There's absolutely no comparison. I've seen both my parents after they died peacefully in bed. Luckily, I've never seen what an assault rifle can do to a human body but I've seen the hole left by a .22 rifle bullet in a plasticine head at 25 yards, and what an L98A/SA80 5.56mm NATO-standard bullet can do to brickwork on a rifle range, as well as sat through videos on military first aid courses (which prepare you to deal with lovelies like sucking chest wounds and innards hanging out). No comparison whatsoever.

As an American - I agree. And btw - it has been proven that - if possible and I'm talking about people who have not died in a hideous way - that viewing the body is the start of coming to terms with the death. I'm also Irish and part southern (Dad) and I can't count how many funerals I've been to. Huge family...

Wanting to renew marriage vows is a very common last ditch effort to save your marriage (planning extra great vacations the other one), and saying extra sweet things is also common to convince yourself that you still love your spouse - I think she was very naive here
Eventhough that's the one thing I did feel sorry for her. If you are oblivious to it it's painful as duck when your spouse no longer keeps up the act.
