Anyone seen Jay Rayner’s thread attacking Henry Dimbleby? Be interesting to see if Jack picks a side. Whichever one is more generously buttered, I suspect.

I did notice a certain Leon co-founder was in the news today... Blimey, it's nepo baby blue-on-blue out there!

Edited to add this absolute belter;

Frauen and Herren… 😱 I'm watching from a recording. He put onions in a cold pan and then the oil! She's got to him.

He’s explained his working out for the costing 🔥she will not like that 😤
The ingredients he uses and meals he makes look reasonably tasty and sensible, but oh god, those itty-bitty portion sizes are as bad as Jacks! The man has a half-dozen children, he should know that one teenage boy would inhale that "2-person frying pan-pizza" for a pre-lunch snacklet and then wonder where the chips and chicken wings were.

I think it would be good to get a nutritional breakdown of protein/carbs/fat and calorie count per portion too, a lot of cooking Youtubers I watch give that as standard, but it is noticeably absent here (and from Jacks' recipes too, I'm still shellshocked by that "chickpea soup" recipe of hers that was half a can of chickpeas, pepper and a whole stockcube, and she suggested that was a filling and balanced lunch)

OK so here we go. A squig asked what Jack thought of airfryers. Her reply: she received two as gifts and gave one to her parents and one to a food bank. Her reason? She is "funny" about "specialist equipment from an 'accessible to the majority/recipe testing' point of view." Which tells us that she really is out of touch--never was in touch?--with anything.

Airfryers are not specialty equipment. They are pretty damn ubiquitous, inexpensive to buy and run. For a person worried about heating/electric costs, they are far cheaper to run than a stove/oven. They can be used in any housing with a socket. You can find them used quite easily (and cheaply). The only people in my circle who consider these specialty appliances are wealthier folks who own a stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven, sandwich press, Fry Baby, etc. So, middle class folks who have no need to delve into the airfryer's versatility as a cooker.

ETA: She was the one who treats a blender as a necessary, disposable appliance.

All this plus the fact she never cooks so has no use for one 😂
