He's a doctor on Twitter who I'm not sure if I should name because I've just checked and he's not a blue tick so he gets squig protection. He's been involved with various fundraising activities for a while to get slow cookers to people in need. This has caused something of a Twitter stramash amongst the totally plausible authentic poors like Roadside Mum because it's "telling poors how to eat and middle class". He and some other people recently decided that they were going to live on the same amount as they'd get on benefits for a week or two and donate the difference between that and their real income to the slow cookers thing. This has made the Twitter poors angry because it's cosplaying as poors.

I'm not a big fan of these live below the line things myself but if that's how folk want to spend their own money *shrugs*. The Dr appear to be well meaning if a wee bit misguided. I have actually been hoping Jack gets drawn into this because it might provoke someone into highlighting her own poverty cosplay.
That's interesting! Is it better or worse than designing a t-shirt that only the financially comfortable can afford, with only a small portion of profit going towards a 'charity'?
I guess it's not to everyone's taste, but at least they're donating their own cash and not just grifting cash off others, to then shake a tip jar immediately after?

I think Jack is going to the BBC to ask Tony Hayes for a second series and she is worried about getting a no. Hence bigging (but begging was also good, 5/10 auto 🥕) up the household book cover in advance to show how very interested everyone is.

Well at least he's doing something practical and to be honest I'm finding the totally 4 real Twitter poors inability to accept that a poor person who didn't want a slow cooker wouldn't either say no or accept one and sell it eBay or something so they'd have money for something they did want fairly patronising.

WHY IS SHE SO OBSESSED WITH THE bleeping TOILET AND WHAT COMES OUT OF HER :sick::sick::sick::sick:

She's a bleeping FOOD WRITER (supposedly). Imagine some poor sweet summer child thinking they'll hit up that Jack Monroe's twitter for some recipe ideas, only to be greeted with literal tit jokes and descriptions of the colour of her wee?

I don't have the stomach for this.

I think it’s the backlash against the “one night out” aka sleeping bag fest.
Sounds like the Doc is putting himself to some hardship to live on UC money and donate the rest, he’s trying to understand. Not ideal but a bit better than just the grifty tit Jack does

Winter nights- warmed through oven trays under the quilt (sure Jan)
Cold hands- boil metal camping mugs and stick your hands in like gloves
Summer nights- buy 6-10 mini fridges and place them in your bedroom with doors open #grifty
Sadly, our Bootstrap Heroine will not reply. Louisa Britain will also dismiss in its entirety that Jacks very existence is what the squig is referring to. Because, like all good minor grifters, (and as proven in spades by the Jack/Nigella debacle) Louisa Britain is hoping that nearly 500k people will get to hear about HER book of pov via an endorsement and that cannot be risked with honesty.
From what I have read of RSM, honesty and her are not friends.

Instead of leggings, dry your hair with a towel or a special gadget called a hairdryer specifically designed for this purpose.
But what will the squigs do with all their leggings?

Well why be practical when you can just do some performative tweets instead? The thought of anyone doing anything practical for other people appears to be completely lost on the Twitter grifters!

He is and he's also challenging government ministers to join him and trying to get people to badger their MPs into doing it. Being old enough to remember Matthew Parris (then a Tory MP) try to live on the Social Security rate for a week and run out of money, I'm sceptical as to what good it would do as that in the end changed nothing beyond giving us all a laugh at an MPs expense. But as you say he's not grifting and if he inadvertently provokes Jack into going off on one and brings about her downfall he shall be a hero. A deity if he brings down Roadside Mum with her.
