How often do you get a takeaway?

My partner and I have takeaway every Saturday, it varies from chinese, chippy or burgers from a local restaurant which offers takeaway. On top of that we'll maybe nip to McDonalds once a week (sometimes after we've already eaten in the evening for a "snack").On a really naughty week we might have chippy on a Friday as well as takeaway on a Saturday.. As well as that, my partner works out on a van so he'll often pop to a burger van during the week for lunch. I make my own lunches for work so don't have any takeaways at work. It's not until you write it down you realise how terrible it is..........

In our defence, we're living with his parents at the moment waiting to move into our own property so often it's easier to buy dinner than it is to try and work around his families times to get into the kitchen and prepare something. I always feel a bit of a burden when I'm in the kitchen and someone else wants it too! I imagine when we've got our own place our habits will change, not least because we just won't be able to afford it!

I admire you all who have better willpower than me and hardly have it!

Does Mc Donalds count as a takeaway? I have one of those at least one a week but dont hardly ever have other takeaways like Chinese, Indians etc.

I share a Chinese with my son about every fortnight, usually chow mein or chicken with black bean sauce. Can’t say I’m that bothered about it, I think he enjoys it more but at least I don’t have to cook. My husband has a weekly Indian but he makes it last 3 days! We have fish and chips once a month. We never have pizza, ridiculously over-priced.

In lockdown maybe 2 or 3 a week.

When we can go out for dinner maybe one takeaway a week then one or 2 meals out.

3-4x a week, sometimes less sometimes more. I have some physical issues and pain that makes it difficult (and excruciating) to cook. Also, I know how to cook but I loathe doing it.

Very rarely - no one can ever find my house so I always have to go on a walk to find the driver and my town doesn't have amazing take aways. The last one I had was an Indian for my birthday on September, which didn't taste amazing, and the time before that was a Papa John's to celebrate a friends birthday, way back in February! I might order more if we had a good Chinese take away in my town though...

Where we love there are very few take aways and most of them are rubbish and not worth it. There’s not even a McDonald’s close by. Annoying some times , but it saves me money. However a delicious Indian take out has just opened, it’s really good food so we’ve had three of them in a month 🙈

I am trying really hard to reduce mine.

I’d say now we’re averaging one a week. It had gotten pretty out of control in all honesty. 😢 However, we are pulling it back consistently which is good.
The weight gain and waste of money was alarming.

Has anyone ever got out of this habit and has any tips and advice? I really need to get better / new coping mechanism when the cravings hit. I’m an emotional eater: when I’m having a bad day and I’m stressed, I want bad food. It makes me feel terrible about myself and physically feels terrible. And thus the cycle. Any tips on dealing with craving would be appreciated!!

I now do a weekly online shop, I loosely meal plan (like “we’ll have a chicken/ mince/ veggie dish Tuesday”) I cannot plan rigid meals in advance as I can guarantee I’ll not want them. Then want a takeaway. This loose buying it and giving myself freedom on the day to pick, as long as I use the chicken is working very well. 🙂
Oh i'm glad i'm not the only one!
I've been having serious guilt over this tbh.
Its come to something when you see deliveroo drivers more than your own family!
Thanks lockdown!
Thats the problem though if you are self isolating but live with a group of hungry people 3 teenagers one toddler and a husband who is a real foodie..
Oh dear its just so damn convenient!
That and the move to a more cashless society and the fact that the only online delivery i can get is in 3 weeks time ouch..
So i feel almost under duress!
Plus with deliveroo you can actually get supermarket deliveries hello aldi or co op or even whole foods and yes i admit it my willpower is not strong..dear me..whats the alternative though?
Things are tough enough but its definitely my new year resolution to curb speading and like you said the extra pounds being added elsewhere...
So i don't have any tips but i wish us both good luck and a healthier new year.

I never cook on a friday. Its probably a childhood thing because we always got a chippy takeaway every friday. Its varied though, we never get the same thing. I do love a pizza but like the other poster on here its way over priced for what it is. Where I'm from you can practically get a chinese or indian feast for the price of two pizzas.

Maybe once a month if that. I hate having to wait around for deliveries, it gives me anxiety that they might knock on the door when I'm on the loo or something haha.
