I actually felt sorry for his life in the last video lol. He is willingly f***ing up his routine like that? Maybe it's just me but I consider the whole "I followed X's routine" trend too dumb. Mainly because it takes a lot of energy to get back to your own routine and I would not do this willingly only to suffer later.

I’m watching him react to his freshers vlog. I’ve known about him but never really watched his videos. He said that he went to a restaurant and it was also the first date he had with his girlfriend and I literally ???? I definitely thought he was gay.
I know! How has nobody else picked up on this?

  • I suspect the girlfriend, in literature terms he may like, is a beard.
  • The video that called him out as having 'a lot of cushions for a straight male' which he didn't even name was by Ricky Langdale, and it's really funny:
  • I used to work in a bookshop and we had to stop local authors signing stock of their book because it made them unreturnable to the publisher/supplier, so Jack signing a shelf's worth of his books (probably without permission as others are saying) means they're stuck there until sold. Selfish, clever move. He'd probably sign the amazon warehouse stock if he could :sneaky:
What happened to his humour 🤣

Has he said anything bad about the celebrity books yet? I feel like this could very quickly backfire and that's why he was in favour of the dislike ratio being hidden

Has he bubbled or has he been socialising up until the announcement? That would be the difference
He's not shown us that he's been doing either thing-obviously he might have been, but from all his socials it seems he's been fully alone for the past month.

Yeah I'm just talking about Oxford, other universities may have flagging systems which do pick out students who have been rejected in the past but Oxford doesn't have any system like that. And of course I agree that re-applying with the exact same application is not advisable in any circumstances! But at least in the Oxford admissions system, a re-application in itself is not a bad thing and there's no formal (or informal) policy to treat re-applicants differently. Especially as re-applying is a lot more common at the postgrad level so isn't unusual; by and large your chances are higher applying postgrad compared to undergrad.
Does Oxford not use Banner then? It’s fairly common in University admissions and would match applicants on names and DOB. Sorry if you don’t know, it just seemed like you might.

I think moving to London was the worst decision he could make. Fair enough if we were in normal times, but living in London is essentially useless right now if you really don't need to be there. I know a lot of people who have moved back into family homes outside of London for lockdown just because it's so much better for mental health for a start (house in an area with green space and a garden vs a tiny studio flat surrounded by concrete).

I get that when he first moved there everything was a little bit different, but I still think it was a pointless move after this unite students deal ran out. He lives in Sussex like me, if he had really needed to go to London for anything a train there takes little more than an hour if that (given he was getting a train back to Sussex every weekend to see his family, that wouldn't have been a problem and arguably he'd have been on a train a lot less.)
I think he moved for the sake of it tbh - probably didn't have a clue what to do when he could no longer do study videos, so had to have some 'purpose'. Probably thought it would increase his chances of landing a job in publishing too.

Harvard and Oxford, two different nations. Plus requirements vary from one university to another in the UK alone depending on each universities internal culture. His videos do not give a good impression of him as a student, I'm not saying that's the only reason but it wont exactly have helped him. Someone clearly after fame and attention isnt necessarily an attractive quality either. Couple that with maybe his application just wasnt good enough it's not exactly a surprise. I also suspect oxford really want a first even though they may say 2.1 can apply. They may consider a 2.1 (assuming that's what he has) if the applicant can bring something else to the table but a 2.1 alone probably wont cut it.
He's not applying to Harvard is he?

I don't know if alumni get 'priority', so maybe he feared being rejected from Durham too and people saying "He couldn't even get into his second place institution".

But you look at what he’s done before Cambridge too and the statement he’s made about his viewers thanking them, Jack isn’t suited to oxbridge, he clearly isn’t critical enough for them, time he accepted it and moved on, he only had Oxford has his option this year, time he didn’t make the same mistake again
Perfectly said!

Congratulations. Your post was screenshotted and posted by Jack himself 😂
I’ll never understand why “influencers” check their own threads? This is a gossip forum so of course there will be people saying he looks bad 🤷🏼‍♀️
Don’t take it so personally Jacky
Hahaha where did he post it????

I don't think this is Jack posting, the person who posted it seems to love maps and play a lot of Cities Skylines which doesn't seem like Jack's thing, plus I've seen his videos on other subs posted by other people.

i’m pretty sure it’s Jack - did you read the title?? it says “i read these books”. if someone else posted they’d normally say youtuber or jack edwards reads!!

That's understandable but in lockdown 2 Jack showed himself travelling from London to home almost every Sunday to see his family. They're his support bubble, so it's not illegal. But there is guidance how far you should travel atm and London to Sussex would definitely be over that. I just hope he doesn't do that this time because it's so much worse out there atm and if he wants to see his parents he could have just stayed at home there was no need to move to London rn
Yes I agree. I don't live that far from my mum and we are a bubble (10 min drive at most). I wouldn't travel that far regularly.

Do you think he has applied to more unis this time? I reckon he has, as he seems pretty desperate to have study tube content again.

So, I’m pretty new to this thread and to jack. Has he recently mentioned what he’s gonna do next year? Does he currently have a job (I’m guessing not because of the pandemic), is he studying?
