Surely if your not being transphobic & neither is JK then why be scared to be public with your views.
if you choose to hide your feelings when not on an anonymous forum, maybe you should think about the other point of view

Yeah I personally could never understand the appeal of this show. Drag in general to me seems a little bit like blackface? It's the oppressor (men/white people) imitating and taking on a caricatured version of the oppressed (women/black people). I don't get how it's so celebrated?
I couldn't agree more.

I am sorry for you and your son to have gone throught that. However, anectdotal evidence doesn’t help the cause, and there are NICE guidelines created to help stop sucide ideation amongst vulnerable groups that specifically state that suicide must not be portrayed as inevitable, and yet, many Trans charities and trans activists are ignoring those guidelines by repeatedly telling trans children and their parents that those who do not receive 100% affirmation in their gender identity are at risk of suicide. Not only is this statistically incorrect, it is incredibly dangerous.

By pepertuating the idea that a transgender person will not be able to avoid killing themself if they do not access the transition they require, then it risks becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It’s a harmful argument to the trans community, and yet supposed allies insist on repeating it.
Don't get me wrong I don't necessarily disagree, was just stating that I just do understand where the assumption originates. The depression that comes with gender dysphoria is very, very strong and overwhelming.

You have no power of rational thinking, bless you.

JKR doesn’t need the attention. Hatey Katie only survives on publicity for revenue.
fucking love when someone tries to patronise another user with “bless you” 🤣😂

JKR doesn’t deserve the attention, a sub par author who got lucky with one series and a personality that would sour milk.

I don’t care to argue her latest stream of tweets, because next week/month it will be something else with her.

this thread is about JK Rowling
Not men/women/trans for me.

I'm definitely with you. Are there any feminist groups that you can join these days that have not been coerced by militant trans?
The only place I've found so far is r/gendercritical. Even other subreddits such as r/actuallylesbian, have been invaded by trans
r/gendercritcal has lots of links on the right side of their page including gender critical organisations and resources

I mainly agree but remembered Allen hasn't been convicted of any crime (unlike Polanski). Allegations have been made against him but not proved. I'm not saying that he hasn't done anything questionable but the world should not be a kangaroo court for people outside of the law to decide who is guilty or not.
didn't know that.. still though he has those allegations against him and i dont see the twitter soldiers coming for him

Christ. They couldn’t be any more blatant if they tried. I disagree with Emma, but the way they have written about her compared to Daniel Radcliffe and Eddie Redmayne is so obviously misogynistic and I just can’t support that shit no matter what her views are. Misogyny needs to die a death already.
It's the Daily Fail. Absolute scum

Not at all. If we allow an encroachment of women and their spaces we have literally no where to go/escape/be safe.

The woke community need to wake the fuck up.

A genuine question for those who think I'm a bigot and transphobic....if you were the beautician faced with waxing a pair of hairy balls what would you do?
Knowing full well if you say no you'll be accused of being transphobic and possibly losing your job. So what would you do?
LMAO what is this argument? Isn't that a beautician's job? As someone who has worked in a spa/beauty parlour and saw many naked bodies as it's, uh, part of the job... there is this thing called professionalism. I've waxed and dyed every crevice of someone regardless of their genitalia or gender or what have it, given that it's not just cis women who partake in self-care? Where's the logic in this? Cis men get Brazilian waxes all the time. This hypothetical is an odd one given that your example is one of a professional setting where balls and whatever else get waxed on a regular basis. If someone walks in with long, beautiful hair and a pretty dress on, and wants their balls waxed, they're getting their balls waxed and offered a glass of prosecco. LMAO?? This is bizarre.

I'm glad people more articulate/informed than me are now here.
My main reason for posting was at the time the thread was fairly one sided.
And incase anyone Trans/Have loved ones in the community read this thread, I wanted them to see at least 1 supportive comment.

I’ve read none of this thread,
I know nothing that’s going on,
I don’t care about the public opinion, the popular opinion, the PC opinion, what people say behind closed doors, where they feel safe to be as problematic and judgemental as they wanna be 😐

my only comment, that adds absolutely nothing to this conversation is.....

WHY IS SHE STILL TALKING!!!!
Why is she still talking.
Can’t someone put her phone on charge but forget to plug that shit into the wall?
Why am I constantly seeing this bint making people angry on twitter!!!
Is she doing it for attention or is there a reason she’s banging on YET again and offending the masses, do I care enough to find out 😫
Does it make me a shit person if I don’t actully care because she’s exhausting.

that is all. Told you it adds nothing.

That’s fundamentally not true. The GRA process is incredibly time intensive. You can’t just “apply” to be a woman. Also if a man wants to assault or harass women, pretty sure he’ll go ahead and do that without the rigmarole of gender reassignment?
You can in some places. For instance, here in Australia this law passed last year: https://www.news.com.au/national/vi...y/news-story/7deb9ac5e502c3645907515a465fcfeb

Far less ‘rigmarole’ than was once required.

It seems transphobia trumps in this thread (oh yes, I used the big T word!) to the point where it no longer makes sense to try to alleviate it in anyway. After seeing some appalling posts about not being 'on board' with your own child ever hypothetically being trans, and seeing those kind of posts getting a shit ton of likes, I can no longer see any point in trying to reason with or understand what people on here feel or think. Almost every worry that I could see as genuine, understandable worry, is drenched in transphobia.

I no longer wish to further understand a side that has done everything they can to dispute what it is to be trans, and to belittle it as trans people simply dressing up as someone else, or using it as an excuse to gain access to you. I truly hope none of you on here ever come in contact with a trans person - not for your own "safety" (they're not predators! and I'm not talking about the few taking advantage of a label) or comfort, but because I do not want a trans person to ever have to be subjected to people who are not on board with them, or who disregard who they are. I am sure there will be some way that those words will be twisted out of context, as most other posts here have had the same happen to them. And, if someone on here with these beliefs and opinions ever, hypothetically, has someone close like a child in their life come out to them with this, I hope it's a teachable experience for you, or I simply hope they have better, far more supportive people in their life.

I encourage anyone else who feels the same way I do, to take advantage of the 'ignore' button if anything on here upsets you. I know I will be now. There really is just no point in trying to understand some people after a while.

I don’t think Twitter is a great place to have such discussions (which is one reason why JK Rowling should probably back off)

Firstly the fact that you either have to either squash complex opinions into 280 characters, or start a ridiculous thread which defeats the whole micro-blogging appeal of Twitter in the first place

Secondly, it’s culturally not a place to express certain points of view, just like many other websites. Add in the fact that cancel culture is a huge thing now and even nobodies who make stupid jokes or word something badly are at risk of being hounded with real life consequences (see: Jon Ronson’s book on public shaming)... I can see why people would be afraid to publicly state their opinions

I didn't like the HP books growing up, fantasy isn’t really my genre and her writing didn’t convince me. However, I can appreciate that isn’t a popular opinion and think it’s great that she got many children interested in reading

I read The Casual Vacancy and thought it was alright 🤷🏻‍♀️

I do wonder why she’s coming out with these statements at the moment. She normally seems to be supportive of minority groups and with COVID and BLM going on it’s weird timing
