It’s a legal requirement - have a look at ASA guidelines for influencer marketing. Presumably she thinks she will be less popular or come across less genuine if people realise the extent of products she loves (but is paid handsomely to feature).

It’s mainly to protect consumers though - think young people buying make up because according to a YouTuber the product is amaaaazing, and will solve all their problems and insecurities (which they probably have in the first place because of Instagram influencers!) - when really they’re only posting because they’ve been paid to do so and are reading off a script.

It’s so easy to declare stuff as an ad - two letters! Ask yourself why influencers tie themselves in knots to avoid it

I feel like 90% of her popularity is her pretending to be humble and 'real', but if people knew how well she was paid and the insane amount she is gifted, it doesn't really relate to her image

I like Jamie and I actually like their house- I like that they’ve not done the typical instagrammer thing of moving in and doing the whole place up in 2 weeks with all gifted products then re-doing it again every year after that think it’s a bit more relatable that they’re taking their time to do a room at a time and that the house doesn’t look perfect all the time. I do agree that I wish she’d stop/lessen the filler etc cos I think she looks at her best more natural. Also would agree that if she’s not paying for her nails and treatments etc then she should of course label them correctly. Another positive about her I think is that she’s honest and a bit more realistic about her body imagine as she’s open about needing to work out and eat healthy if she wants to feel her best but she’s not a tiny size 8 and seems to enjoy food and nights out. I think they’re both quite realistic about the fact that the influencer/YouTube trend might pass so I think that’s why they don’t spend crazy amounts of money on the house etc and instead I get the impression they try to save and future proof a bit which is sensible.

I have liked and defended her previously but the justification for that holiday is laughable. No Jamie, you don’t ‘need’ a holiday, you just feel you are entitled to one. I have an issue with this. It would mean she travelled across health boards for the stay - this isn't allowed in the central belt right now. I can't see my family due to covid restrictions (both in health boards with travel bans) but influencers can prance around like the pandemic doesn't affect them. If she's looking to be relatable she is way off! I'm sick and tired of these influencers being so fake!

I’ve been thinking for a while that her hubby also looks like he is doing something he shouldn’t be.

I sometimes post on the inthefrow thread and I’ve admitted myself on there that I’m a recovering drug addict - I have been clean for almost 2 years now and I see a lot of my old behaviours in certain influencers. Some of the same characteristics etc.

It personally would not surprise me if more influencers came out and admitted that they have alcohol and drug problems, because it’s a job with shit tons of pressure, constant monitoring and having to “beat” people to the post with certain “trends” (not that Jamie has done this in a hot minute)...

also with the comments above about her eating half a grapefruit and coffee for breakfast - this really fucking concerned me because some of her audience may be struggling with ED’s and I just thought this was a bit tone deaf to put on a vlog. I’m not sure if she’s considered that or not but it just came across to me as if there’s something more going on than what she’s alluding to by “just” eating healthier. I had to unfollow cause I just didn’t believe anything she said anymore. Absolute gobshite, will say anything for the right money. Also, how many times can you watch a video of her blending out brown eyeshadow? Couldn’t stand that she wouldn’t entertain more affordable makeup either. Fair enough some mid range stuff is better but we’re not in the 90/00 anymore. The quality is so much better now not to mention - most cosmetic companies are owned by a parent company. So chances are 3 different tiered brands all have the same formula. You’re paying for the packaging/brand identity. Guess it’s easy so only like high end stuff when it’s continually free. My 22 year old sister buys all her makeup mid-high end, it’s mad. I turned 30 this year and use a mix, I like what I like price/brand doesn’t determine anything. My makeup always looks better cause I actually know how to use/apply stuff well/correctly. You can buy the most expensive makeup in the world but it doesn’t mean it’s actually good Also, how could you end tell when it’s on your face She’s a greedy, grabby cunt.

I used to really like her but have gone off her over the last year. What really irritates me is how much she hates anything drugstore and that all you have to do is save up and buy one thing at a time or in her case get everything for nothing. I dont know if this has already been mentioned, but the thing i cant get my head around is the price. She is only an 'influencer', i know she is a make up artist but in terms of her products i do not know how she justifies the price tag! Its not exactly like we know she is a luxury brand (in comparison to someone like charlotte tilbury). I love make up and even though i buy some things from drugstore, i do like to treat myself to the more 'luxury' brands. But there is no way on earth that i would even think of buying anything from Jamie, she hasnt proved herself enough for me to spend so much on things that frankly look boring and meh.

That’s what I mean- she does some zoom meetings and takes pics of her makeup and makes videos from her home with her husband there- getting loads of free stuff sent to her pretty much everyday and she still goes on about needing a break and a holiday and self care so she can relax like you say I fully appreciate that there will be challenges and it’s an uncertain type of income especially just now but absolutely nothing comparable to you both having to get up and go out to work full time.

I wrote a comment on one of her Instagram posts that she deleted, pointing out that she literally would have been without zero income a few years ago had this occurred then due to lockdowns, but now she’s in this privileged position and all she’s done is moan that she can’t go on brand trips (WHICH she does NOT pay a penny towards) and talk about her high end Range Rover. She’s honestly such a bellend.

I never say I want to see people fail, because I’m not that kinda person but oh my god, can you imagine if she had to go back and get a job on a makeup counter? She wouldn’t have a cluuuuue.

Credit where it's due, she's gone from working at a department store make up counter to successful youtuber and influencer.

That being said it's all very samey with her now. I used to look forward to the weekly vlogs then they became offputting and when they revealed Jack was now editing it explained why. He's most definitely along for the ride and it is very obvious. However a quick check on Companies House shows that it's just Jamies name on her Ltd company which was sensible of her.

Also, that horrific tartan carpet makes me itchy it was in the house when they bought it so can only imagine how long it's been down. I get the want the rustic barn look but rip that up and replace it.
