The bragging about alcohol abuse is what I’m here to discuss. I’ll admit this is likely more disturbing to me than average since I have alcohol abusing parents and I spent my entire childhood dealing with this sort of BS. I understand that alcohol abuse is not entirely rational but saying “oh but it’s a good reason to get drunk!” (suggesting this was a rational decision). No it’s really not. At best it inconveniences everyone else. At worst, if the plane is actually crashing (fortunately highly unlikely but technically could happen), you’re obviously way less safe, and making everyone else way less safe, by being “overdosed” on alcohol and Valium or whatever she said she was. The idea that this is praiseworthy behaviour because now she gets to see Mark Owen for the 8000th time? No. Get outta here. Substance abuse is not praiseworthy.
side note: I generally think people should be “allowed” to enjoy whatever they enjoy. If mark Owen brings you joy, great, love that for you. There’s something for everyone. But the amount of money they’re spending on this tour??? I need a fainting emoji… lol. (Also they could’ve spent some of that on actual therapy to help develop healthy skills that don’t involve substance abuse. But that would require awareness that it’s a problem which evidently they lack).
