I feel like the whole studytube thing really wears off once they're at uni because the entire way of doing everything is suddenly slightly different and it can be very personalised to people who are doing that specific course.

Urgh, his IG Q&A was another excuse for #ad for Unite Students. He seems so out of touch, not listening to the comments about how much of a bad reputation that company has. Doesn't he realise that his experience was always going to be amazing because the company made sure that it was? If his experience was bad, he's not going to keep promoting them - he doesn't seem to have put the pieces together.
He definitely got a friend to ask the question too so he could plug it.

I'm sure the really expensive studio he's in is nice, but it's also around £390 per week (note sure which one exactly he's in, theres a few in Camden).
That's waaaaay out of most students budgets!
The cheaper Unite students places seem to be terrible from other peoples reviews. As you say, they'll also be trying hard to impress him.

I would only ever be tempted to look at a promoted item if I know the influencer already uses it (as evidenced by non-sponsored appearances in videos/insta etc.). Random promotion of new items makes me think: "That's out of the blue, where did the interest in this product come from?" The answer is the pay check, which then turns me off of the product. Another example is Eve Bennett promoting Fabletics (or whatever brand of athleisure wear it is), when she's never mentioned an interest in exercise/fitness at all.

It's the sort of book I would imagine a well-meaning Aunt would buy, it might be useful but certainly nothing that a quick look on student forms can't help with.

He is saying it because of the 'adulting today' 'I cant adult today,' etc trends but tbh they are a few years old now and also seem tone deaf and superficial at the moment.

I hate to say it but he just needs a slap to knock sense into him so he can read the room.

You also shouldnt listen to influencers unless they are authentic and have shown numerous times that they use a certain product. I have no issue with influencers being paid to promote, as long as they are honest and authentic about it. Not just because someone's given them some money.

Did you screenshot? I think he’s deleted it
I think he tried to to make it sound like he is checking advice but considering he has been abroad a few times in the past couple of months you'd think he'd think he's not exactly hard done by by the pandemic... We can all be sad that stuff is cancelled. I think the 'no pub for Jack' bit annoyed me, like check your privilege Jack. You were in Berlin the other week.

Regardless of whether it was a joke or not, it's embarrassing that he's still stuck in that "tehe didn't pay attention to my work call I'm SO cool" teenage mentality. You're an adult with a job now, Jack. It's not cute, you just look immature and ungrateful. Hope his boss sees it tho xx
That was my reaction - it just reflects his immature mindset. He still hasn't learned that his videos can be viewed by potential employers as well as his loyal fans.

Am trying to say this in the nicest way possible, but..... does anyone else just find Jack a bit, well, creepy? Dunno what it is, but he really creeps me out. Especially on TikTok when he's trying to look "hot" I guess with the winking and stuff? And on instagram in photos when he's posing. It genuinely creeps me out. Something just quite unsettling?
yes! i get the exact same vibe from jim chapman too

He says he couldn't make videos without spons etc.... except he could make videos without them when he started his channel, and his content hasn't become more expensive to produce so... yes, he definitely could make videos without them.

I could understand if he was a travel YouTuber, or did content which required paid access to research/sources, or required materials like DIY YouTubers, but all he does is what the rest of us could produce with little to no effort or expense.

I sometimes wonder with him if he is trying too hard to be trendy and an 'influencer' and if he just chilled and was himself he might be more engaging and appealing. Especially as his demographic will be older as he ages.

I think it must be Student Vlogs - Dylan, don't know what video it was though. I've only watched one video from him - one where he was baffled as to why he got 58% on an essay because he transcribed the textbook and lecture notes. I don't think he's the sharpest tool in the shed.

And looks like Jack read my comment here lol (does anyone hate it when influencers incessantly read these threads? let me snark in peace plz) but guess he realised it wasn't the best move to leave that clip in. But it shows that name-dropping people in a negative light when you have an audience can only ever have bad consequences - now he has had to scramble to explain further when he could've just not brought it up in the first place. Now it's just awkward all round for everyone.

I just read the whole thread and lowkey he's digging himself a hole, it doesn't sound any better with an explanation, the explanation really wasn't good. I know you're not going to connect with everyone you work with but in a normal work context it's like posting on your LinkedIn about a project you worked on and saying "but I didn't connect with one colleague in particular", singling someone out is just not a very nice thing to do. Plus no one is entitled to a follow back. Idk man, it's a bit of a misguided thing to say and he really should've taken the whole thing out of the video

Hermes, Unite... Jack doesn't seem to care about a company's reputation as long as he's benefiting.

The user that posted it also seems to speak Portuguese so I think we can say it's definitely not Jack lol. His BTS video got posted in the r/bangtan sub as well, I think people just like to post anything related to the sub on there and it's not self promo.

I’d love to know how being first gen shaped his uni experience bc as a first gen who’s also from a middle class background I can honestly say my experience has been the same as my peers. It’s a diversity label posh unis use to try and look more inclusive but doesn’t mean a great deal
