He said awhile ago, he never uploads anything from where he’s currently staying, he only does it once he has left! He said he was only doing month long stints in placesAs someone who has lived just outside Paris for most of their adult life, I’m really alarmed that he posted that ‘view from my apartment’ clip in one of his videos after moving out of the AirBNB. It would probably take even someone who doesn’t know the city at all less than a minute to find the address on Google thanks to some of the stuff featured in that clip. Especially as I imagine the rental listing is still up, as he’s not there permanently. Perhaps he’s already moved on again - although based on what he’s said about moving around, I was under the impression he’ll be in the more recent apartment for a while. I hope I’m wrong, based on how easy it would be for the multiple fans he’s run into around the city to find it.
I also have to say I’m curious how much this cost - private rentals of that size in that area tend to be between 2000-3000€ a month. That’s a bit of a change for someone who had a roommate when they lived in London, isn’t it?
That puts my mind at ease then, thank you! I don’t watch his videos religiously so I must’ve missed that oneHe said awhile ago, he never uploads anything from where he’s currently staying, he only does it once he has left! He said he was only doing month long stints in places
right? like I feel like his sense of humor has been deteriorating ever since he graduated, like the "your jawline get's sharper, so if i don't look like phineas off of phineas and ferb, i'll sue you" is so random and not witty at all and the constant speaking in tiktok sounds too like... I'm not saying he can't do that but it comes off like he's trying so hard to be relatable but he just isn'tWell, I got about one minute into his new video and had to turn if off after he made about five Timothee based jokes.
Maybe I'm just getting a bit grumpy, but his humour makes me cringe so much. He can't get through an entire thought without making some naff joke.
this has been a popular "joke" for a bit in bookish communities online, i feel like i remember a bunch of booktubers i watched in like 2014 make this joke and there was also a semi-viral (for the time, on tumblr) tumblr post that said the same thing, so while it certainly could be a dig at ruby, it could also just once again be him recycling 2013 internet jokes (or both!)"There's a difference between owning books and readings books" the shade at Ruby Granger I love it
That's exactly why I don't believe he reads all the books he talks about. The books always looks brand new and when he talks about them, he only tells you very basic things such as themes etc like he's read reviews somewhere.Looking at the condition of every single book he “reads” he has a talent for never cracking a spine!
This reading log is just GoodReads in paper form - like anyone actually needs that. These products are so cheap and remind me of the spiral planners we used to get at school. He really needs to move away from this Uni obsession and leave school children alone. After all he’s a 20-something grown man interacting with teenagers online.
He strikes me as someone who reads them online and then also has the physical booksThat's exactly why I don't believe he reads all the books he talks about. Yeah, I could be completely wrong of course. It just always seemed odd is all.He strikes me as someone who reads them online and then also has the physical books
I know for dune he had the audiobook and the physical copy so I assume he does that alot
Absolutely. If you read some of the top reviews from Amazon/GoodReads it’s basically the same thing he says in his videos. Complete scammer. That's exactly why I don't believe he reads all the books he talks about. No I'm with you completely, but I am older tbf. But I know quite a few friends jacks ages and they don't talk like that, not since they left uni etc. I think that's the problem, Jack hasn't evolved or grown since leaving uni, he is still stuck in this uni/youtube bubble and doesn't interact with a diverse range of people (like you would in the world of work)I'm starting to think I'm maybe just too much of a old soul trapped in a young(ish) person's body because the way he talks makes it difficult for me to get through one of his videos.
I just watched his Adele video, and the way he says things like 'literally me...' thinking he's all chaotic and quirky, or makes one of his terrible puns really makes me cringe.
Maybe I'm just an old man before my time but I find listening to the way online personalities speak really hard to get through because they can never finish a thought without some rubbish joke or catchphrase.
Once again, the book he claimed to have read was in perfect condition with not a crease in sight.![]()
