understand how media spin works, and how others are used to take away the attention from others. What if Barry was just a distraction. Things were planted. Lone recluse desperate for fame, sort after by the elite as a scape goat? For me that fits. The fact he used Gary Glitters surname at one point gave me goosebumps.

I’m a firm believer things like this are in plain sight.

Barry George only job recorded was a messenger at the BBC.
I agree - It's no urban myth that the BBC was a dirty vipers nest of sleaze that allowed Hall, Savile, Glitter, Harris and countless others to get away with crimes for 40+ years. And they were helped by many others there, more than likely higher ups who were also involved but weren't celebs so wouldn't be so easily identifiable.

Dando worked there, she was a do-gooder, a commited christian who would've spoken out had she seen or heard something. With reputations, money and serious prison time, it's not unthinkable someone panicked.

A professional hit could be bought for around £10,000 - £15,000 back then (and please, before you argue, I had very firm connections with the heavy underworld at the time due to my work in the then illegal hardcore porn industry) not much to pay if you're likely to be outed as a child rapist and facing 25+ years in prison.

Completely agree. To put it bluntly, he's very simple and would not have had the nous and/or the wherewithal to carry out such a professionally done cold killing. He was an easy target because he had a myriad of mental health issues and was the convenient 'oddball' when they got desperate to charge someone. My money is on the ex-partner tbh, absolutely awful old twit.

Yeah. It’s a tale as old as showbiz itself. She had been his protege. He’d picked her out from regional television, gave her a make over and put her on the 6 0’clock news and then a few years down the line she presumably got sick of his controlling ways and ended things. Her career goes from strength to strength without him and he doesn’t like it.

So rather than just ignore her, or at the least try to discredit her and railroad her career, he just had her shot? Seems a little bit extreme.

He came across very, very badly, clearly a total misogynist.

I can’t decide who I think did it, but I’m sure it wasn’t BG.

I do reckon it was probably a hit so she was killed on behalf of someone who kept their own hands clean. I lean towards it being a message of some sort - to shut her up and shut others up too so either the child abuse theory or the Serbian theory could fit those. Her agent seems like a twit but I can’t see him being enough of a twit to have ordered a hit personally but I could see him being involved indirectly - providing a tip off she was going to be headed there maybe? To protect himself like a coward by complying rather than actively wanting her dead seems more likely to me.

What if the reason they never found out who did it and why the investigation was hampered and went round in circles for so long was it was someone attached to the very organisation who were supposed to be solving it who was involved?

The Met also can’t he trusted. As far they’re concerned BG did if and that’s why there haven’t been any new leads or suspect. They are as corrupt as hell.

I too don’t know who did it but I really don’t believe it was BG. I think he is an oddball and probably not very pleasant around women but I don’t think he has the capacity to be able to essentially do a professional hit in broad daylight on a residential street without being seen and leaving no evidence. He was assessed to have an IQ of 75 placing him in the lowest 5% of the population. Hardly a criminal mastermind capable of pulling off and getting away with a professional hit!

I wonder how Jennie Bond etc felt about Jill and whether there was some jealousy that she got with the producer and it obviously opened lots of doors for her?!

I knew lots of men like him back in the 80’s/90’s it’s just the way it was. I don’t think for one minute he had her murdered.

I never thought it was BG, he was the local weirdo, he was inappropriate and pestered women but that is completely different to killing someone.
My understanding is that a modified weapon was used - a modified starting pistol or something similar - so not something a hitman would use surely?
I wonder if was a case of mistaken identity, or a random killing? I heard a theory that Jill was mistaken for another TV presenter but that makes no sense either.

Was it definitely a silencer that was used? Or was it that the gun was pressed so tightly to her head that it effectively became a silencer? I know nothing about guns but can a replica be fitted with a silencer?
I don't think her head would muffle the firing of a gun lol it's a hard skull not a pillow

Probably mistaken for Diana's ghost. Have they questioned the local exorcist?

I wasn’t overly keen on this documentary, I’m not sure if it was the style or what. I know it was 20 odd years ago but the only two people who seemed upset were her hairdresser and Jennie Bond. I’m not saying her brother wasn’t upset but it all seemed very matter of fact, it’s obviously been a horrendous time for them. The agent was a bit odd but you could tell he was affected by it all. The ex partner was a right prick. I preferred the BBC documentary as someone else said. Interesting that Nick Ross and Alan Farthing didn’t want to be involved, although understandable for Alan as he has a family now. I’ve never thought it was Barry George, I don’t think he would be capable. Poor Jill, she seemed lovely and it’s such a tragedy. Maybe I missed a bit but surely the case should be open until they find the person who did it. I read BG didn’t get any compensation, I was shocked by that.

I also find her brother very matter of fact especially the clip they showed of him speaking to the press the day she died but he’s a journalist himself isn’t he ? I was shocked it was reported on the news before her Dad or brother were informed ☹

Interesting about why BG didn’t get compensation as it makes it sound like he did do it it’s just they failed to provide enough evidence.
