Same. Loved them together. I don’t see the same connection between Nick and Vanessa on love is blind. She always says how she basically forced him to marry her 😂 it was rumoured because he didn’t want to give up his alimony from Jessica. I think as Jessica got really famous in the last few seasons though he was jealous of her and it wasn’t going to end well
Remember when he introduced himself on love is blind "and of course I am nick lachey" 🤣 as if he is some kind of global superstar

I used to LOVE newlyweds too! I never really liked him either. Always telling her off. He went mad when she bought expensive sheets too for the bed. She was always so generous to him.
I said it earlier in the thread but it bears repeating: Nick was borderline emotionally abusive. Jealous, controlling, disapproving, he constantly made fun of her, and although Jessica had a good sense of humour about herself, he often took it too far. Laughing at her rather than with her. He often enjoyed tormenting her too in small ways, like delighting in telling her about the baby rattlesnake he found when she was visibly upset by it, or joking he was going to go and spend time with his sexy dancers instead of her when she was clearly feeling a bit insecure. Absolutely vile man.

Do not forget that Nick refused to marry Jessica until she made an effort to “become a woman”, which meant learning to cook, clean and keep house. Such misogyny.

I will never forget him on that Newlyweds episode, being suspicious of the cleaner he hired, based on absolutely nothing. Also moaning the cleaner didn’t do what he wanted when he didn’t tell her properly, oh and then thinking he had paid her way too much! Horrible attitude.

What stomach surgery has she had?

I read the book, just the parts about Nick and I loved it when she was talking about the divorce settlement. He wanted a hell of a lot from her. Can't remember the figure but say 1 million. Then she said "oh just give him what he wants. I'll make more. And I did. A billion more."

You GO GIRL. He was never happy with her success. In the book it's a bit creepy really of Nick. He was a little older than her and with her fir her so many "firsts". He gave her her first taste of alcohol etc etc. He treated her like a little girl but expected a wife to cook and to clean and to stay at home. I didn't like it when he used to make her jealous on purpose by flirting with girls, getting pissed with lads in strip club etc etc. Poir Jessica just wanted him to be nice to her and give her attention. She always seemed to be eager to please him in the programme. She used to hire fancy cars for him, buy him a full fridge of his fave beer, tried to learn to cook for him, and dressed up so sexy for him!

I did not like Nick in the reality show he came across badly to me.

Nick never wanted to spend a single penny on anything, he was tight as a badgers arse!!

He used to lose his temper super quick, his whole demeanour would change!

Aside from that, he reminded me of the shit boyband American version of Peter Andre, so cringe and took himself way to seriously, thought he was the dogs bollocks but only sang absolute shite and couldn’t face it his music was only ever shit in the first place anyway and it was over for him.

Oh god, remember when he was first rumoured to be dating Vanessa and the paps caught him fucking her outside in a hot tub, the flashbacks!!! lol

Jessica’s dad was so gay even back then it was obvious.

Nick said a few years ago the best thing about not having Jessica’s dad as a father in law anymore was that he no longer had to play grab-ass under the dinner table at the easter family gatherings 😦

Thanks for the thread!

Jessica was one of the celeb body goals back in the day during my formative years. If only I'd been old and wise enough to know that the way these popstars look was not natural or sustainable for the vast majority of people. So much time wasted day dreaming about looking like them!

I remember the MTV series. Jessica used to say ‘oh my Gah’ because she was a good Christian girl who couldn’t say God, lol.

And also the buffalo wings. Couldn’t get her head round that they came from chickens not buffaloes!

I don't really know that much about Jessica but I was aware she had addiction issues. Just went to have a nosey at her instagram and she looks unwell, very gaunt in the face, so much so that her teeth look too big for her mouth. Anyway, I found this photo that she shared at the height of her alcoholism and couldn't believe it, she looks totally unrecognisable.

Is her autobiography worth reading? The audio book is £26.75 😲

I've got quite a soft spot for her. She's endearing and full of charm.

I've no idea what her shady dad is up to (still chasing twinks in westho?😬) - was obvious back from the reality TV shows he wasn't one to be trusted.

I never liked nick lachey after he was complaining on and on about giving the cleaner $20 for spending several hours sorting out the crap in their mansion.

I loved Newlyweds. Re-watched it on YouTube over Christmas. I read Jessica’s book on Kindle a few months ago.

I always thought Nick was borderline emotionally abusive to her. He really tried to control her with guilt, jealousy, making fun of her, disapproving of her. He was extremely hypocritical at times. Massive chip on his shoulder. I thought while reading her book that my assessment of him was correct! She was very clever about how she spoke about him, though. It was all very subtle, not pinpointing the issues but skirting around them.

Jessica talks in the book about playing up to the “dumb blonde” thing. I don’t think she’s as stupid as she portrayed herself - it helped make her more famous, more popular and fill her bank account. It was a smart move to create those “dumb” moments. We all remember them, years later!

She has made incredible amounts of money from her clothing line, so she and her team obviously have some strong business acumen.

She’s also incredibly brave to have spoken so honestly about the abuse she suffered as a child, and about her issues with food, alcohol and drugs in her later years. It’s really an incredibly honest book, which I think is rare for someone mostly known for reality TV. It made me like her much more. I have a lot of respect for her now.

Agreed. I remember OBSESSING about how she dieted to get into the Daisy Dukes. I think she was actually relatively honest about the fact she starved herself and exercised for about 8 hours a day.

I read the book within a few days. One of the most honest celeb autobiographies I’ve read. I was never a massive fan but really enjoyed Newlyweds and a couple of her albums. The newlyweds/MTV era and her marriage to Nick is really interesting and there are quite a few references to other pop stars of the time. She comes across incredibly sweet and talks a lot about her issues with alcohol, prescription meds and depression. Well worth a read, I think mine was about £14 for the hardback on Amazon.

I've seen a lot of Newlyweds content on my TikTok lately and I never realised just how toxic/mean Nick was?! I also think it is easy to forget just how young Jessica was!!
The marriage was set for failure from the beginning really

im part way through it, got it brand new on ebay for £10 and am enjoying it, shes a bit too honest and thats what I like about her, nothing is sugar coated so far, looking forward to getting to the meeting Nick part as used to love watching newlyweds, he was a moaning sod though, I remember when she called him to say the bra and pants she bought were more expensive than she thought and he kicked off telling her to return them......despite her being worth a fortune and most of their wealth at that point will probably have come from her......I love a trashy read ;)

She was known for her body so I imagine her weight gain and then the botched cosmetic surgery afterwards contributed to her alcoholism. I always thought she was uniquely beautiful however nowadays she has the dead behind the eyes look similar to Britney. I suspect she's heavily medicated

Really?! I thought he came across as so condescending towards her and also low key very jealous of her career/money?!
He was definitely jealous. He was the ‘big’ boyband star when they first got together and she was a low rent Britney. Then newlyweds shot her fame level up and then her daisy duke era, he couldn’t handle it.

I’m an OG Jess fan, still love watching Newlyweds, enjoyed her book. I really don’t like Eric, on Lipstick Alley they call him Dirty John and say he is not to be trusted :( She made a rod for her own back making her whole book and press tour about overcoming her addictions when she seems worse than ever now.

There used to be some tea about Newlyweds back in the day, that the house was a fake MTV house right in the middle of the porn valley, that they had CCTV all over the house and had hours of Jess and Nick having sex, and possibly blackmail attempts over the footage?

I can’t remember now…was it Bam Margera she was fucking during Dukes of Hazzard? Actually I think it was the whole Jackass crew 😒 SMH Nick was a good guy, she will never find another as good as him imo.

Her dad was creepy af back in the day, Old Papa Joe always talking bout Jess’s double D’s, don’t know how she could bear it.
