Brave squiggles on FB under the roast potatoes recipe.

View attachment 352592

Proper pile on on this squiggl who dared to question the use of lard. People online are horrible. JM briefly appears to talk about oil but does nothing to call off the hounds.

The last squiggle is so right & mirrors exactly what @Gentlemensrelish said last night! Some women start prepping for Christmas the prior Christmas sales & top up throughout the year! It’s in humane to make people eat lard!!

Does anyone know what I cry Di why thing refers to? Sorry if this has already been covered. Just a reference I want to catch up on :)

Why do people do that, eh?

Does it make them feel connected to her or something? Is it too uncomfortable to think that someone you've been puting on a pedestal is full of tit? Does anybody know more about the psychology about this?
I expect they don’t want to admit her flaws because it then makes them feel stupid that they believed all her crap and were taken in. No one wants to admit they’ve fallen for a con.

I'm curious how many of her admirers will actually make that dinner. I suspect very few

I can't claim any great insight into this but it's a bizarre phenomenon. Ages ago in my old work a colleague was prosecuted for a series of really serious and horrible crimes. Even after they plead guilty their fan club could not and would not accept they were guilty. It was infuriating, fascinating and awful to watch. At one point they were even creating conspiracy theories about how he'd been set up to protect the real criminals.

It's to do with Lady Di, a while back someone found a really cringey poem , which surfaced amongst chat about Jack writing poems at some stage. I'll try to find the posts.

As for the lard roasted potatoes..unless you're running a chippy in Aberdeen in 1963, lard does not need to come near your potatoes ever.

It's exactly this, once people have swore their allegiance to the "moral left" they find it incredibly hard to leave it, or be critical of it because they are 100% right. It's actually scary that many people have lost critical thinking ability and self awareness but then if history teaches us anything it's that there are always blind followers who need gods, at any cost.

I made the mistake of having chips cooked in lard at a Victorian living musuem, to recreate the experience... I had two chips and then my husband had to eat the rest of mine because they were rank.

ETA: I love chips so it was a very disappointing experience 😣

I can't remember who shared it originally (sorry!)
Excellent, beat me to it. 1 bit coin for you 👍

This is quite a good article on the topic. I find it endlessly fascinating, but probably do it myself.

With JM, there's the added investment people have made (bought books, told others about her, shared tweets, etc) To start questioning her means that you 'colluded' in her lies or were 'too stupid' to see through her (inverted commas because I dont think that's true, but probably how people feel) . It's easier to go along with the lies.

I made a donation too. I suspect everybody here wants to help where they can, and may have been taken in by Jack like me at some point.

Intereting read! And yeah, I guess we all do it to a certain extent, I certainly would not put it past myself.

I was invested in JM first too! (Her taking on KH in court was a main reason too). It can be very liberating to admit though that a recipe just does not work, no matter how many raving reviews from her followers

She’s obviously over-egged this particular lie. She simply wouldn’t be able to function if her temperature were that high. She may have a temperature - it’s possible I suppose - but not what she has claimed. It’s a common trait with her. (See also: the sparkly black eye).
Also a consultant told me once when my little boy had a temp fit that adult temp over 40 degrees is a medical emergency and that women don’t tend to get a temp spike as it’s the body reaction to infection and as we bare children we don’t do that as wouldn’t be able to carry a child as the body would reject it like a virus 👀 so many lies !

Regardless of whether or not she has it, she ‘worked on’ this project, which she was paid for, presumably by the Express AND Del Monte, ages before she had it. For it to be edited and make a weekend supplement spread it would have been done before the word isolation even popped into her maverick mind.
