Oh really? Interesting... Clearly if that's why, then he followed his mantra and chose discomfort over resentmentif I remember rightly, Sunny and Shay took over his BBC WM show when he got let go from it, so there may be some resentment from that……
I mean, the obvious answer whenever someone complains about a lack of callers, or the same old callers, is "You go for it!"So…. Who’s going to call in??
At first, I couldn't work out whether it was real or not, when Iain stormed into the studio and started shouting at James Whale.I've never heard him say anything about Kevin, but Iain slagged off Mike's listeners on air at TR with Julia's (though he and Kath have both intimated Mike doesn't believe the stuff he comes out with and is actually friendly with them), and as has been noted elsewhere here he had a falling-out with James on air - I remember him being properly annoyed/disgusted that James was using the phrase "Greta Funbags". Which, to be fair, did always seem like a weird way to talk about a teenage girl.
James Whale is also a loose cannon, had it not been for his views being more right-leaning and also since it would be a bad look to axe someone with cancer, I reckon he'd have followed Iain out of the door. He does do the occasional show which is funny but there is nothing funny about an early 70 something man slagging off and calling a teenage girl names. At first, I couldn't work out whether it was real or not, when Iain stormed into the studio and started shouting at James Whale.
I have heard James Whale call Greta a poison dwarf. He's even worse about her and said she's 18 now, so he can say what he likes.
Mike Graham looks like he's had his lips done...

He used to be called loaf head when he and Parry were together.Hasn't MG mostly just learned to comb his hair and put a suit on? He still looks like someone wrapped a toad in ham.
I don't think one selective Twitter post from quite a while back can be representative in providing a fair overall picture for a number of reasons.I fully agree about the James O'Brien dog whistling, which I think I noted that Iain does do himself - if I didn't, I certainly meant to. I just don't believe that was ever the case with Cristo.
Granted, a Twitter search doesn't bring up deleted tweets, but I think the link I posted gives a pretty fair overall picture of what happened - it's just a pity that Iain's own tweets are always missing from things like this.
I won’t listen or call in.I hope it’s good to be honest, I hope he doesn’t Fuck it up and that’s it’s some good chaotic fun…. Late night would be better…. Mind you I’d hate waiting around to work, early starts are ok, if you don’t mind early nights and little “fun”….
Ultimately, it might be the best thing to happen to him in years. But for it to succeed, I think he will have to ditch twitch and the ..itch
If I’m listening, if it’s appropriate and I’ve got something to say, I might call.
Not always.Oh really? Interesting... Clearly if that's why, then he followed his mantra and chose discomfort over resentment
If I understand correctly the gist of what you are saying, then I kind of get your point . However, how often can you hear and see someone behave badly and not expect to eventually be on the receiving end of it? You’ve bought a ticket (literally) for the show. Iain is a prime example of ‘look how he treats people now cos that’s how he will be treating you in 6 months time’. Classic. But if they've been brainwashed (which was a fan myself I would obviously dispute - but then maybe that's what I've been conditioned to do), isn't criticising them for sticking up for Iain a lot like criticising someone who's been hypnotised for clucking like a chicken every time they hear the word "kettle"?
It’s always the caller that ‘turns’, as opposed to Iain, the one common denominator.I'll admit my tongue was a bit in my cheek there, as I find the brainwashing idea to be a bit out-there.
You do make an interesting point, though. Another of Iain's mantras is "They all turn eventually" like it's some inevitability, which has always seemed odd. Does he think Gatford will "turn"? Or Matty? They've both been with him for decades.
It takes any responsibility away from Iain for him to believe that everyone will "turn" on him, which I think is a bit unfair. Babcock certainly didn't deserve to be cut away like he was.
(That said, Alan Caddick definitely "turned" - he wrote on a Facebook group that Kath was a b**** and he hoped they both f***ing die. I don't miss his calls.)
Ahh, ok. I retract the accredited comment. My bad if that is not factually correct.Brainwashing in this specific case is just cognitive conditioning. It's not like vulnerables were forced against their will and held captive like some American cult.
They were already of the disposition of wanting to be controlled before they joined the TLNA cult. They were looking for a Messiah and Eyan gives that to them. They gravitated willingly towards Eyan as some kind of charismatic guru.
Many are prepared to sub to TLNA when they simply can't afford it. So they go without, imo, more important things like food and savings to cover basic expenses.
They're vulnerables who are looking for a home. And Eyan gives that to them. But keeps them under his control with pressure. They all want to be his best friend.
Sticking up for Eyan?
I can't see any situation when Eyan has ever needed to be stuck up for or defended? If anyone can share any situation where Eyan has been the victim and needed to be stuck up for by his vulnerables that would be very interesting. Sounds like trying to justify the behaviour of his fans, tbh, LOLs.
Many times Eyan has indeed said "Eventually they turn on you, they all turn on you".
Yet, every time Eyan has fallen out it's been entirely his fault. But in his mind he can convince himself people "turned" on him.
It's the very definition of NPD.
It's quite delusional and a bit sinister, tbh. Quite worrying how Eyan genuinely believes this and Kaffbo buys in to this delusion.
His cult will tell Eyan exactly what he wants to hear: that he's the victim in every single situation and he's never wrong. The vulnerables are that delusional because of willingly signing up to conditioning, manipulation and hero worship. They even pay for it!
Eyan is the absolute very last person who should be allowed anywhere near any psychologically vulnerable people. I can see Eyan making someone end up a lot worse. They're some really bad counsellors out there who have some serious deep seated issues themselves. There're many cases of Eyan type counsellors taking advantage of vulnerables.
I'm sure Eyan said his course wasn't "accredited" and was therefore cheaper.
But, I'm sure Eyan also said that all courses aren't "accredited" anyway. I think Eyan is right on this as "counselling" is not regulated by legislation or any kind of government oversight. It's a bit of a Wild West "profession" and anyone can set themselves up as a "counsellor" with a certificate downloaded from the internet
Before anyone says I'm saying "Eyan downloaded his counselling qualification off t'internet" I'm not! I know he's undergoing some kind of class room/placements based training from some kind of "organisation" as it's mostly all he talks about in his shows.
This bitI think this is a trickier topic than it's being given credit for.
I'll start by saying I have absolutely seen occasions where people have been genuinely trying to offer help or advice, or where their comments have otherwise come from a good place, and they've been shouted down unfairly. I don't want to diminish anyone's experience here, or upset anyone, so I'm going to assume anyone in here with personal experience of it falls into that category.
But a lot of the time, when people do turn on someone, it's someone who's been rude, obnoxious, offensive, inappropriate or some combination thereof. They've gone out of their way, either to type it into the chat (Let's deal with Twitter separately in a moment), or to actually call in.
When this happens during a show... It's like said person has interrupted a comedy gig. And what happens at a comedy gig in real life mirrors what usually happens on Twitch/YouTube. Initially, the performer takes on the heckler themselves, usually by trying to delve deeper or with some withering putdowns, depending on the nature of the heckler. If the heckler continues to interrupt the show, the crowd starts to boo them, to ridicule them, and eventually if it carries on they're escorted from the room by security. That's considered almost standard procedure across the world - there's any number of videos of it happening on YouTube. So what's different about when it happens during an online show? I'd be genuinely interested to hear people's takes on that.
Twitter is a different beast, and a well-documented one. Again, a lot of the people Iain retweets are being offensive or rude, by most people's standards. But it's different because it's not happening during a performance, and it's happening with a potential audience of nearly 100,000, rather than 200-300.
I have definitely been a part of such pile-ons in the past, whether for Iain or other blue-ticks who retweeted their detractors. At the time, I'm sure I enjoyed it and felt righteous. I'd advise anyone to read Jon Ronson's book 'So You've Been Publicly Shamed', which spends a lot of time speaking to the victims of Twitter 'mob justice'. It's not something I indulge in anymore, and can only apologise if anyone here was on the receiving end. We will never know. So yes, when Iain does it on Twitter it makes me feel very uncomfortable. No disagreement from me there.
But when it happens during a show... If TLNA is a gig, they're interrupting the gig. If TLNA is a community meeting, they're interrupting the meeting. And if, god forbid, TLNA is a cult, then they're coming in and pissing in the Kool-Aid. I think the response is sometimes disproportionate to the crime, for sure, but let's not pretend these things don't have consequences in the real world.
(And @General Kim, I don't know why you keep bringing up Cristo. Any shitstorm around him filling Iain's spot was mild at best, and both parties had nothing but kindness towards one another. Cristo even opened his first show with a glowing tribute to Iain. I didn't post a link to one tweet, I posted a link to all the tweets which still exist and included Iain and Cristo. Some may have been deleted, but it really was about 50-50 respect and disdain. Iain has gone after plenty of valid targets, so to keep mentioning Cristo is a bit baffling.)
I do think the love and inclusivity thing was a promise they could never have kept. But surely it doesn't mean they're obliged to sit back and be nice when people ring up to attack them at their place of work? Again, there's been plenty of missteps, and people clamped down hard on who were coming from a good place, but if someone rings up to tell them they're shit and telling them what they should and shouldn't be doing, for them to sit back and go "Oh, right, I see, yes, thank you" is a very big ask, for both the audience who are enjoying it and Iain and Kath themselves. This bit
So what's different about when it happens during an online show? I'd be genuinely interested to hear people's takes on that.
Expectation. They said they were about love, life, laughs, authenticity and inclusivity . A refuge for the lost and lonely. Big billing.
