Sadly I fear that due to general ignorance and stupidity women have already lost this battle. 😪

Look at the abuse Germaine Greer has had to put up with (as well as JK) the bullies have already won.
According to The Times the Tories are going to shelve the self ID reforms because 70% of the public were not in favour of allowing male bodied people into female only spaces. And this was after huge infiltration of the poll by trans activists. As others have said, Twitter is not the world. It comes to something when you have to rely on a Tory government to protect the rights of women!

I don't object to being called a middle aged woman because I accept that I am a middle aged woman. Of course it generally means that you are then seen as 'past your sell by date' and young people like to think that it makes you irrelevant, BUT I laugh to myself knowing that one day they will be middle aged and will face the same discrimination.😁

I do object to being called a Karen which is a nasty term of abuse and see no reason why I should refer to myself as CIS.

Mainly I just see myself as a woman who is appalled at the current lack of tolerance for anyone who doesn't fall in line with the mob.
But again I laugh because I know that this toxic cancel culture will bite these people on the arse in the future 😁

I'm not arguing, or saying it has any impact on statistics or rates, or that cases don't differ from person to person, but if I had shot down my son last year and told him he couldn't live as he felt, I'm almost certain I wouldn't have my son today, even as a daughter. He's told me himself in so many words. I didn't realise just how depressed he was.

So while I can't comment on the legitimacy of any stats, I can completely understand where the assumption originates from.
Many trans use the argument of suicide and I find this incredibly manipulative.
I am sorry of someone who struggles with mental health and yes they should be helped but this doesn't automatically mean women must give up their spaces, allow men in their showers and be erased and treated like we're bigots for protecting our rights and because we're not putting trans first.

And what about the mental health of our girls who are having to put up with this???

An article she chose to retweet with a bitchy comment.
She knows what she’s doing,
She strikes a match, throws it and watches the flames, it’s not the first time she’s done it.

I’m not touching the topic, not my beef, not my chicken not my tofu.
Do what you want and call yourself what you want 🤷‍♀️ None of my business.

I’m talking about her personality and I stand by what i say about her. She’s a bitter woman with a nasty personality
I think we'll just have to agree to disagree. I've seen far nastier, disgusting shit thrown at her by trans people, and at others who even slightly disagree with them, than anything she herself has said about trans people.

I was looking at her tweets about the kids drawing and a trans activist complained that one of the kids used the colours of the transgender pride flag. WTF!

Oh please. If these are the "rights" you think you're being stripped of, I hope to God you never step foot outside your house again because I can assure you women (and that includes trans women!) have far bigger things to be fighting for than bathrooms or whatever else it is. If someone wants to enter a women's public bathroom to perv on someone or do something heinous like rape someone, they are going to do it. Full stop. Stop using innocent trans people as a scapegoat for EVIL people who do EVIL things. Stop trying to mock the trans community by acting like it's made up of people who want to put on a dress and some makeup with the sole purpose of entering a public bathroom. Trans people want to enter a bathroom, pee, wash their hands and leave. How dare you all sit here and create this predatory image of them because of a couple of evil people who may take advantage of something in order to taint an entire community of people who simply want to live as themselves.

And stop with the whole "hatred" towards women thing you've got going on every time someone simply tries to point out the blatant bigotry. The only hatred here is the hatred being spewed at trans lives for absolutely no good reason at all.

Trans men are valid. Trans women are valid. They deserve the same rights and respect as every other person. There is no arguing that. Simple as.
They do deserve rights and respect like any other human. Just not at the expense of women and their rights.

If all trans people want to do is use the bathroom, why does it matter so much to them that they have access to women’s bathrooms to do so? Because it’s not about using the bathroom. It’s about getting everyone else to play make believe along with them. Otherwise they’d be quite happy with access to unisex or otherwise toilets.

Oh my god. What is this? A gossip website filled with some serious, thought-provoking discussion by women who aren't afraid to stand up for themselves? I have found my people! Imagine my surprise as I absent-mindedly clicked on the "celebs" forum after heading over from the "gurus" forum, thinking that people in this thread would be obsessed SJWs on a crusade. Instead, I find this breath of fresh air. :)

I support JK Rowling 1000%. I, too, think this madness is insane. "Oh, you're probably just a boy!" people say to girls who like traditionally "masculine" things, "just transition...." What a step backwards. It makes me so damn uncomfortable. There is no right or wrong way to be a girl, and why does it alway seem like women--never men--suffer in the gender wars?
Welcome! I felt exactly the same way when I opened the thread and I was so relieved to see all the replies! 😊

So, I'm from NYC and one of our local political seats was just won by a trans woman (basically, a dude who has made zero effort to be a woman, complete with wearing skintight dresses to show his junk off. Lovely.). He had actually protested to change a local "one woman, one man" law for elected officials and told those who disagreed with him to "suck [his] girldick." Such female behavior. And one of my other very politically active male friends had the absolute GALL to tell me this rule change was a good thing. I'm steaming mad over shit like this lately.

Ugh, I'm very familiar with that photo. 🤢
It's fascinating how they want to be women and yet they always resort back to very infantile, male, dick related insults whenever anyone questions them. So much for their dicks causing them dysphoria... 🤷🏼‍♀️

Making Toilets/refuges etc into a safe space for 'CIS' & transgender people I feel is quite important.
And is something that i'm sure a solution can be found.
The solution would be trans toilets. Women's spaces would be safeguarded, trans women would not have to share with men and everyone could piss in peace. But trans women on the whole don't want their own toilets. They want OURS.

I too emailed JK Rowling and received a nice reply from her office. She needs people to do this. We need to do this. Our voices need to be carried. This is just one more issue, to be thrown on top of the pile that we already need to shout about. I will not fit the narrative of these people, I will not shut my mouth to be seen as ‘inclusive’ I will not be quiet or watch my words so as not to offend. I do not need to be so. I will not sit by and be labelled ‘cis’, I never agreed to be called that and I never will. I do not have to ‘accept’, ‘include’, ‘be diverse’, ‘support’ anything if I don’t chose to - my/our female ancestors fought for us to have our voices heard and I will make fucking sure mine is. Debate, argue, shout and offend to get our voices heard - it’s our duty. We owe it to our daughters.

Everyone I know seems to take this extreme stance with trans people and that Jk is a monster. Makes me wonder if I am an awful person as I disagree with so much of it. Lol.
This is how I feel, too. Everyone I know seems to think she is the devil. This thread has made me feel immeasurably better.

As i mentioned in my earlier posts these women, trans women are being murdered. That is their daily level of fear. Another US case
Biological women are also being murdered daily. They also live in daily fear. For both trans women and women, who live in fear of being murdered and under the threat of violence, there’s usually a common denominator. I wonder what that might be? 🤔

My last comment on this issue.

regardless of where you fall on the conversation/argument about trans/women/men and the issues they face.

If you have 14.5m followers, and instead of using that reach to amplify the issues we’re all facing at the moment you choose to use it to target a group of people, during pride month, when people’s mental health is at an all time low, out of nowhere, just because.

you’re a bit of a dick.
She's literally standing up for gay people and lesbians who are being erased by the trans community.
She's not targeting, she's defending.

We are being silenced. It's scary. I have a couple of friends who debate and all agree the men pushing trans rights is ridiculous.
I would never express my views in public or at work. I would be suspended and sacked. I work at Oxbridge (too scared to say which one) and the training I was given....if a person aka man identifies as a woman they can use our spaces ie toilets/showers

So where are my rights and dignity?
Lots of these facilities have now become unisex just to appease a few men who think they are women.

lots of funding has been stopped for research into gender dysphoria and those regretting transitioning
Yep. I was going to like Jo's tweet but worried that anyone that saw it, even people I know, would go after me publicly. How fucked up is that? Men still managing to silence women and speak about their rights by transitioning to a woman (some not even fully transitioning but thinking they can talk for us). Bog off. I know not all M to F are like this but it seems MANY are.

I remember the confusion I felt in the showers at our local gym, hearing a male voice just outside the door ….
Only to find it was a woman transforming from being a man. She was friendly, a nice person, but.....
It put a lot of members in a tricky place, particularly in a gym without individual changing rooms!
What do you say? How do you say this makes me feel uncomfortable, without sounding......unkind.
I wonder if there’s a parallel thread out there with men wondering how not to sound...unkind

Female conditioning sucks 😫

A healthy body is not one that drives a person to suicide. Yes, mental health is a struggle when you are a trans person suffering with gender dysphoria, but that is exactly why this kind of language is harmful. It doesn't help anyone. Have your opinions about "healthy bodies" being "disfigured" but remember all of the especially young trans people who put themselves through hell just to feel safe and happy in their own mind and body. What a person does with their body to make themselves feel like "them" is really none of your concern, nor mine.

Trans people need acceptance, love and a little bit of empathy. Goes a long way. Much further than the kind of comments I've read on this thread. I hope to god no trans person ends up on this thread, given the cruel nature of most of the comments.
Language is not harmful. What a deranged fascist thing to say.

If they’ve “put themselves through hell just to feel safe in their own mind and body” is mentally ill in the extreme, as is demanding to be hug-boxed by the whole world, under the threat of suicide. Thinking you have been born in the wrong body is an obsession and a delusion, and no one else should be forced to partake in other people’s mental problems.

On that note, autogynephilia is a narcissistic paraphilia where they get aroused by other people treating them as female. No one should be forced to participate in other people’s sex life.

I have no extra empathy for trans beyond what I feel for any other human being. They’re not special, and there are people with far worse problems in the world.

No one gave a sh1t what they did with their own lives, until they started dismantling women’s rights and mutilating gay children.

after some reading today around the issues trans women face, specifically written by trans women, it became clear to me that the things they are calling transphobic aren't to do with being trans, they are to do with being a woman.

being cat-called, used for sex, threatened and abused by men, being looked as an object of lust, being called derogatory names.

stop further marginalising yourselves and join us as women and fight the problems we are all subjected to.
That pisses me off too. You wanted to be a woman? Well you got it. We can never escape it like they can.

Full support for JK all the way here.

seeing all the women in the public eye shaming her for her comments is disgusting. Why are women (famous or not) so willingly helping the downfall of their own gender, and I mean actual born females.

women before us worked so hard and sacrificed so much to be able to get us what we have today and we deserve a say in topics relating to gender issues that will undermine our Needs.
Those in the public eye are absolute cowards. They’re swimming along with the stream because THEY don’t want to face the backlash, they want to be seen as inclusive and woke individuals, preserve their £££ and their status. Media and social media is ruled by progressives. Half of them won’t even have read her essay and make moves to hear both sides of the argument. The only reason JKR can speak out is because she can afford to. She’s right, modern times have never seen such bigoted misogyny that’s actually encouraged.

EDIT: and the women in social media (YouTube, insta influencers etc) actually boil my piss with their I DENOUNCE JKR AND HER TRANSPHOBIC VIEWS TEE HEE / TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN without even discussing why she’s apparently transphobic and both sides of the argument/whythere are objections the the “trans women are women“ rhetoric. If it’s the obvious ethical conclusion, you should have no problems in explaining it, should you.

I think her comments are massively overblown and she is being attacked for them. It’s not doing the LBGTQ+ community any favours. But then, crazy activists in any community don’t do a community any favours.

There are a lot of awful people in this word spewing hatred online and I agree they should be challenged. She just isn’t really one of them. I don’t get it.

Here’s me thinking that threads on this website are meaningful but then i came across this deluded one... continue crying about news articles sticking up for people’s rights saying they are “arrogant and patronising” When clearly all of you fucking Jk supporters are just the same with all your “i don’t feel safe in toilets with a trans person” bullshit.
I realise that it's a divisive debate but I don't see anyone here saying "fucking trans supporters" about people on this thread. There have been many civil posts from both sides. Are you saying that all women should feel safe in toilets with male bodies? That's just not always going to be the case unfortunately. Women are entitled to a safe space if they so wish

Please stop throwing women under the bus to ensure you look woke and accepting

There are many many different branches (and holes) in the transactivism, I could talk about it all day. This has snowballed from the movement about certain styles of clothes being aimed towards male and female children, certain toys, certain ideologies and the argument that boys are pushed towards being rough and tumble and will most probably go on to rape our daughters. Girls are being forced to be princesses and be precious and delicate. The activists declared that gender is a social construct and categorically does not exist. Then a few short years later there's this massive uproar because they now want us to believe that there is an epidemic of millions of people being oppressed because they've been born into the wrong body. And you kind of think, hold up 🤔 how can that possibly be? If gender is social construct then that's a total impossibility - you simply can't have it both ways because if males and females are actually the same on an internal level then being 'born into the wrong body' would never be an issue. As a leaping off point, transactivism is just wrong from the get go...

I’m getting confused by how confusing this really is.

People are upset by Rowling saying that women would be the word you’re after and not ‘people who menstruate’. Now transgender people are upset because they can’t menstruate, yet neither can my mum because she’s gone through the menopause both still women, so what was the issue? Indeed, wouldn’t women actually have been the more inclusive term of the two?
I don't even know that trans women are upset by this? It's always trans activists like Jameela Jamil that kick off. I actually saw a lovely post from a trans lady supporting JK. I did see a few posts from ladies who'd had a hysterectomy criticising JK though, wtf 🤦🏻‍♀️
