Are you talking about Kefir or modulen?

Kefir i have one in the morning
I think/ hope she’s talking about kefir- modulen obviously is prescribed so you are told how much to take and is only used for aggressive periods of illness (I still feel your pain!!)

Does anyone else find they have to force themselves to eat meals, even when not hungry, just to stop a flare up?

I wasn't hungry at lunchtime, so didn't bother having my lunch as I didn't want to force myself and within 90 minutes I was having a flare, which then resulted in me having a panic attack :(

I find I have to eat at set times of the day otherwise it messes my stomach all up. I feel horrendous.

Wondering if anyone can help me. For the last maybe two weeks, I’ve had awful indigestion pain not only after I eat but all the time, this pain (more of a pressure and tenderness than a pain) then radiates down to my lower left and then to my lower right. It also radiates to my left boob and sometimes my back. I went to my GP and she sent me to to the ER just to rule out anything cardiac related, had an ECG and all was fine, bloods also I’m told were perfect. So back to GP a few days ago to give a stool sample and have it tested for H Pylori, results I haven’t got yet but I don’t think it’s that as I’m not vomiting nor is the pain *that* bad, it’s just, there, always, and more like I need someone to pop me I feel that full and bloated all. the. time. Google has me freaked out that it could be anything from MS to cancer and I just can’t Google anymore. But I do know I just don’t feel right. Can indigestion be this persistent and last this long? My stools are relatively normal looking too, maybe a bit stickier looking than normal (gross) but nothing wild looking. Anyone experience anything like this?

I've suffered IBS for years, usually bloating, will have times where I need to run to the toilet with minimal notice I need to go, never suffer constipation though. I had norovirus last year and since then any time I eat rich food I am crippled with bloating it's been awful. I bought some peppermint oil capsules a few weeks ago and one will massively help the painful bloating and rock hard stomach that makes me look as if I am 6 months pregnant.

Not sure if the norovirus had anything to do with this recent flare up but the peppermint oil has been a godsend. I get multiple minty tasting burps after taking it and it eases the pain within the hour. Hopefully this helps someone suffering too 🙌

Have they checked for Coeliac disease?

thank you for this! I’ve not seen these before but I’m going to pick some up today. Anything is worth a try, my symptoms sound really similar to yours so hopefully they work for me too!

Ask if you can get a CT scan to check for diverticular disease.

I had a couple of similar symptoms to this in that my stomach was tender on the left (upper usually but can also be lower left) and I had bad acid (which is originally what the doctor in A&E told me I need to be tested for). I also felt like I was having a heart attack as the burning in my chest from my acid was horrible.
Usually when it’s the left side it’s diverticular.

I always feel bloated when I “flare up” and sometimes tight underneath my boobs and it can be a struggle to take full deep breaths.

Hope this helps as something else you may be able to flag with your doctor x

Posting again on here because I feel like some of you will understand it here but I had my iron infusion yesterday and apart from being wide awake and having broken sleep, I feel like a new woman. I’m not sure if it’s psychological yet but I’ve been awake for about an hour and I don’t feel like I’ve only had six hours sleep, I feel so ready for the day which hasn’t been the case for a long time. I don’t want to jinx myself but I’m actually shocked and so grateful that someone finally listened to me (after a lot of begging) and actually made it happen.

Starting to think on top of my longstanding diagnosis, I might have celiac’s. I need to get over my fear of doctors and see a GI.

Not sure if this is the right place to post. But, I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 13, I’m 27 now! For its entirety, I have had periods where it’s totally manageable and then awful for months on end. I also, seem to not be able to consume certain foods for a few years then I’m fine again (weird). Anyways, I’ve been suffering with nausea/vomiting, feeling faint and having hot flushes for the last ten years. I initially thought it was part of my IBS and lived with it. This last year it’s become absolutely awful and I had an endoscopy a few weeks ago. They said I have non erosive gastritis and have referred me to the specialists at hospital. Has anyone had gastritis and have any recommendations on how to ease it? I’m on omeprazole but, I don’t feel like it’s effective. I’ve read celery juice can help but, not sure! I’m willing to try anything as it’s currently controlling my life and I’ve never felt so bad. It’s also hard to explain to those around me because, they don’t understand how shocking I feel or why I don’t want to go out a lot of the time with them as I might take a funny turn.

If anyone has any tips, please let me know! Thanks in advance x

Try Nexium, you can buy it, but it's not cheap. If it works ask your gp to prescribe it, they can be reluctant as it's more expensive. I suppose your endoscopy didn't show an infection h pylori? I had gastritis caused by that.

There are other zoles, lansoprazole is another, some find one works for them and the other doesn’t do definitely ask for another.

Do you have a local pharmacist you can speak to? I just got off the phone with mine — I was about to take omeprazole for acid reflux I’m experiencing but I was looking for something fast acting. We went through everything over the phone together and she was able to guide me.
peptobismal is a non-starter because I have an ulcer and Tums while available as an option isn’t providing long term relief - so she recommends I take a probiotic in the morning followed by omeprazole 😅
Anyway, pharmacists know a whole lot. Just make sure to be clear that the medicine you’re currently taking is over the counter otherwise the pharmacist will tell you that you need to speak to your doctor.

Thanks all ❤ I’ll contact my pharmacist and see if they have any recommendations if not, I’ll book a GP appointment for a medicine review.

My endoscopy results have come back but, because the clinician is on annual leave, no one else can tell me the results because it’s addressed to him 🤷🏼‍♀️ So I have to wait to see if I have an infection or celiac disease

My colitis symptoms have started getting bad. I get maybe a three second warning to make it to the restroom, bloating, and I have strong cramping. I am in the process of booking a GI appointment. I have seen maybe seven GI’s and only liked one. I’m very attached to her but she no longer accepts my insurance 🙁

I tried finding relief using a low fodmap diet today. It was reassuring to see that many of the fruit and veg I had eliminated from my diet were already on the fodmap “bad” list. It could be a coincidence that I experienced a small alleviation of symptoms today, so I’m going to continue for a few more days and see how I feel.

ETA: To add bloating to my symptom list.

I've been suffering with bloating and trapped wind causing me pain for a few days. I did have a pain in my stomach area but it's gone now. Nor sure if it's ibs or if I've caught a bug . It's extremely uncomfortable at night when lying down , I can get a bit relief through moving around .

Try some peptac/ gaviscon or similar as well as a hot water bottle and movement- hopefully it eases soon :) also lying on your left side with a hot water bottle can get things moving.

This has completely changed my life. I’m sleeping on my left side now 99% of the time.

I’m still going without gluten and FODMAPS. Tonight I was lazy when it came to cooking / meal preparing and decided to have a vegetarian protein smoothie. I’m just not impressed with myself atm. I forgot to read the label first and it’s basically alllll FODMAPS in there 😣

I’m glad it helped! Apparently it helps the bowel move in the correct direction.

Sorry the diet isn’t going well though. I never did strict fodmap as simple low residue was enough to alleviate symptoms for me, it must be such a struggle :(
