He came back to England for Christmas, and because of new COVID restrictions in France, he can't get back now. His visa was cancelled so he is applying for another one.

Source: his 'books I bought but haven't read yet' video.
Yeah that was...not his smartest move. My friend is a French citizen and she was worried enough about coming to visit her family in the UK this Christmas and not being let back in to France, never mind if you had no good reason to be in France in the first place.

he did reach the top of Cambridge medicine and got a first overall
not many middle class people do that
doesn't make him a good person

also Cambridge is full of upper to middle-class people, do you even know what you're on about?

Sixteenth is 100% just a cattle farm for wannabe influencers, emphasising fast cash sponsor opportunities and shady merch setups over brand growth and relevant sponsor pairings.

All their new signings seem to be aspiring content creators with followers in the low thousands. They clearly struggle to attract bigger talent after the studytube bubble burst. Most creators hopefully now better, but Sixteenth targetting small creators more likely to jump to sign and less likely to say no to all the exploitative grifting sounds very on-brand.

They've done essentially nothing for their biggest "talent", and almost all the sponsor partnerships are the same ones every influencer gets, including the ones without manager representation. I'm positive that if Jack & pals had no managers, they would've gotten at least 90% of the same brand deal opportunities, and wouldn't have had to give Sixteenth a huge cut for nothing, either. All they've really done for any of them is encourage their signees to accept every ad deal they can, even if that will hurt their brand, and bilk them for all the money they can before the bottom drops out.

Their career page definitely screams "bullshit"; claiming to be a haven for "egolessness", "good influence", "self-improvement" and "hard work" when most of their biggest talents are narcissistic, corner-cutting toxic liars with no creative talent is hilarious.

Imagine signing up to work there, then finding out that your job description included encouraging privileged, spoilt narcissists to take money from charities. Imagine your boss asking you to get the talent you represent to lie through their teeth when advertising products from other talent on the books. Imagine part of your job was posing as a fan and posting plant comments full of praise and adoration when one of your influencers had found themselves in their 14th controversy of the year and they need help drowning out the negative comments.

If I was a recruiter and got a CV with Sixteenth's name on it, I'd have a lot of questions.
I'm so tempted to apply just to see what the interview process is like. I don't have the relevant experience though, unfortunately (OT: when you've got all the necessary skills and qualifications, but need 3 years experience. like bitch we're in a pandemic, who do you think needs jobs? yeah, graduates. don't ask for 3 years experience for everything i beg)

In Jack the Librarian's latest video: "I judge books by their covers - then actually read them", he's decided that in addition to not being a librarian, he may as well go for broke and not be the Surveyor of the Queen's pictures too. Yes, he's now gone full BRIAN SEWELL on us, without (as usual) any of the requisite expertise.

So, we ae confronted by him rambling on about the cover art of books, desperately trying (and failing) to intellectualise what he's looking at. One novel, featuring two figures in a swimming pool, Jack reveals is remarkable because the people are "semi-naked". Presumably Jack enters a swimming pool wearing his three-piece tweed suit, cravat and fedora, as it is the required uniform for all Surveyors of the Queen's pictures? He then goes onto reveal that the picture of the swimming pool "has chlorine in it". Remarkable how publishing houses are now packing their novels with actual chemicals. Thank God he isn't handling a copy of "Snow Country" right now or he'd have frostbite. Then we're told the colour of the water on the cover (in case you are viewing him in black and white) is "green and blue - it looks like a hospital."

And that friends, is exactly where Jack ought to be confined right now, because clearly the tiny dried pea rattling around in his cavernous skull has finally come apart.

According to that GB News interview, he claims he works in publishing. Since that's not remotely true, I'm guessing he just felt like he had to blatantly lie about shit since he was on a "fake news" channel with his fellow Tory scum.

The cover is usually the most he'll read of a book, so it makes sense that he'd place so much emphasis on it.
I'd wager he was embarrassed to say he works as a research assistant for another youtuber's book.

So the new video is a clever idea - reading the books he spots on the Underground, But I find the fawning over him in the comments funny. Some of them seem to think he is super amazing at literature criticism. One suggested he write a guide to literary criticism. To me he’s about on par with lots of other booktubers/bookstagrammers with and without Literature degrees. Intelligent but not amazing you know?

Then he uses the word "choreography" wrong. As far as me and Google are concerned it's a bit weird to say "choreography of the city" wtf you mean layout or something?
Now what are you on Earth vociferating about? Don't you know of the choreography of the conurbation? Honestly! It fills me with concupiscence when I see the sort of ignorami perambulating around, not having read centum sexaginta (that's 160 for the ignorami) scrolls a year!

also, his voice when he reads quotes kill me, petty I know lol
I played a video for my mum last night and her reaction was 'who does he think he is? And why does he do this 🤌 when he talks?'

Sums it up well, I thought 😂

Hi everyone, so I found this thread today and throughly enjoyed reading through the entire thing. I'm quite surprised that what I'm about to talk about wasn't mentioned at the time he posted it.

Basically I stumbled across his videos at the start of the pandemic, and found him quite endearing, having to leave university during a global pandemic etc etc. But from what started at curiosity soon turned into checking his social media posts frequently just to see how well and truly deluded he is. I particularly loved his free accommodation in London with a company that rips off students with no purpose apart from this being there for the aesthetic. Hence, why I wasn't surprised when he "moved" to Paris, aka moving from Airbnb to Airbnb, pretending to speak French (some of you will probably recall when he wore a horrendous suit and recorded himself ordering a coffee and pasta in French looking smug as if he said the most complex sentence), pretending he had a purpose there.

But one thing that irked me and really set off my dislike for him was when he posted this photo on his Instagram stories. I wish I screenshotted the rest of the story posts he had that day, but its the fact that he's clearly trying to post a thirst trap but then adding emojis like "omg i'm so embarrassed!" i can't remember the next story he posted but before he posted the picture he was like "avert your eyes!" and after he was like "okay back to book content you can look now!"

Like seriously? You've clearly just posted that for attention? If you've been hitting up the gym and been sticking to a routine and have started to notice results, by all means take a picture and be proud of your achievements. You don't need to share it, you can just have it on your camera roll. Secondly, if you do want your followers to see it, go for it, be proud, own it! Posting something like "god i'm so proud of myself for sticking to this regime and I'm happy with the results!" Don't pretend you were forced to post this against your will. You wanted the attention Jack.

So from that moment I just noticed that everything he does is just for attention, but he'll hide behind his intentions by going "WhoopS! Just sat down and realised this is where they filmed Emily in Paris! Silly me! I'm so clumsy!!"

It's the fakeness that just gets me so THANK YOU to everyone in this thread who has made my Sunday by making me laugh multiple times.

I've also seen that Jack sometimes reads this and indirect tweets about it so shoutout to you Jack!!! Post a thirst trap and own it, don't be fake deary!!

(Also he recommended that We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves has one of the best plot twists of all time and that is a complete an ABSOLUTE lie)

i like watching jack, i think his puns are cringy, and yesss he does talk like a 16 year old high schooler at times, but all I see in that is pure sarcasm. i don't think he's fully serious with that, and I just find it kinda funny at times bc of the way he has an English degree, and will talk like a high school girl lol

tbf, when he does get serious with the books i will listen properly, and I've read quite a few books he's recommended now. i think he was surprised with the tiktok books because they might of had been overhyped.
i read a few of the books in that video and they were largely overhyped like anything else is on tiktok

i don't follow him on social media, just on YouTube so cant comment on what he posts there. as usual, i still cant believe he has a girlfriend

You could have been our secret mole on the inside!!

Seriously though, that interview process sounds so lax.
It was so lax. They required three or four references too from what I remember, when everywhere else I applied typically needed two. I remember being super nervous for my first interview and she asked me three questions (which were something like 'Whose videos do you like watching on Youtube?' 'what do you think makes a good Youtube video?' type questions) and being like ...that was it? I thought I'd be asked about my social media experience and things like that but nope.

on his second channel he's just uploaded a clip of him being interviewed on gb news about durham being full of oxbridge rejects. gb news is an explicitly right-wing news outlet which i'm surprised he would want to associate with publicly lol

His online persona is a 14-year-old girl’s version of what a cool 20-something is like.

Similarly to how you thought the characters in Friends all had enviable lives when you first watched it but you soon realise that they are mostly walking and talking red flags once you get to that age yourself.

He must have money to burn if he’s moving every 10 days. Surely somethings happened to make him worry about safety and people working out where he is? As he’s never done this before?

It boils my blood when he refers to himself as "YouTube's Resident Librarian" - he seems to have no notion that to be a librarian one first needs a qualification.
I don’t mind Jack really but this annoys me too 😂 you don’t even have to enjoy reading to be a librarian!

Typical Tory flex is to virtue signal about “important issues” and “underprivileged minorities”, and then go into right-wing media to promote yourself.

He is truly ghastly in every way.
