I noticed people are piling on one woman in the replies to that tweet who pointed out what she said was offensive.

I have to be honest. I stopped following her everywhere years ago (when she was with the other guy, Simon?) because she was draining me with her trauma (did she ever tell what this trauma was?). Then I saw the news she was pregnant and later on that she was in a coma and I went back to her profile and I saw that nothing changed. I'm truly happy she's alive but I guess she'll never change. I didn't like her then, I don't like her now.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I feel like Grace has always had a kind of resentment towards medical staff and hospitals. I feel like she touched on it briefly before and mentioned how black people are treated worse than white people in terms of healthcare etc? I recall people mentioning that it seems like she should go to therapy to deal with it.
Not thanking the NHS once is very bizarre.
From what I remember, she hasn't spoken about that too much. In fact people wanted her to own up to the risks of her weight and race while she was pregnant because she acted as if all was well as long as she wished it that way.

I think she does resent doctors though but because of her weight. She would always gloat that she was a "picture of health" after gp visits and make slight mention of healthcare professionals suggesting her weight was a problem.

She probably sees her recovery as a huge "duck you" to nurses and doctors who've told her she's unhealthy for years.

People are going IN on the FB comments under the guardian article. Almost all saying how appalling her comments and no thanks to the doctors are.

Very different narrative when it’s not purely her little minions commenting.

I wonder if the journalist got permission to use her tweet in the article? I’m not sure how that stuff works but I think the journo and sub editor will have known exactly what they were doing by putting “because I’m me” in the subheading.

On one hand I think this just shows grace for what she is but if I think of it from a business point of view (not what I think people should prioritise when they’re seriously ill but whatever) this is why she shouldn’t be tweeting right now. Something like that just creates bad PR and there’s not really much she can do to manage it

This is the same person that said she manifest her pregnancy which is so insensitive to those suffering from fertility issues of loss.

She is just not a very nice person that is all
This is the same person who moaned that she couldn't go on holiday, while pregnant during a pandemic. Who forgot that not long before she'd actually BEEN on holiday to Greece and complained the entire time she was there.

She's just a horrible person plain and simple.

These people commenting vitriol need to realise you can be super relieved and happy and pleased for Grace as well as calling her out for what she has written.

Oh yes forgot about this!!!

The only thing that surprises me is how many posters are saying they're surprised by her tweet. Have we all been watching and reading the same Grace for years? She's a harmful, selfish, moronic mole. These kinds of posts are her defining personality trait.

I survived because I'm me... oh duck off. How insulting to every hard working member of the NHS staff that worked tirelessly to keep her alive.
I don’t follow this person and I only know a little of her recent illness. A couple of people I follow on Twitter liked her tweet, and that’s how I saw it. The insensitivity is breathtaking.

my husband died of Covid nine weeks ago this evening and seeing a tweet like that actually made me feel physically sick. He didn’t fight hard enough? And all the others who lost their lives as well? Wtaf.

Having been through a traumatic experience (not near death though) that changed my life, I can say I'm far more humble than I was before.
Me 5 years ago would be surprised at how different I am today. In fact, she'd probably scoff at some of the things I've done/not done :/

So I thought the reality of being dead to the world for a few months and having a fresh chance at life would have changed her at least a bit.

Me too I was assuming she’d completely change given the reality of the situation but nope Grace is still Grace

A nurse commented in the staff room the other day about how much they’re looking forward to not having to care for so many fatties going forward.
I'm sorry but if this is true and you agree with the sentiment, fu. This is why overweight people are scared of going to the doctor's. People in hospitals shouldn't be looking down on 'fatties'. Honestly duck off, we're people too

Someone’s come a comment I’ve left on a fb post, apparently I’ve ‘interpreted what she said incorrectly’

I’m not stupid Karen, I have eyes and a decent brain.

Wow. What a duck you to all the 100’s of people that kept her and her child alive for the last for the three months.
I’ve spent the last year working in the ICUs and HDUs of my hospital. It has been rough. Not least because of the size of many of our patients. A nurse commented in the staff room the other day about how much they’re looking forward to not having to care for so many fatties going forward. It’s exhausting and everything is harder. I know that my joints have all taken a hit this year from the turning and personal care.
Somebody here mentioned the turn teams that went around and proned patients. More often than not they were made up of volunteers from other departments whose services had been reduced. One day it was literally all dentists and eye doctors!
Also, think about all the people who have died in the last year that helped to teach the medical staff the best treatment pathways to follow. Just so that she could pull through and thank herself.
If your joints are hurting from turning people you are not doing it right. Big patient or not there are techniques and equipment available to ensure safe moving and handling for both patient and staff.

Grace RT'd this...her ego knows no bounds.

Also, I HATE when people go on about how "God is great" (her followers). No. How about science and the doctors who saved her life are great. Sorry, I am a total atheist and just find that mindset SO insulting.
OT but hannah louise f needs a thread! so much to unpack there but i cba making one myself

I completely agree. If any of my staff said anything like that there would be hell on.
