One of the reasons the kitten triggers me so much (this isn't a trigger warning post as I'm not mentioning hers) is that I grew up with a disabled cat. She ran out between my dad's legs when he answered the door, when she was 12 weeks old, got hit by a car. She was driven straight to the vet in South Mimms (miles from where we lived but known to be one of the best for pet limbs if that doesn't sound too crude!!) My cat had a front leg amputated but before they did the operation the questions were 'will she suffer or be in any pain if you remove the leg' and 'will she be able to live a normal life'. The answers were she will not suffer, and as long as she doesn't climb trees as she won't be able to get down, she will live a normal life (she lived to 19). If either of the answers had been no, we would have euthanized her as there is no way we would have ever let her live in pain (for those who saw my earliest posts in the JM threads, this is the cat who thought i was her kitten, and i thought she was my mother)
