During and right after Vietnam our soldiers got abuse too. My dad voluntarily served a 4 year tour of combat and came home for college. The only jacket he could afford was his army jacket and he got spit on repeatedly by the hippie protesters for it. Lots of men coming home got treatment like that. I think our society decided not to take it out on the veterans anymore after that and as a whole they are treated with a lot more respect now. I still wouldn't piss on Jane Fonda if she were on fire though.

There are good military spouses. The problem is you'll only hear about the ones who are enormous, scream for the military discount and who tell you that being a spouse is just as bad as being enlisted themselves.

My niece was recently taught an English lesson in her secondary school that was about 'racial bias in the media'. The teacher used the headlines comparing Meghan and Kate as 'proof' that the media is racist. The school don't seem to think it's a problem and have said lots of schools are teaching it. I am FUMING!

Yup , when I was little ( 70's 80's ) we lived in Germany as my dad was in the army & everytime we drove on base the car was searched from top to bottom & my dad was not allowed to wear uniform outside of the base he had to change into civvies , well to be honest he had to cange as he was a chef & my mum refused to let him in the car in his dirty whites lol, Also police officers & police staff have to fully change now no more half blues on the way to & from work

The odd thing is that I recently got an unsolicited DM from a person on here and replied. Short convo,very polite, just 4 posts between us, but the point is I was able to reply.
Oh and I was able to send DMs to two people on here last year, Pom and Yorkie. Very odd.
To be perfectly honest I actually think that DMs are a bad idea for the most part as they can be used to abuse people or to rally for pile-ons and foment trouble.
Mine last year were helpful ones (well I would say that
) so there is a place for them. I'd be fine if admin had access to all DMs so they could nip trouble in the bud. Gossip is one thing but tit stirring never ends well.
