Oh my Christ, Vienetta hats! I'm off to Farm Foods later to buy one (they sell them for a quid which is excellent because I am POOR).

I jumped on board when Jack was yomping around buying chips and spreading Covid. She fucked me right off then and still does. Anyway, happy 300 Frau! See you at 500, will bring some proh-duce I found in a puddle.

There‘s a gavotte scene in Good Omens, but Jack wouldn’t know about that, since it was only co-written by her fave Sir Terry Pratchett.

Also, tired of the Autism is a superpower narrative. It’s fucking debilitating at times and this sort of shit is super harmful and further promotes the stereotype that we can be “normal” if we just want to be.

Happy 300 everyone! I don’t want to be as soppy as her stroganoff, but thanks for all the laughs! It’s made a very horrible few months much easier knowing that there’s still lovely, intelligent, empathetic people knocking about from all walks of life 🤍
I just wanted to share the burning question my sister posed to me earlier after I had a rant about Jack and her recent Jeremy Corbyn automated reply chaos;
“How is it physically possible for one person to fuck up every single point they try to make? Every single situation they’re in? It’s more painful than watching Faulty Towers. She’s like a cartoon.”
TOOT TOOT 🍾

EDIT I think we need a poll for favourite Viennetta flavours, mine is tiramisu! But only been able to find it in *shudder* Italy (Jack flashback) caramel biscuit is also grand.

Oh nooo Jack, you're doing it again! Acting like cooking for your OH and family is a painstakingly awful task that falls on your shoulders and your shoulders alone despite the fact that you absolutely offered to do it. No doubt you'll just eat a Ryvita while they dine because you don't have the energy left to lift a fork. Did you learn nothing from your last relationship?

Also, the halcyon early days of dating? 😂 they've only been going out 5 minutes! (I still don't believe OH exists, they were invented the second she found out LJC was seeing someone 😬)

Apologies for the me-rail but the Viennettas brought me back to 1984, aged 20 and my first dinner party in my new home.

I invited three school friends. We had garlic mushrooms for starters, JM portions as I miscalculated and only got 6oz of mushrooms from the green grocer. Lasagne from scratch for main with salad and then Viennetta for pud, because as a 20 year old I thought it was the mutt's nuts!

Although I now rarely have it, still love the Viennetta and do wish they still did the biscuit one.

Loved the MN DKL thread. My favourite line (I'm paraphrasing) she seems to specialise in cheap and cheerless food ( I know too early!).

When you Google gorgonzola semi-freddo tattle (Jack thread obvs) is the 4th result. TOOT TOOT
If we all google jack Monroe and click through (have to click through and then not immediately close!) to the wiki it would fly up the results.

Currently on page 4

I wonder if in honour of thread three hundred Vienetta hat day, if at a predetermined time-say 6pm in the UK- we should all open our front doors, step out and shout “PUMBLE” at the tops of our voices (like an honorary Thunderclap for Carers) then softly, gently step back inside?

It would be a true delight to me (albeit extremely surprising given where I am) if other dear fraus were in earshot.

From everything I’ve read about big Dave he comes across as one of those irritating, pompous “pillar of the community” type men.

I'm just popping in to say happy 300 🎉 You are the most wonderful ninnies I have never met! My dissertation is due in on Monday and its 🔺forensic nature🔺means I might not get chance to post before the thread moves on, but I wanted to see Harold with confectionary on his head. I'm so glad I've checked in tonight because now I know what my post-diss celebratory meal will be; salad bag Vienetta. See you on the flip-flop!

I picked up some Birthday cake Viennetta on the way home and it was nice! Who knew Viennetta was 100 years old? That seems madness to me.

EDIT: Maybe it's Wall's that's 100? Wikipedia says Viennetta is from 1982 which seems more likely (in which case happy 40th V, you young whippersnapper)

It just amazes me how many stories she tells of experiences a lot of people won’t ever get to have and no one notices that this doesn’t tie in with the whole ‘I’m poor’ narrative and she can’t see that not everything is about money and she’s had some huge opportunities in life that others can only dream of and still she plays the victim.

Happy thread 300 - I’ve not been here long but I love this space - you all make me laugh so much during a bit of a shitty time and I’m learning so much from you all.

All have fairly strong accents. They aren’t coarse or common, but one way or another they probably have talent.
Fairly sure the Two Hairy Bikers wouldn't consider themselves 'posh'. Yet the Beeb have stuck with them. (Btw sadly one of them, Dave, has cancer).

I did Sunday dinner for 10 (and two small children who just ate the potatoes so not sure that counts) today. I will now do a 20 tweet thread about how exhausted I am, how much I
begrudge doing it and beg with my tip jar.
Well obviously I won't because they were my husband, children and grandchildren and it was a pleasure to have them all under one roof.
I certainly didn't go and wash up every 10 minutes to escape them all.
She just loves doing the martyr stuff for clout doesn't she?

I thought she always donated the meals from recipe testing/shooting to a worthy cause? (Against every hygiene regulation going but she said it so 🤷‍♀️).
