It was amazing how bland the cottages were before, especially for a place like port meirion!
I thought that. Very dated and boring not what you'd expect from such a place like Port Meiron. Wonder if they have been changed from their designs.

John’s bar was stunning…. His performance space was very underwhelming

If he wins next week over Rita it will be a travesty! She absolutely nailed it this week

I like the lamp but I don’t see how he designed it. I really dislike the print used on almost everything. It’s so expensive too!

I've really enjoyed seeing Banjo as a judge on Scotland's Home of the Year if you're needing an interior TV fix (I've also finished the LLB Channel 4 programme with lots of amazingly bold homes). Does anyone else have any interior-y shows they recommend to watch whilst waiting for the next series to hurry up?
his designing the hebredies series was great! i like your home made perfect (maybe more architecture) and the george clarke ones, can't remember if it's old house new home type or amazing spaces that i've been watching recently. there's a segment where they go to the manufacturing facility of a certain furniture piece and then utilise it in the finished design, usually a period appropriate classic. i get a lot of interior design content from youtube now though!

I agree that Michelle was very inconsistent. I thought it was a really boring episode overall. Happy with the result I found him really annoying and was definitely weakest overall
I quite liked the guy that went though he was the weakest.
I don't think any of them nailed it tbh. Craig's was best and his door idea was good. But none of the rooms felt like a normal living room but dog proofed.

Anyone watching tonight? I missed the first half, but watching now. I like Dara O’Briain - he always seems like a decent sort

I wouldn't mind having a JAZZY holiday let because it would be very memorable - and it's not your home so I feel you can go more OTT with it like Sophie did. I really did think Sophie would win before the final episode because her ideas probably translate better to a collection with Next. Where are all the dried flowers in your collection Lia, I thought that was your signature :ROFLMAO:

Do we think they were just trying to make it less obvious that this series is a two horse race between Rita and Craig?!
I was wondering exactly that - hence the faux jeopardy of Craig being on the sofa. I mean it really is going to be those two in the final isn't it? And probably Rita to win.
What is the prize this series?

Thought it was interesting last night, as although I did prefer the design for the paper shop and agree it was more memorable. The girls shop was a great space to display the stock, and I bet the owners loved it!

In fact a generic ladies fashion shop like that must be tricky to design for. The clothing itself was tasteful and stylish, not bright colours or that different in style from loads of others. So to some extent the design has also be tasteful and stylish!
And the jewellery was far to valuable to be able to display in any way other than in a lockable cabinet, which must be restrictive!
True but they could have come up with some more exciting type of cabinets/cases and not had them so low to the ground

With the guitar shop I immediately thought they should have had a sort of museum aspect - photos of bands and artists using those guitars, a history of those guitars in photos, clippings from NME etc.
Just a lot more info.
Yes more imagery would have helped. Made it seem less like a guitar warehouse.

I disliked Sophie's design. If she really had to lean into the safari side of things then at least research what animals are present at the park, where they are from, what organisations the park works with and where. Draw inspiration from those animals and countries. But no just random "African countries" famous for "safaris" and any and all animal print. (I don't think Longleat even has any reptiles or insects for instance.) (Also cheetah print against snakes?!) It overall felt too much and rather tacky. (Thank goodness she removed the African countries though.) Her more muted master bedroom and dining room felt more sophisticated and more appropriate.

Ben seems frustrated with Sophie and I don't blame him.

I did like lia's upstairs rooms. They didn't feel too over the top and suitable for the location. In such a location, something calm like that would feel nice. The tapestry wallpaper is stunning.

Neither seemed very interested in the properties and their time periods / histories which seemed a missed opportunity.

I'm overall ambivalent about the results though as both seemed like someone next would like. I'm a bit surprised by lia's products, it's pretty generic but again,no doubt next heavily influenced it. I remember last year's winner didn't have a great or authentic feeling range either so it's to be expected.

I'm a little jealous of Alan interacting with all the animals haha 😆
