I've been MIA from these threads for a while as I've been BUSY doing my real life job and watching terrible festive films. Very impressed to notice that the Jack wiki is now up to three parts! Good work ninnies.

Jack slagging off her landlady has infuriated me enough that I've come running straight back here to moan about it. No matter how you feel about the concept of private landlords it is not OK for someone with over half a million followers to single someone out like that. It's bullying. But I am quietly lolling at Jack "daughter of a landlord" Monroe trying to take the moral highground on this whole subject.

Nice of Jack to admit that ‘the price of fucking pasta’ is largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, and thus so is her ridiculous career of moaning about it & making up nonsense about it going up 344% when it hasn’t. (And forgetting that expecting massively cheap food actually impacts some of the poorest in society who work in food production/supermarkets etc. Someone always pays).
I’m just staggered at her complete lack of self awareness. Someone from a family of landlords who is funded by the kindness gullibility of strangers moans about their landlord asking for rent. Maybe the landlady is disabled/arthritic/addicted (insert any conceivable misfortune) like Jack. Maybe she has an elderly relative who needs expensive care or has no pension and so is being hit by the rising cost of living like the rest of us? Maybe it’s sweet fuck all business of Jack, who is the last person on earth who can criticise anyone given that she has taken money for years from others by playing the victim?
Seriously, can she not see the utterly cringeworthy hypocrisy? Always one rule for Jack, yet again.

Her tweet about not having a traditional Christmas, but a big, complicated meal that actually is just as a big a deal as Christmas dinner is fucking moronic.

As it has been said upthread, many people don’t have traditional “turkey meals” at this time anymore. For various reasons. Cultural, professional, social, psychological, financial or just because they don’t fucking want to. Who cares? Jack should realise (as the pov’s princess) that many people will be making adjustments this year and instead of saying “I am having an alternative Christmas that is actually fucking complicated and hard work”, she should do some signposting. For example where people could go if they are alone on the day and need food (for free or paid for at the last minute), warm spaces that are open, what families could do if they are in crisis (from DV for example), charities/companies that are offering free food for children over the holidays. It isn’t rocket science.

However, as always, it’s all about Jack Monroe and she is oblivious to any other situation other than her own.

Well I went to bed and came back this morning and the chaos continues. But I just can’t get my head around this online shop thing (I know, I know, it’s because she’s LYING).

1) placed online food order in October(?) because would be hosting Christmas at new tiny 1bed flat
2) realised wouldn’t be able to host Christmas at new tiny 1bed flat because it had “fallen through”.
3) rather than cancelling online food order and therefore not spend the money, decides to let order come anyway and give food away to friends
4) realises order is going to new tiny 1bed flat address
5) doesn’t call customer services to try to cancel or change order

I just CAN’T!
