Hate one for kids funerals, they are free, we had to have one. Not only that everywhere we went for the extras either did it free or at a massive discount l the lady who did our flowers charged 100, when we went to collect she gave us the little card to write on. Asked which one and I said daughter, she asked was it for my daughter and how old was she. I said stillborn and yes mine. She then said ok that’s £20, she ended up charging for just the few flowers she had to order in. All the flowers she had in stock and her time were free, the lady who did the speaking usually charged a couple of 100,. But she also did it free and said if we did pay her she would just donate it straight to a baby loss charity, and all said they would never want to profit from a child’s death.

That’s fair enough if her friends took her away but where’s the mention of the gfm money none of them apart from Sophie’s legacy are giving back
As far as I am aware once Reanai passed they did remove the GFM link.
I cant find it now so I assume they closed the GFM.
They haven't mentioned if they had remaining money or what they will do with it.
The dad has been away a few times.
I just really feel for the mum.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Mum. Not sure why as I don't know her

Renais GFM has been closed but no mention of where the money is. I dont think renai ever had treatment so a substantial amount should be left

A woman I know set up a GFM page so that her son could go to Disney World Florida. “His dream” apparently.

There was nothing wrong with the child and she didn’t try to pretend that there was. She simply said that it was her 7 year old son’s dream to go and she felt like as a single parent she was failing her son because she couldn’t afford it.

Totally greedy behaviour and people called her out for it and she did take the page down.

Conveniently she then had a “break in” at her home a few weeks later and another GFM was set up to pay for stolen items…

Feel the same about Renais mum. She just seems so lost. It was just the two of them by the look of it, though I think the dad was still in her life but she’s left such a void in the mums life and I feel so sorry for her especially at the moment as I think she got her diagnoses around this time last year. It’ll be a hard Christmas for her like so many others who have lost loved ones. As for the GFM, no idea what happened with that but she’s not living extravagantly like Ash and Saf on donated money from what I can see. Don’t know about the dad. I don’t follow him.

Yes
Was she not on some medication from overseas. Cant remember.
Yes she was and she was actually booked to go to Germany I believe it was to receive a trial treatment /procedure . She then took a turn and I believe the hospital then disallowed her to go.

I also hate folk going abroad with no travel insurance, then get ill or have an accident and then set up a GFM for medical expenses and to get home 😡

Renai was on treatment I think, im sure they had the treatment brought over from Germany. I do believe they are genuine as once they had enough money the GFM was closed straight away
Renais dad has his own business as well and I think both parents were comfortable financially judging by their pictures. I’ve a soft spot for Renais mum too, and Renai looks to have had a great life, holidays with her mum and dad, days out, sleepovers etc.

Hurrah for this thread!!!! The ashley cain one made me so angry, all my friends on social media were donating 🙄

Where I live someone started a GFM for a homeless guy who was regularly outside our local supermarket and she wanted him to have a stay in a hotel over xmas...it raised over £3,000 and people were suggesting that he could get a cheap van with that to live in...he really wanted a job etc. She vanished along with the money.

Rachaele Hambleton aka Part Time Working Mummy on Facebook and Instagram.

She set up her page claiming to help women who have been in abusive relationships, telling stories about "women and babies suffering the most horrific abuse", and claiming she was getting 6 women a week into refuge. She's had multiple Go Fund Me appeals set up, including one set up by followers to help her buy her home (after the landlady said she wanted to sell it shortly after they'd moved in).

She also had (and probably still has, nobody knows) a PayPal fund set up going directly to her, with woolly wording around "enabling me to continue doing what I love", no actual guarantee that the money was going towards abused women, but the implication was there. It appears that "what she loves" is quitting her job to become a full time Instascammer, doing adverts for anything and everything, buying her house and doing a load of tit renovations and decorating, ignoring her kids and step kids unless she's bribed into being in an advert. A couple of years ago when criticised about her change in lifestyle, she said "I'm not dripping in Gucci". Well guess what, these days she has Gucci bags, sunglasses, shoes and sandals etc, as well as a number of other designer items (Mark Jacobs, Mulberry, Victoria Beckham etc), and is constantly out for expensive meals and nights away (despite having 4 kids and 2 step kids, at least 2 of which she claims have "additional needs").

She then set up a CIC with herself and a couple of friends as directors, the paperwork detailed their aim was to help "one abused woman a month". She rented a building, threw loads of money at it to renovate it into a "women's centre", the purpose of which isn't really clear, it appears to mostly be a hangout spot for her and her mates. Then she opened a shop next door, with "all profits going to the centre". Then she opened a packing centre, so the shop tat could be sold online. Then there was a second "centre ", all these buildings were renovated and decorated, but the centres have no real purpose (she claims that local agencies, including social services and the police use them for "meeting women") other than being a vanity project and feeding her saviour complex.

Since setting up her shop, she's run various raffles, none of which she has ever announced the winners of. She regularly asks for donations in the form of vouchers "for the women", and also asking for food donations around school holidays. The only person who appears to have benefited from these is a friend of hers (and the sister of her old accountant), who is from a very well off family, sends her kids to private school, and has set up her own business, so not someone in desperate need of financial support.

Recent Amazon wish lists have included things like vouchers for restaurants, Costa, cinema, as well as shops like Footlocker and ASOS. Again, all apparently "for the women".

She has never provided any evidence of where the various funds she has received have gone, even back to the PayPal days when she promised a monthly newsletter, donors have confirmed these were never received. When anyone emailed her asking where their donations had gone, she got all passive aggressive, refunded their money and blocked them. She has restricted comments on her Instagram so if anyone mentions PayPal it's filtered out.

Has there ever been a positive ending in these situations when the parents handed all the remaining cash over to a charity for example?
You just don't hear about it, do you?! And in addition, It shocks me how very little gratitude is given to those who donate.

Very rarely see a post, following on from a GFM, saying 'I would personally like to thank you all for donating...this is how we spent the money'.

No instead, their posts are aimed at 'trolls' who dare ask how the money will be spent.

I honestly think that these fundraising sites require more scrutiny. There's a lot of vulnerable people on Facebook who will donate. Family and friends feeling the pressure to donate.

GFM is not 'charitable' by any means. If it was, then they would completely stop this nonsense by paying straight into private bank accounts and allowing donations to go straight to a pot that can only be paid directly to a funeral company, for example.
If money is going directly to a private bank account, then there needs to be clear transparency made on GFM.

That one for Bella-Rae Birch annoyed me. The baby who was mauled by her parents dangerous dog. Bella-Raes mum was on GFM the same night of that attack wanting horse drawn carriages, doves and parties.
She now wants to start a charity 🙄.

I don't donate to GFM for this reason. I have donated to Just Giving, because the money has to be paid directly to a registered charity, Go Fund Me can go to anyone and there's no comeback if any donor feels that the money hasn't gone where they thought it would.

Apologies i didn’t realise she was on treatment😃
They did seem to live a comfortable life and already had money, but this also doesnt mean they should keep any remaining funds if they have it. Should be donated to a charitable cause, not TAF though🤢

On a lesser scale than others but Jo Solomon from No Verbal Filter.
It was a fundraiser via PayPal rather than GoFundMe because she said PayPal took a smaller cut but the principle is the same.
Her cat was shot and had an air rifle pellet stuck in its shoulder. Jo said she would need major surgery requiring the shoulder to be fused or quite possibly amputation of the leg.
It happened three weeks after she spent almost £15,000 on a new horse lorry, she said she had no savings left, claimed she felt awkward and embarrassed to ask for help but set up a fundraiser which raised over £4000 plus she had some direct donations to her bank account. She actually hit the target within three hours of setting it up and lots of people said she should take it down but she left it up for ages citing "technical difficulties" and got a lot more donations in that time.
In fact its the second time she has done a fundraiser, the first one was a GoFundMe for her horse to have an op on its eye as it had cancer, she even went to the local paper about it.
If any of you follow NVF you will know that Jo is obsessed with money, begs and drops hints constantly about how hard her life is and all the things she wants as well as putting expensive items on her wishlist so the pretence of being embarrassed was purely for show and she could have just sold the lorry again to get the money needed.
The cat made a "miraculous recovery" and she announced within days no surgery was needed, it soon became clear that the second Jo realised that the injury was potentially serious she saw pound signs and set up the fundraiser rather than waiting for the specialist vet to examine the cat and give her verdict on wether surgery would be required which the first vet had told her would be the next step.
People suggested donating the money to a charity, some asked for their money back but Jo just deleted their comments and blocked them. Some did say that they didn't want their money back and Jo said she would use it for the horses vets bills. Again if you know Jo you know that her animals live in disgusting unsafe conditions and rarely get the care they need because Jo thinks she knows better than vets and other professionals.
She talks about the "hate from trolls" she got over the GoFundMe a lot, still insists she refunded money to those who asked and says the vet is amazed that the cat made a full recovery without surgery.
She desperately wanted to set up another fundraiser last year for another of her horses but said she didn't dare because of all the hate she got last time. If she really needs money she should sell the posh horse lorry that has hardly ever transported her horses and is mostly used to pick up hay and dump rubbish!
I don't think it will be the last fundraiser she ever does sadly.
