Pretty much all the stuff she's "known" for, like winning awards and being an actual campaigner and charity ambassador, is now at least five years in the past (Big Linda's pinkwashing prizes don't count). It's like putting your grade 5 piano or swimming certificate that you got at middle school on your CV in your mid-20s. At some point surely people will notice she has done nothing of note for years.
Yes, there you go, Swimming Bronze Certificate Rimm...Monroe!😁

If anyone would like to restart the Slopalong threads to cook these recipes. Tag me and I'll provide you with a recipe.
So that's actually 93 recipes if you don't include the "bag of tricks", or 126 if you do. Not sure that "fire starter blocks" should count under even the most generous definition of "recipe", though!

As an aside, do you remember how much you paid for the Kindle edition?

It's currently on sale for £1.99, and I wonder if that's a recent pricing change... if so, it might tie in with the reports on the last thread about the hardback edition being removed from shelves and vanishing from wholesale - could it have been remaindered already?

What even is there to invent? Tin of something, rinsed, bowl of something sloppy, boil for 15 hours.

Insert tin / slop here. Endless possibilities!

Oh wow I had forgotten that dream interpretation books were a thing. Do people not want to interpret their dreams anymore or do we just Google it now?
Elon Musk keeps appearing in my dreams, if anyone can shed light on that? 🤷

Bloody hell. "Makes a decent-sized jar"???! What the bleeping duck is that meant to mean?

She's given exact weights of the powders that she mixes together, so WHY didn't she tip them into a measuring jug and give an approximate volume for the combination?! Or at least give a couple of clear examples of suitably-sized jars?

If she'd said something like "this makes around 750ml, so should fit into two 400ml jars of the sort used to contain 454g (1lb) of jam, or one 800ml jar of the sort used to contain 200g of instant coffee", it would have been so much more useful.

Her extreme laziness shines through everything she does. It makes so angry that this half-arsed rit ever got published.

Exactly it could have been useful and in the tips section she does mention about saving jars and lids to reuse

Back to the Oxfam mithering. Yes I know it's been hashed out but I was at WORK, at least 100 hours done this week.
For any newbies, many years ago Jack was asked to go to Tanzania to do an article for Oxfam.(no, we don't know why either)
Jack spent about 5 days there being just about as rude and basic as she can be.
Firstly she posed in a photo holding a young child with the kid's mother and family next to her. It was awkward and staged and a little bit creepy. Then Jack wrote the most ghastly and offensive article about the trip. I forget the finer details but she compared her life of immense privilege to that family in the photo with her. She basically said her life was the same as a woman who had to work in squalid conditions for a pittance and had to walk miles to get water.
Then she posted the pictures on her socials, but this time the family, including the mother, were photoshopped or cut out so it was just poor mamma Jack holding a very confused African child.
It was beyond bad taste and beyond insulting. But hey! At least she can get a booking at Edinburgh a decade later off of it all.

Now this isn't accounting for The Great Delete, so some things may have been lost to the ether, but searching "Oxfam" in Jack's tweets gives four responses

three of them relate to buying a pan from an Oxfam shop in January 2022

1688151608343.png

and mithering at a squig who tweeted her a picture of her Tory conference press pass in 2013

As an addendum

I am once again perplexed by the number of wicker baskets in this kitchen (black square is covering a school certificate on the fridge)
1688151841347.png

I am also once again perplexed why the home made mixed herbs are in a milk bottle - surely it'd be a pain in the a to get a measuring spoon in and out? and why is there a toy cat on the oats? but whatever

This means Jack Monroe listed themselves as an Oxfam Ambassador.

Same as she lists herself as an activist.
Same as she lists herself as a cook...

bleeping.. Ell. Oh. SLOPSUCKING. Ell
duck me. Do these middle class luvvie "dahling I work in the arts" types not know the meaning of 2 simple words - due diligence?!?

I'm going to pitch myself as a speaker for next year I think:

"Hunsgraveyard is literally the most powerful mixed Middle Eastern/Irish frau to have ever walked the earth. Credited with inventing electricity, nuclear fusion, eradicating famine, raising trillions of pounds for charity every single hour, Hunsgraveyard also mastered the art of flight by age 4, speaks 73 languages and is a black belt at judo, as well as being an acclaimed cook, author, activist and also being able to cure 99.7% of common Western diseases with just the power of touch"

They should book me right? 🤣🤣🤣
