I'm medically retired so my income is made up of a very small previous employment pension and standard rate PIP (which I'm hoping will increase to enhanced following an upcoming tribunal) - total currently is just over £5,000 pa.

My partner is a civil servant (middle manager in government communications) earning around £53,000 pa. He does work some serious hours for that though. He very rarely works from home and never gets the kind of pay increases/bonuses you read about in the Daily Mail!

Take home £2.85k monthly -opted out of pension as childcare is too expensive. Retail manager, age 30 London. Husband earns 10k more but take home is the same as he does pension plan and has student loans

I’m mid 30s and I work for a small charity near London, I’m a manager with a team of 8 and I earn £28700. My sector isn’t exactly known for paying well (charity, after all), but I am woefully underpaid. I knew I was taking a little bit of a pay cut when I started (I had managed to claw my way to £30k in a previous role after taking out a grievance pointing out that, based on job descriptions and what my job was actually like, I should have been in the oau grade above mine earning £38k, so they raised my salary £2k, despite the fact that my budgets delivered an annual surplus of several hundred thousand pounds a year. I left very swiftly and was glad to leave a big corporate organisation behind me). I like my work but I’m a bit done with the place I’m working at for various reasons- no progression, no strategic thinking, slightly hap-hazard ways of working (sometimes it’s like being at work with every single Hugh Grant character from all his films, well meaning but foppish and awkward), and I’ve been looking to relocate to cheaper areas and when I realised I could earn more in a cleaner, nicer, cheaper part of the country then that all but sealed my fate and I’ve been applying for anything relevant that crops up. I’m really, really bored of de-valuing myself career wise. I’ll almost certainly never be a high earner. I’ve given myself burn out at work on 3 occasions and it’s affected my coping abilities. I don’t think I could handle the pressure of being really high up in my industry. I think I’d rather earn the best I can at this level and enjoy a gentle and comfortable life instead.

I work in Logistics and earn £40k but am currently pushing for a payrise as the men in my department who have the same level of responsibility as me and who have been here the same amount of time (in one case, four years less than me) earn £50k.
Nice case for equal opportunity employment tribunal. You would have to have everything documented about salaries before threatening your employers with this - good luck

Have you thought about doing audio typing from home? You can get paid pretty well
Where do you find a job like this?

I’m an influencer marketing manager and I earn £28k 😬
You must have SO many stories to tell 😉

I would love to work from home. Those of you that does (not you SAHM!!!) work from home what do you do?

I'd be very interested if there is something I can get involved.
Me too!

I feel you with regards to the DLA claim situation. Currently in the process of filling it in for my autistic child after putting it off for the longest time; it is a beast of a form. I’m finding it difficult because I downplay a lot of my son’s challenges, because I’m used to them being with him all the time. You really have to describe your child’s worst day and that itself takes a toll. It would help out so much but a huge part of me believes it’s going to be rejected (bit of a pessimist).😕
I understand the challenges of forms like this but people/parents before you fought long and hard to give you this benefit so you should use it x

NHS band 6 team lead, just over £37,000 a year. I’m the main wage earner in my household and it’s hard going at times!!

It’s so interesting how much salaries vary up and down the country.

I’m 26 from the north, self employed beauty salon owner, only been going for 5 months but on average have earned £3800 per month, before tax and NI.

Should have also added:
I work 5-6 days a week varying from 8-12 hours per day. The build up to Christmas has been manic and the work doesn’t stop when you leave work.... the amount of messages to reply to, booking enquiries, advertising and general running of Instagram/Facebook pages, it’s hard to know when to switch off.

I’m a civil servant too on approx 50k, and it’s exactly the same, it’s definitely not the way it’s made out to be in the tabloids. I put in a huge amount of hours, the only working from home I do is in the evenings when I get home from a full days work and still have to switch the laptop on and I often get called out in the evenings and at weekends. In the last 10 years since austerity my total pay rise has been £3.5k, the gold plated pensions are definitely no more and my retirement age has gone up to 68, so it does grate on me when I see stories claiming civil servants have an easy life....MPs maybe but definitely not the minions below them 😂 However I do enjoy my job and I do realise I’m lucky to be earning a decent salary, however I am looking to relocate north for a slower pace of life, working in Westminster is relentless and the difference in pay doesn’t make up for the difference in cost of living in London!

I work in a call centre, full time shifts. I'm on 20k a year. I don't like it, the people are nice but it's heavily monitored. I can just go and get a drink as they want you on the phones. You press a button on your phone when you're in the loo and all our calls are listened to. I don't call people, they call us.

I’m a stay at home mum.
I get £1400 a month paid into my account. I’m responsible for my own car, insurance and debt from this. I always felt like I had to ask permission for money. This way I don’t. Suits us.
I have to work full time for that

I actually prefer to tell people in real life.
After reading this topic, I've decided I don't earn enough.

I think most of us have to work full-time for that. Life doesn’t always seem fair... 💔

I'm applying for other jobs. Our head office is in London and the cleaners get paid more than we do. The job is easy enough, it's the constant monitoring that annoys me. You can't be too long typing up notes about why somebody had called in as there are calls queuing. My husband could work every Sunday and earn more than me, with his overtime rate.

That’s disgusting. No one deserves to work under those conditions! I hope you find a new job soon. It’s unnecessary to be monitored so heavily, you’re a human being, not a robot x

I sympathise, I used to work for car insurance repairs company and it was exactly the same... press 4 for a wee and don’t take too long about it!

PA - 45k a year plus Christmas bonus/ annual bonus

£20,000 a year, deputy manager of a private day nursery in the north east. Would whinge about my pay but they've paid the £8000 for me to do a Foundation Degree so not all bad 😂😂😂

Oh and my husband has just introduced me to Matched Betting... Made £150 this week on that. Intend to keep it up as I'm in for an operation next month and will need something to supplement SSP!!!
Would love to seriously consider matched betting, I read up on it and didn’t understand 🤣
