I'm sure she's said before that she's been commissioned for her next three books (so this one, her 'memoir', and the poverty stories? Or are the latter 2 one and the same?). So if she doesn't deliver this one, she's not going to be able to go on to do the next two. I would definitely dump her at this stage because that way you can slither out of the future ones. I wonder if this is what happened when she was dropped by her last publisher for coming out as trans (lol) and decided to crowdfund instead.If it's anything like the music industry, as a fairly standard example (and depending on how much clout you have/in demand you are), you would sign a three-album deal. Part of the advance on signing and then draw down the rest on delivery of each new album - or book in Jack's case. I'm sure they've essentially just written her off now though and don't care whether she delivers or not. Can't see them putting much behind the marketing budget either as it's like throwing money down a drain at this point.
I'm sure they're just biding their time until this contract is up. I can't see them resigning her or there being a bidding war between publishers? Would also LOVE to see her sales numbers in full.
