I was only thinking today that he's definitely not uploading as often, probably because of a lack of ideas. Can't do studytube content if you aren't studying anymore...
Says he doesn’t have WiFi in the flat, and at one point his 4G ran out, he also claimed he deleted a load of vlog clips aka he can’t be arsed to make content

I’m sorry but does he actually think he has a good fashion sense. What the hell is the outfit in his latest Instagram pictures (the ad with Experian) ????

She wasn't able to afford it before, so she wasn't sure if she would even go because she couldn't receive funding, she didn't earn it just due to youtube but also the amount of sponsorships her management got her (just giving context in case many people here don't keep up with her) But I do agree, Jack will definitely have a significant amount of money.
I’m not saying it in a negative way btw, if she wants to graft and pay for Harvard that’s her prerogative.

So, I’m pretty new to this thread and to jack. Has he recently mentioned what he’s gonna do next year? Does he currently have a job (I’m guessing not because of the pandemic), is he studying?
He did a video a few months ago talking about the research assistant work. He was vague on details.
~
Another clue to it being Ali’s book is that in that video he talks about how he was doing research for a book on productivity. My other theory was that he was involved in research for Grace Beverley’s new book. But the eagle eyed tattler spotting him on that zoom call has me convinced it’s for Ali’s book!

I'd like to see him get into some PG programme, not necessarily Oxford. I've followed these guys for years - like many of you, and for all their faults, I'd like to see them get settled a bit.

Do you think he has applied to more unis this time? I reckon he has, as he seems pretty desperate to have study tube content again.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s applied to courses in London as a back up option, like Kings College for example - he definitely does want be a studytuber again for sure.

Is it just me who doesn't understand why he makes a big deal out of being a first-generation uni student? Maybe I'm missing something because I'm not one. Personally, both my parents went to uni, but that was 30+ years ago in a foreign country with a completely different system. For most people with parents that went to uni, their parents' experiences are outdated and probably not all that helpful?

When it came for me to start thinking about uni, it was my school that explained the application system and me who did all the research. The only way in which my parents were involved was by being supportive of my decision. I'm definitely sure that it might be less likely for parents to be supportive if you're the first one in the family to go to uni. But provided your parents are supportive, I don't see how being a first-gen uni student or not makes much difference?
My parents both went to uni but did distance learning as mature students so technically I was a 1st gen student. You learn everything as you go, as does everyone and tbh if you haven’t been independent before uni then that’s the only reason it would be hard. And anything you don’t know, it’s doesn’t take a genius to search on google - you definitely don’t need to pay for a book to tell you how to do your own laundry, cook for yourself etc 😂

I’m watching him react to his freshers vlog. I’ve known about him but never really watched his videos. He said that he went to a restaurant and it was also the first date he had with his girlfriend and I literally ???? I definitely thought he was gay.

The moment he started storying about Strictly I was thinking: "I bet he's never watched the show in his life before being paid to do so"
I think it’s so wrong and misrepresentative to be paid for promoting tv shows you haven’t watched. He won’t have seen half of those shows, he shouldn’t be getting away with it

I’m gonna clap back here, who cares? If he enjoys it he enjoys it? Snobbery around books grinds my gears, so many people don’t read so even if someone is reading “trash” who cares, he also reads a lot for his job, these videos and because I’m assuming books are sent to him?
I actually didn't mean with regards to the books he reads, but the way he discussed the celebrity poems in his recent video. For someone as arrogant as he is to describe Lana Del Rey's poetry as 'a cross between Walt Whitman and Sylvia Plath' is hilarious to me. People can read what they want if they want to read at all, but don't be saying ridiculous statements like that if you present yourself as an authoritative voice on literature, which he definitely believes he is.

His IG story from the picnic really annoyed me “socially distanced of course!!!!!!” As if he’s not been travelling all over the place over summer as if Covid wasn’t a thing. Idiot.

Does anyone know what career he actually wants? I know he's mentioned a PhD before, but what does he want to do after that?
I mean, he'd be bonkers to get a PhD in English without plans to go into academia. Any other job would prefer either a more specialized degree (eg. law) or relevant work experience.
In the US, academia is crazy saturated, with more PhD graduates than available tenure-track jobs. I'm not sure if the UK has the same problem, but if it does, he should take that into consideration.

I really like him. He comes across a bit arrogant perhaps, but that's just his young white male privilege.

Yeah it wasn't actually him being in Durham that's the problem. The amount of 'influencers' I've seen stay in different homes across England is atrocious. For me it was the fact that in the photos on the stories, they didn't even try and socially distance. I go to uni in England, but I'm not from there, so I'd feel bad confronting him about it when I don't really understand the restrictions you guys have. But if you guys want to, you should call him out.

Yeah I agree. Every generation has its struggles. I wont deny the current crop of students have had a very tough time but they also have way more opportunities than the 'boomers' and they havent had to survive a war like the war generation.

They seem to have been trained to blame generations before them, but that isn't necessarily always fair or accurate. We learn more as time goes by and there will be things they are doing that their children will sham them for. that's just the way it is.

I think this issue with generations coming through is they are taught life should be fair and equality etc. Which is all well and good to a point, but life isnt fair and never will be. There will always be something. there seems to be this entitled assumption that our way of life will remain forever. But wars, pandemics etc do still happen.

I should point out it's not everyone, but as a collective there are patterns of behaviour.

He moved back home for Christmas like he thinks he’s a student? I bet he didn’t go home in the student window or get tested, and he will probably go back to London without any care about testing or if he might have covid. He is obviously one of those people who fled London at the weekend, it’s totally irresponsible
