The time spent on live tv is the tip of the iceberg, wow really? I had no idea

And... no one’s forcing her to do tv appearances. If she needs to invest 4-5 times as many hours as someone else then for the sake of her mental health, she probably needs to give it a miss and invest that time elsewhere.

She made a shit show of the recipe she did on this morning. My god she looked like a amateur, over filled the dish so when she put on the dried looking mash it went everywhere.

For someone who's always hankering on about inequality and privilege she's a bit tone deaf with her comment about only getting 8 pounds an hour. She gets paid into her business account and only takes a living wage of 8 pounds per hour out of it weekly. Not quite the same thing

Just watched the Fish pie clip from last week...I mean fair play for doing it on telly but I'm still not a fan.

And as if that all isn’t after money has been put aside for tax etc.

Not to mention £8/hr doesn’t need to stretch as far when you are being sent free stuff all the time.

Yes “earning” £8/ph out of CHOICE is not the same as having no other option, in fact it’s a very privileged thing to be able to do. Sure it’s probably a smart decision to prevent indulgent spending and remind yourself of the value of money, but you have more money to fall back on too, removing the crippling worry of not being able to pay rent, buy food etc that is the marker of poverty. It is insanely offensive and out of touch that she would suggest otherwise, especially considering where she came from.

And when a lot of things, perhaps quite legitimately, can be claimed as business expenses. Then that £8/hour becomes a lot more like play money.

Not to mention the severe arthritis and autism and ADHD and the veganism, which has now been abandoned.

Jack is quite the... unreliable narrator, as it were. Everything she says and does and identifies with paints her as a victim. And so much of it doesn’t add up.

When she first got famous, living in grinding poverty with a toddler, she was living in Southend with her parents nearby. Parents that she was never estranged from IIRC? Unless she went into hiding (and Southend isn’t a big place!) I fail to see how her family couldn’t have intervened and seen her right - not to mention her child.

Then she moved with with Allegra McEvedy and it looked like her happily ever after, except they broke up (over Jack’s trans phase I believe) and then she seemed to be in poverty again, talking about using her oven to keep herself warm and writing “budget” recipes again. It didn’t ring true. She’d had a reasonable amount of success and it seemed (to me at least) that this image was something she decided to start projecting again because that’s what she was known for.

The Kickstarter book debacle was awful. She refused to update the page in the end, promising that she would (or getting her “assistant” to do it) but never did. People were demanding their money back in droves and she just ignored it all.

She raised nearly £70k to write a book in December 2015 and planned to deliver it by May 2016. Except she didn’t. People were really patient, until they weren’t. People felt conned. They were following her on social media and she had loads of time to post on Twitter and Instagram but didn’t bother to update her backers on Kickstarter to explain why the book was so late and when she planned to get it finished. Lots of people were contacting Kickstarter for refunds. The book was eventually published in August 2018.

I get the impression she has an online "persona" where she likes to make out that she is a lot more sassy than she is.

When she first came into the public eye I liked what she stood for and thought cooking on a bootstrap was a great concept. But as I got to know her via twitter she became harder and harder to like - fame and success definitely made it worse. The alcoholism that clearly wasn’t, the trans coming out which I tried to be supportive of but definitely felt like an excuse for victim hood and picking fights on Twitter at times - someone said she’s dropped that now, really ? I had to stop following her but the adhd as her latest thing doesn’t surprise me. I know people in my own life like this, there’s always ‘something’ going on with them. It sounds serious and concerning when you first know them but over time you relaise there is a new thing every month and it’s about attention.

Suing Katie Hopkins successfully was a triumph, she’ll always have that.

It doesn’t surprise me that she’s timid in real life because she’s clearly so insecure, always grasping for some kind of identity and to illicit sympathy.
She did this ghastly video with Georgia toffolo around the 2017 election, for a YouTube series where they brought people with opposing political views together for a meal. I sway much closer to jacks position and am fundamentally very opposed to some of toffs views ... but damn do I know who came out the more likeable, and more open minded to boot.
