I remember the confusion I felt in the showers at our local gym, hearing a male voice just outside the door ….
Only to find it was a woman transforming from being a man. She was friendly, a nice person, but.....
It put a lot of members in a tricky place, particularly in a gym without individual changing rooms!
What do you say? How do you say this makes me feel uncomfortable, without sounding......unkind.
We aren’t allowed to. Simple as that. Our feelings aren’t allowed to matter. Only the comfort of the biological male is important according to the trans agenda and cultural brainwashing currently in process. Their right to wave their penis around a female changing room comes before the rights of women to feel safe when they are changing.

I’m going to come across quite uneducated but I don’t really “get” what’s she’s saying or what this is about? Im clearly not clued up on this stuff. Can someone give a simple explanation? I’ve seen so many celebs on twitter literally telling her to fuck off it must be huge. People are saying she hates trans people is that right?!!
She hasn't ever said she hates trans people, that's nonsense.

To be honest my consideration and empathy doesn't lie with trans but with women.

Anyone who wants to be educated and really understand where many women are coming from (and perhaps support women's rights and not men) please go to YouTube and Magdalene Burns RIP 🙏

Never thought I'd see the day that women seeking to protect legal, statutory protections for women would be challenged by other women. The hatred spewed by the trans lobby towards women asking for their hard fought for safe spaces to be protected is disgusting. Arguing that they need to feel safe whilst making sure an entire group of people don't feel safe is inherently selfish and ridiculous.

I think labelling it as 'trans bathroom' could be problematic as I think a unisex bathroom could be beneficial for many people, not just trans people, but I see nothing wrong with a unisex bathroom. Not much different than a disabled bathroom really. My son uses them a lot.
As a woman I hate using unisex bathrooms. Men are disgusting and pee everywhere. That is why I don't like Starbucks bathrooms as often they are unisex. I would not be comfortable sharing a bathroom with men.

Not a trans issue. Hormones in sport issue.
Again, I didn't come to argue, just share support / provide balance but others are doing a much better job. It gives me hope. ✌🏽
Hormones are far from the only thing that make male bodied people physically superior. They have bigger hearts, lungs, more red blood cells, thicker skulls, different pelvises, elbow joints etc.

But on that note, the upper limit for testosterone in women’s sport is set extremely high, far higher than real women will ever have.

Why do you have hope? The trans rights activists in this thread are doing a terrible job at arguing. They come across as emotional and hysterical, and are failing to support their arguments.

Also, public support of LBGT issues is dropping. The backlash is growing everyday. I have sympathy for the LBGs, and for the original Ts who were peacefully living their lives.

As a woman I hate using unisex bathrooms. Men are disgusting and pee everywhere. That is why I don't like Starbucks bathrooms as often they are unisex. I would not be comfortable sharing a bathroom with men.
I never use unisex bathrooms. Not only that but there’s the risk of hidden spy cameras.

YES i would feel safe, there is no reason to feel threatened, tell me what could possibly happen? chances are you probably have already used a female toilet which a trans person has used as well and you didn’t even notice, people already judge them a lot for unfortunately being born in the wrong body and now they can’t even use their toilet because their body doesn’t match? (pretending a female born with a male body) that persons mentality is of the gender they truly are so i think the chances of your privacy being destroyed? is very low. Your telling me the safety of a toilet is based on the people who go in there? There are past criminals who have probably used a public toilet same time as you, should we ban all criminals and send them to a different toilet because perhaps they can’t be trusted? No.
Do you know why we have male and female toilets in the first place?

Not only that but it’s not just about toilets. It’s about changing rooms, hospital wards, women’s refuges, women’s prisons, the right to request a female (actually female) healthcare practitioner, female only gym classes, women’s competitive sports, all women’s short lists, I could go on and on. The toilet issue really just the tip of the iceberg.

literally why I can’t add anything to this thread or conversation. Because I’ve read nothing about what she’s saying, I keep seeing retweets and people I follow calling her out, I don’t see anyone supporting her on my time line, and I dislike her so soooooo much myself I immediately think she’s wrong in everything she says because she has a history of just being a bit of a bitch 😐

makes me think with everything on line, does it make a difference if the person who’s started the conversation is liked or disliked 😐 like if it was Katie Hopkins she’s immediately “wrong” (when she had a platform that is)
JK has always been problematic on twitter, in my opinion. She comes across like someone who enjoys being controversial.

I really am adding nothing here 🤣😂
I should at least know what’s going on before commenting.

but I will add.
JK as a celebrity, exhausting 😐
What is happening here is actually a pretty big deal to many women, and has been for a while. This situation is much, much bigger than JK - she’s just speaking out very loudly because she’s in a position to do so without losing much, unlike the many “normal” women who have spoken up and lost their jobs, been doxxed, had their children threatened (what was said to Posie Parker about wishing her kids got Coronavirus and suffered the same fate as James Bulger - how ANYONE can excuse that is baffling and deplorable).

If you’re only getting information from people calling her out on Twitter then you’re definitely not getting the facts.

Fair enough if you don’t like her - I didn’t like her until recently, although not for the same reasons as you - I don’t think she’s “problematic” at all, I just thought Harry Potter is the most overrated pile of crap in the universe and can’t stand anyone who defines their personality by being obsessed with which house they’re in or banging on about it.
Her being the creator of it all somewhat attracted my ire.

I’d suggest you go and read her essay but I’m guessing that’s probably pointless as you seem to dislike her so much 😬

Apparently I hurt the trans community by saying men don't have periods.

I saw snippets from an underground weird, fetish website where cross dressing men and trans pop a tampon up their bum to see how it feels to be on your period. I kid you not.

There have always been trans people. The aggressive trans activists and their Twitter lynchmobs are a new particularly nasty new development. Most violence against anyone, male/ female/ trans is committed by men. Yet the trans activists will always attack women. Why dont they highlight the actual physical violence against trans and gay people by men instead of attacking women? Why are they not asking for their own spaces? Single cubicle toilets and changing rooms or trans rape crisis centres and refuges? Why do they try to shut down women's concerns? Why don't they demand men are called prostate havens or sperm producers? Do trans men not get offended? I'm glad I have sons because I would hate my daughter grow up in such a misogynistic world.
Exactly! I saw somewhere (not sure if here or elsewhere) that trans women should be welcomed in womens spaces because they're not welcome in mens, eg bathrooms. But again, trans activists are going after the easy target, ie women. It's now our fault that they are supposedly subject to attacks in male spaces

The reason the TRAs are so pissed off about JKR speaking up is because she can't be cancelled.

They relish in "exposing" and doxxing women who don't agree with their extremism, writing anonymously to their employers trying to get them sacked.

I've seen many people on various platforms saying how transphobic she is. When I ask them to specify exactly what she has said that's transphobic, surprisingly I don't hear anything back.

🤷🏼‍♀️

On another note, did anyone see the anonymous message Posie Parker received from a TRA? I've placed it in a spoiler as it's very disturbing.

In my eyes the people who are calling women like me TERFs are siding with people like this:

According to The Times the Tories are going to shelve the self ID reforms because 70% of the public were not in favour of allowing male bodied people into female only spaces. And this was after huge infiltration of the poll by trans activists. As others have said, Twitter is not the world. It comes to something when you have to rely on a Tory government to protect the rights of women!
Twitter is not representative at all, of general attitudes. It’s an insidious place in my experience. Extreme left and extreme right opinions have taken over and both hate moderate, measured opinions. Anything that is not in absolute agreement is met with abuse. Queries about how the Labour Party has conducted itself? You’re Tory scum. Questions about the BLM organisation ? You’re racist. Not quite sure if women’s rights should be handled the same as trans women? TERF.

It’s where logic, reason and intelligence go to die.

It’s always women who get the shitty end of the stick, innit? ‘Pregnant people’, ‘chestfeeders’, ‘people who menstruate’. Never heard the term ‘people who ejaculate’ say, or ‘penis havers’. Besides, not all women menstruate, but only women CAN menstruate, which is what JK Rowling meant. Bringing women who are menopausal etc. into it is a straw man.

Reminds me of that bloke with a beard who decided to grow his hair long and wear dresses. Said he was ‘broadening the bandwidth of what it means to be a woman’. Why does a man get to decide that and why doesn’t he broaden the bandwidth of what it means to be a man instead?
The fact that all these anti JK-ers can’t manage that basic level of comprehension is, to me, very telling. Either all these people supporting the trans agenda are ignoring the real meaning of her tweets on purpose or they are genuinely too thick to understand her words. It’s quite terrifying how easily influenced people can be especially when women and girls are slowly losing their rights because of this gradual cultural brainwash.

Unfortunately the backlash and how accepted it has been has given the green light for men to yet again dominate.

Harry potter whoever he is and mr I play myself and pout Eddie redmayne have made millions off her and their careers have been catapulted because of her but yet again two entitled men who don't give a shit about women and say men are women, trans women are women want to silence jk Rowling.

There is also a sinister underbelly of men who happen to be attracted to trans women who literally hate women.
They are sinister and use the smoke screen of fighting trans rights to shit over women. Makes me think Radcliff and redmayne could be two candidates for this
Yes exactly. Her biggest mistake was pandering to casting agents and allowing mediocre actors who were related to people in the industry like Radcliffe and Watson to be shoehorned into the films of her books. And other actors were bumped when Redmayne said he wanted to do fantastic Beasts. All the Harry Potter kids are millionaires off her back. They have done nothing of note without her. How dare Daniel Radcliffe apologise on behalf of Harry Potter!

SOOO... there was an article that said "people with menstruation." And JK basically said "it isn't people, it is WOMEN" because it is only women who get periods. Then extreme trans activists came out saying she's transphobic because trans men also get periods... but as I said, you can't argue biology, it is women who get them. Personally, I don't think JK is transphobic but I think she struggles with the social issues like I do (i.e. men that say they are a woman but still have a penis and no plan to get surgery using women's bathrooms/changing rooms, "men/people" having periods, men that have transitioned to women competing in woman's sports, etc).

I was taught from a young age how to protect myself, how to keep my wits about me, etc. I'm not saying that everyone is automatically a predator but there are dodgy characters out there and we should try to protect ourselves as much as we can. Now we've come full circle and we're expected to just automatically get rid of any instincts and instantly trust that everyone is who they say they are? As I said before, there are probably plenty of trans people who understand our concerns but there is a sinister element to others based on what I've seen. Women are not physically as strong so we've been taught to trust our instincts and now the woke SJWs are telling us to drop that.

There is clear research that gets buried that many girls who become involved with transitioning and thinking they're in the wrong body as actually simply lesbian and don't maybe have feminine traits. Many are autistic and many have untreated eating disorders

There is a suggestion that trans stuff is the new eating disorder for those going through puberty.

If someone with gender dysphoria cannot transition they are highly likely to take their own life.

Stop perpetuating the damaging myth that trans people not able to transition kill themselves.

IT’S NOT TRUE.

Transitioning makes no difference to rates of suicide in the trans community, and while we’re at it, the suicide stats peddled by Mermaids et al are entirely falsified.
