Criticism of oxford may come off as showing critical thinking and not being hung up on oxfords reputation.

That's what I thought, that his comments came across as critical thought rather than just controversy for the sake of it

I think it's more just how publicly Haz spoke about it, when his girlfriend is very much separate from his online life, so if I were in her position I think I'd feel a bit uncomfortable!

If you look at his good reads he does! People forget he does this for a job so has many hours in the week to read

TBF he could still read sparknotes and then put the book on his goodreads. He also has that research job now but Idk if it’s a 9-5.

I think he genuinely likes reading though and he’s said himself he doesn’t read long books so they’re quicker to get through.

Oxford reject you for a reason, it’s not always a try again and you’ll get in, they already know what type of candidates they want!

I know someone who reapplied for my course and got in - we're both nearly finished. So if you do something different the second time around, are more prepared for interviews etc there's still a chance for you. But you're right, and I think Jade would be a good example of that. I don't think she'd ever have really enjoyed Oxford - both in terms of the way the courses are taught and assessed, but mostly because I just can't see her there. She fits in well with the modern university-silicon valley-life and I see Jack as the same. Fair enough if he can see himself at Oxford, I just think he'd enjoy somewhere else more.

Fair enough! I just thought it was weird he didn't say he didn't apply so thought he'd probably applied but been wait listed but then decided to take another year out anyway. Obviously just speculation!

like 10 mins into his most recent vid he makes this joke about UK elections being more low budget than US ones in this really animated way, and the WHOLE thing is just totally lifted from this tweet... why doesn't he credit it? he does that ALL the time it's so annoying and cringey. just imagine him reading it and then rehearsing saying it so he can repeat it in his video as though it's natural....

Ok forgive my ignorance, but why is it Oxford that all of these studytubers seem obsessed with? Just find it interesting that far more of them seem to apply and go there over Cambridge.

It could be due to the fact that Oxford is more well known internationally. For example, they've got The Rhodes Scholarship, which is pretty much the most prestigious scholarship in the world. Also, Oxford is older, so people might feel that Cambridge is the knockoff school.
Not saying that Cambridge is actually a knockoff, or that it's lacking international prestige. But there are little things here and there that cause people to rank it below Oxford.

I would guess it is because Oxford are traditionally seen as stronger in literature/humanities whereas Cambridge are known for their STEM/maths in particular. Jade probably opted for Oxford because of the natural sciences course at Cambridge not suiting her, but it explains why Eve Bennett, Ruby and Jack would opt for Oxford if they were looking for the highest prestige factor

Thanks! My big sister went to Cambridge so naturally I'm a bit more knowledgeable about Cambridge, and the Oxford obsession seemed strange. This definitely helps to explain it a bit more!

Idk, I’m inclined to believe him. In a Q&A video last year he said he wasn’t bothering with master’s applications. Also, if he was waitlisted why would he say he isn’t doing a master’s at all - wouldn’t he wait to see the outcome of the waitlist?

Also he needs to stop with the tweets where he “addresses” stuff that have only been spoken about on here lol.

But influencers do that to make them sound more important and popular than they really are

I’d just keep emailing the customer service team, I’m also sure under consumer law if a product doesn’t live up to the description you’re entitled to a refund, I’d just double check this and quote the legislation back to them, it’s an utter farce

He could well have done. Even then I think it's somewhat healthy for him to maybe take a step back from the masters applications and focus on something else for a year rather than spending another year on applications.

The only bit I didn't like was his comments on the screenshot of the comment he posted. They were just asking a question. I know we aren't entitled to any details of his life he doesn't want to share, but when you put parts of your life online and there's gaps people will ask questions about the gaps to make sense. Whether he wants to answer them is down to him but he shouldn't get frustrated by people asking imo

Oh in that screenshot he does mention he wasn’t rejected again. I hate it when influencers put their fans on blast like that.
