I disliked Sophie's design. If she really had to lean into the safari side of things then at least research what animals are present at the park, where they are from, what organisations the park works with and where. Draw inspiration from those animals and countries. But no just random "African countries" famous for "safaris" and any and all animal print. (I don't think Longleat even has any reptiles or insects for instance.) (Also cheetah print against snakes?!) It overall felt too much and rather tacky. (Thank goodness she removed the African countries though.) Her more muted master bedroom and dining room felt more sophisticated and more appropriate.

Ben seems frustrated with Sophie and I don't blame him.

I did like lia's upstairs rooms. They didn't feel too over the top and suitable for the location. In such a location, something calm like that would feel nice. The tapestry wallpaper is stunning.

Neither seemed very interested in the properties and their time periods / histories which seemed a missed opportunity.

I'm overall ambivalent about the results though as both seemed like someone next would like. I'm a bit surprised by lia's products, it's pretty generic but again,no doubt next heavily influenced it. I remember last year's winner didn't have a great or authentic feeling range either so it's to be expected.

I'm a little jealous of Alan interacting with all the animals haha 😆

The 2 different blues in John's bedroom really annoyed our household but wasn't mentioned elsewhere so may have just been us, do think should have been the same to tie them in together
it annoyed me too - that turquoise on the window didnt go with the navy

I wish LLB was the host and judge. He'd be amazing.

His series on historical interior design styles in the UK is still available on iPlayer, called "Taste".
Yeah he would have to be host as well as judge I think. In Northern Ireland Home of the Year he's the host and then they have three local judges though he's always making jokes about how wonderful he is which wears thin.

I liked Emma’s space - I thought she chose a nice blue and I liked the mural. Chair at the end did look a bit crap

There's loads of jewellery shops with expensive jewellery in their windows. I suppose they must spend more on security, special window glass etc than guitar shop could afford but did think it made the challenge unfair.
But jewellery is small and generally made of metal, it won't warp and fade in the sun?

It was unfair.

I did love the "I contacted my local football club.... Tottenham Hotspur" this week, to become a football coach. I was expecting, I don't know, Horsted Keynes FC or something.

But surely they always have a small budget. I don't think that's changed at all? In case anyone's interested, Michelle's feedback on the retail episode is on her Substack now.

Was Baby Reindeer filmed there? When he's doing his disastrous Edinburgh run?
It looked vaguely familiar.
According to Wikipedia:

In Edinburgh, the Hoppy pub in Meadowbank, Edinburgh served as the exterior of the Festival Fringe venue for Donny's comedy show (interior scenes were filmed in the Army & Navy pub in Stoke Newington, London).

Hope folk can read it was behind a firewall https://archive.ph/BkFPb
the kitchen, hallway and bathroom are gorgeous, that bathroom mosaic is insanely good. she gets it so right sometimes, but the pattern clashing can get so extreme in places that it's just too overwhelming especially in photos. imo it's so important in design to acknowledge something is lovely but just not for that space on that scale.
