I thought it was a bit harsh that they put two of the youngest together in a task about designing for older people. I liked both of them and it’s a shame we won’t see more from them but it was the right choice this week. I love Rita, the whole Lola backstory was brilliant 🤣

I’m so gutted Rita didn’t win, she’s been great throughout the series but John’s cottage was better and he really did grow and learn in the competition. I wonder if he’s now given up teaching, that JL collection won’t set the world alight!

The 2 different blues in John's bedroom really annoyed our household but wasn't mentioned elsewhere so may have just been us, do think should have been the same to tie them in together
I overall liked that bedroom but agree 100% about the two blues. They were too close in colour so looked jarring - a completely different colour would've worked - terracotta? (I've no idea as have no clue tbh 😂 ).

And agree about Rita's basket lampshade - I thought it looked bloody awful. Like a huge upside down basket.

Michelle speaks to the contestants like they're lower sixth students who are full of enthusiasm but need a lot of knowledge and skill imparted, I appreciate all the contestants develop over the series but I think Michelle would prefer a group that's a little more accomplished and need less of her guidance. I bet she's in the equivalent of the teachers lounge cracking open a gin before the bells' even gone when filming
I think the prize isn't great for an interior designer if the show is to be a spring board. Some sort of actual interior design project would perhaps attract better people. Maybe even have each week as a smaller example of part of the bigger prize project.

Like the prize is a hotel makeover. Week 1 is standard guest bedroom in a posh hotel. Week 2 is a dining room of a charity. Week 3 is still shop week etc and one of the judges is the owner of the final prize building seeking out who's style they like best.

Hope that makes sense, just a random brain dump of an idea!

I liked bits of Craig and Johns but actually thought the fretwork and stencilling was far too twee and cliche.
As soon as Rita put that big curtain up my PH said ‘Michelle won’t like that!’

I agree - the guitar shop was great and what the client wanted.

I noticed that the gift shop was painted the same colours as Michelle's studio (which isn't really her studio and looks like a film set). I disliked the stupid Blue Peter tree in the window.

Good fun to watch, some great ideas and I liked many of the first rooms. I'm happy it's back on.

Perhaps they could have made the small budget work by being really minimal and modern. Instead of leaning heavily into painting, decorating and big builds, invest the limited funds in some really solid, good quality pieces, and arrange them cleverly. Instead of trying to decorate the whole room, focus on smaller details ("moments") in the room which can tie it together. Ultimately the people using those boxes need it to be functional and neutral I would think. I can't help but think of the guy who got kicked off on the first ep? 😅

I still can't believe Sophie has gotten this far.
I sometimes think of the one who was kicked off first. He was literally about the only one who thought of practicalities and storage.
And yet Emmely got through who put the kitchen so it blocked the whole bloody view 🤦‍♀️

Quite enjoying this series. Bradley is a bit of a pain, funny he had a little bitch about the hallway and they loved it.

Thing is though, you're meant to be/want to be a professional. You're never going to work on projects all the time that you have knowledge of. It's their job to research.
Wierd thing is I think he did - he said he rang loads of people and researched it - then must have ignored them and the brief entirely 😬 I was baffled as to his insistence on doing an indoor outdoor space when there were loads of actual outdoor spaces. He seemed a lovely person and took it very well though.
My design would have been very boring. Literally a sitting room with soft (though robust) furnishings. I've watched the Pete Wicks dog rehoming programme and that is what they have in their transitional rooms.

I also note the lack of Loz Lewellyn Bowen and Matthew "skinny pants and Loathers" Williamson have not featured and instead its been the woman who likes colour ( which again to me screams PAINTER AND DECORATOR judge).
LLB is judging in the final, I saw the back of him in the preview  🥳
