Well I never thought i'd agree with something lazy said but she's right children all develop at different rates. Jace is a few weeks away from his 18 month check up and he will be expected to say between 6 and 20 individual words. So if hes able to says a number inbetween there is no need to worry yet. My grandaughter went into lockdown saying only 8 words,the same 8 words she could say at her 18 mth check - she was 2 in May.
We didn't see her again untill after hubby had completed his radiotherapy treatment and was given the go ahead for me to baby sit again. Her parents were both key workers, but luckily the son was furloughed during hubbys treatment and was able to care for her. When we did see her in july she had just started to string words together. Now at 28 months there is no stopping her, she repeats anything and everything to the point where we have to be careful what we say!
We had spoken about the 'delay' and agreed if there was no improvement by the time she was 2 and a half her parents would push for help for her. So as it is, i don't see any reason at the moment for them to worry about Jace's perceived lack of words.
