Argh Craig. Stumbled at the final hurdle. That downstairs space was exactly where his skill at a sort of cosy 50s speakeasy would have been perfect.
I am utterly baffled John has made it this far. Baffled. Not on this week's but generally.
Rita's was good and I loved the concept but I didn't like the idea of a VIP area tbh. Why? In a small comedy club. Seems a bit wanky.
And a bit unfair Craig had two areas over different floors to deal with unlike the others.
But on tonight's Craig had to go sadly.

Seems a pretty strong year based on this week.

No one really awful, some not as good as others, but no disasters.

Victoria is the only one who slightly annoyed me on a personality level

Loved Johns style at home but not such a fan of his room. But it did have some clever ideas.

John's design was fantastic, so much better than anything he's ever done before, it almost seems like someone helped him. He deserved to win based on this design but his journey to the final was shocking and he didn't deserve to win overall. Rita's design wasn't very good, the orange hallway was a huge mistake, the kitchen was bad and I didn't really like the dull colours she used. I think she was scuppered by the small rooms, John's layout was easier to work with. It feels like it was fixed for him to win

I think it was a poor choice of challenge, the producers probably thought it would be quirky and nice to show a few dogs on the show but Battersea aren’t going to get actual interior designers in to decorate the rest of their training rooms are they? I hope they do shops or a bar/cafe soon.

agree with this. A hotel room doesnt need to be filled with stuff.. They need to be functional and the contestants start adding in all sorts of shite to "pretty their design up"... when in reality. Nik naks do not belong inside a hotel bedroom. Its like no one has ever stayed in a hotel room before.

Yes, have nice furniture, walls and curtains but not random cushions that no one ever washes.
It'd be interesting to know how much they redecorated/ how much the BBC paid the castle to let them use the rooms as basically an experiment.

I'm finding this series quite boring, and I just had last night's episode on as background noise whilst I was online

I've given up, I used to enjoy it, but this series just feels off.

I loved Holly's, Craig's and Rita's spaces (again!) Victoria's was also very good. I think the right person went. I didn't like Emma's or Bradley's, and wasn't keen on the DT teacher's either. The spaces were really tricky, given that they were so long and narrow. I was also concerned about the lack of toilet...imagine it's pouring with rain / freezing cold and you've got to trek outside to go to the loo. Michelle said it was about luring people back to an office, there's no way I'd be leaving my nice home office and easy access to the bathroom to sit in a box in a carpark, with no toilet

ETA: I didn't like Emma's, but I also didn't like the one that was painted white and had the swing. Can't remember her name.

I liked that Australian woman's room too.

I didn't like Duran's green headboard, I thought it looked cheap.

A lot of the painted furniture looked cheap esp the white ones . The Alice in Wonderland stuff was hideous.

I'd have sent the Alice in Wonderland or paper mache person home.

It's Michelle.
She has zero charisma and can't carry a BBC-level show.
It would be totally unwatchable without Alan adding his bits of silliness.
I wish she'd be replaced with somebody with more personality who can connect with the viewers.

I personally have found her a breath of fresh air. No drama, straight to who she's sending home with none of the leading comments about someone else, dramatic pauses then a shock exit, it's normally pretty damn clear who she's sending home, and she gives advice and talks through it without any TV nonsense. I like that. She's been fine in previous seasons, but this season she just seems switched off, not as interested herself. I hope she's ok.

I think Briony won by default by producing a room that hit the brief the best rather than the best design.

Craig really ballsed it up this week. Who was his telly friend in his reel? Recognised her but couldn't place her!

She did the agony aunt but on Graham Norton’s radio show. Sad for Craig as he fucked that up big time and knew it.

That was the best first week for a long time. There were no stand out oddballs like Andi Pandy last year or the dramatic loser, can't remember his name. The designs were all very good, even Ese's design was good, just a shame about the finishing and quality, he definitely deserved to go. I loved the Scouse lad's design and I really liked the Steamer room. Lots of potential

I agree! Great selection of contestants this year! So many designs I actually liked.

Craig was my favourite overall but he lost the plot with this one.
I said before that his 50s Mad Men vibe would have been perfect in that space. The last one just looked quite tatty. I didn't like John's much (just not my taste) but it was impressive and I did love the bar area and background.

The first guy never should have gone. Michelle’s main criticism was his sliding cushions. I’d love to have seen Ajeet’s remodelling of the boxes.

I haven't watched a couple of episodes so have I missed Laurence LB? I like him so much. I always hope he'll be on Celebrity Traitors - he'd be marvellous.
